If IBB is not credible enough for you, there's also books by the planners themselves including Ademoyega. He published his book decades later after all the brouhaha. They were all essentially saying "Shut up and go sit your asses down, you guys don't know jack. We knew each other and planned it among us right from the beginning".

Oga, please try and act like an educated man. The issue of the coup has been discussed to death. What is new is IBB’s statement. It is a self serving image laundering statement that neither clarifies or debunks narratives of the coup. All it does is to launder his image. If he had no concrete info why mention it except to launder his image but gullible people fall for it.

We are no closer to the story of the 1966 coup that we were before IBB released his book.

Like I said I am not here to discuss the coup. I am here to discuss IBB’s “testimony”. It neither confirms or debunks any preheld notions. If anyone has read Ademoyehas book or the account of any other coup plotter, IBB’s testimony will not add to the subject or change the persons mind because he admits he is just speculating and was very removed from the actors.

Are you so emotionallly invested in an outcome that this simple logic eludes you?

And for some people who said no leaders was killed in the south west..

The record said ahmadu bello was pushing for Islamic law implementation in Nigeria that push the more quest to kill him.

As for Tafawa Bello though a quiet man they felt he strongly align with Ahmadu Bello ideology and also since the picture was to put in Awolowo there was no second consideration..


As for Akintola, the record said they had no intention to kill him but to put him in prison.. however he opened fire on them and this created exchange of bullets.

As for okpara and Azikiwe. The news quickly escalated. Ifeajuna who was to kill both men was quickly subdue and most igbo officers was killed on the spot.


Obiechuna stopped the coup. Which led to aguiyi ironsi first control as the head of state. Though triggered annoyance from the northern sphere on why aguiyi is yet to prosecute them
