So Oyo contributed N272 billion and received less than half while Imo contributed N4 billion and received almost 18 times same amount. Is that supposed to be a state or a syphoning structure? Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Abia should be merged as one state. Wtf.

God bless Tinubu on the Tax Reform Bill. Very soon, the Bayelsa model will apply where contribution and receipt are almost the same. Monkey wey dey work no complain, na the baboons wey dey chop come dey complain of marginalisation.

Let's not even talk about Lagos before some economic migrants claim they developed Lagos. Lagos contributed 2.7 trillion and received 460 billion.

Lagos is a thief, VATs for Multinationals are paid to Lagos state but they operate and sell their products across the country.

Which state does consumer tax from FMCG, Breweries etc go to? How about Oil corporation operating in South South and South East while their headquarters is in Lagos.

Why is it that it's only Lagos Ports that receives over 90% of all cargoes imported into the country, why is Warri port, Koko port, Calabar port, Onne (operating at low capacity), not functioning as they should?

Imo, Abia, Kebbi and Cross River are advanced parasites.

Lagos, Rivers, Oyo and Bayelsa are the ones holding the glue together.

Imo well done, you more than doubled the figures of your next comrade (Kebbi) in arms grin grin grin grin

Interesting! grin

This is why the Northern govs are against it. I understand their plight anyway, but I still believe the state should get major share of the tax cut, before remitting to the central purse. Lagos received the lowest cut!!!

This is the 'false' contribution that the new tax bill seeks to correct. This contribution is on the basis of HQ, not on the basis of where the service or goods were consumed. If you do it that way, Lagos and Rivers will not appear to have contributed so much.

Lagos has Oil companies, MTN, Airtel, Dangote, Breweries

Rivers has Oil companies

Right. This is not done anywhere. These are the structural problems of Nigeria that should be corrected. Yes, there should be sharing, but anything less than 50% derivation is daylight robbery.

The figures are fake

That of Oyo is more realistic due to high level of commerce that goes on there

But the rest are more or less inflated by activities from other states

Ogun for example will see most of its VAT remittance subsumed by Lagos

Yoruba people are amplifying this VAT nonsense to divert people's attention from what actually funds the economy - oil.

The oil from a few states is still what's sustaining the economy
But since tinubu came in, we've been hearing how the yoruba are the ones funding Nigeria.

Same way Hausa people are carrying the narrative of feeding the country, as if they're not being sponsored by the FG then end up selling the farm produce. Get grant from the FG, produce crops, sell it and pocket the money. Turn around and claim to be feeding the country.

While Niger Delta face all the problems that comes with oil exploration and get nothing in return while the north mine their solid minerals by themselves
