We Don’t Have Power To Determine Tenure Of IGP – Police Service Commission by Edygrin(m): 8:05pm On Feb 03 |
The Police Service Commission, PSC, has said it has no constitutional powers to determine the appointment or removal of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP. DAILY POST recalls that the Police Service Commission had last week directed all serving police officers who have served for 35 years, or attained the age of 60 years, to proceed on immediate retirement in line with existing laws.https://dailypost.ng/2025/02/03/we-dont-have-power-to-determine-tenure-of-igp-police-service-commission/ 1 Like

Edygrin: The Police Service Commission may not have the power to remove the IGP, but they definitely have the influence to remind the President that his tenure has expired and the Constitution should be respected. If they can enforce retirement for other officers, why pretend their hands are tied when it comes to the IGP? The law should apply to everyone equally, not selectively. This is why people lose trust in institutions—they enforce rules when it suits them and turn a blind eye when it doesn't. 10 Likes |
