Cally Air Nigeria: Cross River To Take Delivery Of New State-Owned Aircraft Next Month — Gov Otu Bassey. The Cross River State Government has revealed that it will take delivery of two new aircraft in March as part of plans to boost the state airline. Gov Bassey Otu, who disclosed this at a media parley with select journalists in Calabar on Monday night, said plans to resuscitate the state airline were to provide an alternative transportation system as well as a wonderful traveling experience for residents and visitors to the state. While bemoaning that residents and visitors alike to the state were having trouble flying into the state due to flight delays and cancellations, he noted that all this would change when Calli Air was back in the air. He said, “ We have worked on the engines of the other aircraft we have and are also in the process of receiving two additional ones by March. “We are working to have the biggest airline in the country and ultimately solve the Calabar route challenge. We are hoping to fly beyond Nigeria when this starts,” he stated. He further noted that, given the cost of fuel and the state of federal roads in Cross River, his administration is on the verge of developing the rail system. The governor disclosed that the Obudu cargo and passenger airport was receiving priority attention to provide an alternative to the flying public. “This brings us to the reason why we will soon be launching the state transport master policy.,” he said.
