In a bid to equip Akwa Ibom youths with practical skills for self-reliance, a leading name in interior décor, JLUX Decor Koncepts, has strengthened its commitment to training individuals in various aspects of the industry.

The company, which specializes in Italian paints and designs, exotic floors, POP installation, furnishing, woodwork, curtains, Venetian blinds, industrial cleaning, general contracts, and consultancy, is championing skills development as a way of giving back to society.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jonathan Udoh, made this known yesterday in a chat with newsmen at the company’s head office, 202 Oron Road, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

Udoh observed that the initiative was in line with the ARISE Agenda of the Pastor Umo Eno administration, which prioritizes skills acquisition and development to empower individuals and enhance their relevance in society.

He described the training initiative as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), aimed at equipping youths with marketable skills to boost economic growth and financial independence.

His words: "I don’t believe in constantly giving people fish; I believe in equipping them with the skills to fish for themselves. The masterclass by JLUX stems from my passion to bridge the gap between talent and technical expertise. My goal is to ensure that more Akwa Ibom youths acquire the same knowledge and hands-on experience that have helped me thrive in this industry."

The Ibiono Ibom-born entrepreneur revealed that the response to the training has been impressive, with experts teaching participants the rudiments and secrets of the trade while also connecting them to potential clients within and outside the state. The masterclass, according to him, was organized in partnership with Silkcoat Technology, where Mr. Udoh also doubles as a distributor in Uyo.

"By doing this, we are not just equipping them with skills but providing them with a lifelong means of livelihood and strengthening the value chain," Mr. Udoh added.

Encouraging youths in the state to embrace skills development, the JLUX boss urged them to overcome fear and financial doubts, which he identified as common barriers to learning.

"Many young people want to acquire skills but feel discouraged due to a lack of funds. My advice is simple, look around you; there is always someone God has positioned to help, but only if you are genuine. Politics should not consume your mind. While you think of making quick money, also invest in skills that will sustain you for a lifetime and create wealth at any time," he advised.

Highlight of the masterclass was the presentation of certificates to participants.

Meanwhile, the company, which has provided services to individuals, reputable establishments, and government agencies across 29 states in Nigeria, has set a high standard in interior décor and professional training. It has distinguished itself as a leader in innovation, craftsmanship, and skills empowerment. For inquiries: 08033669926
