STATE OF EMERGENCY IN RIVERS STATE: THE TRUTH UNFOLDS AMIDST PRESIDENTIAL FALSEHOODS By Ledogo Raymond In what can only be described as a brazen abuse of power, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State and suspended an entire government, citing a "breakdown of law and order." The justifications? That Governor Siminalayi Fubara had allegedly refused to rebuild the Rivers State House of Assembly complex over 14 months after its demolition and had deliberately failed to present the 2025 budget to the House of Assembly in compliance with the Supreme Court’s ruling. That there are pipeline explosions and that people are killing themselves. In just less than one week, these allegations, however, are now crumbling like a house of cards, and the truth is coming to light. Governor Fubara is being vindicated, as all accusations against him are being exposed as politically motivated fabrications. From the moment Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), the imposed Sole Administrator, landed in Port Harcourt, he confirmed what many had always known, Rivers State is calm and peaceful. There was no widespread violence, no visible crisis, and certainly no breakdown of law and order to justify Tinubu’s draconian intervention. This revelation alone annihilates the very foundation of the president’s decision. If the state was truly in turmoil, as Tinubu and his co-travelers had claimed, why is the Sole Administrator’s own remark contradicting that narrative? The reality is simple: the state of emergency was never about peace or stability, it was about power, control, and money. One of the major accusations made by the President against Governor Fubara, as contained in his live broadcast while imposing martial law on Rivers State, was that the Governor refused to rebuild the State House of Assembly complex fourteen months after demolition. Yet, when the Sole Administrator visited the construction site on Saturday, he confirmed that work was right on schedule and fully paid for by Governor Fubara. This revelation raises serious and uncomfortable questions: Was President Tinubu deliberately misled by his close ally, Nyesom Wike? Was this entire charade merely a well-orchestrated political ploy to weaken Fubara’s administration ahead of the 2027 election? Why did Tinubu not verify the facts before making such a drastic decision? The answer is becoming clearer by the day: this shenanigan was never about governance or the peace of Rivers State, it was about Wike’s desperate attempt to hold Rivers State hostage for Tinubu. Another sinister allegation leveled against Fubara was that he “teleguided” the bombing of the Trans-Niger pipeline in Bodo. A baseless claim, considering that Bodo is not even an Ijaw community, where previous threats had reportedly emerged. In fact, in an AIT on-site assessment and report, Ogoni youths, including known Wike supporters, dissociated the explosion from the current political impasse in the state, linking it with issues of pipeline contract. The federal government dragging Governor Fubara into the incident reeks of a deliberate setup to paint the Governor as an instigator of economic sabotage, conveniently giving the federal government an excuse to intervene militarily and seize control of Rivers State’s resources. If this incident is thoroughly investigated, it may reveal an even more damning truth, that the sabotage was either a hoax or orchestrated by those who wanted Fubara out of the way. Perhaps the most telling evidence of this political heist is the sudden release of Rivers State’s withheld allocation to the Sole Administrator. The Supreme Court had ordered that federal allocations be withheld until an Appropriation Law was enacted. Yet, despite the absence of such a law, the federal government rushed to release the funds, not to the legally elected governor, but to an imposed Sole Administrator. This raises a damning question: Was the whole purpose of this unconstitutional intervention simply to seize control of Rivers State’s treasury? By bypassing Governor Fubara and funneling the state’s resources through their proxy, the Tinubu administration has exposed its true intentions, financial control, not governance, not peace. Despite the federal government’s deafening silence in the face of widespread condemnation, the truth is emerging faster than they can suppress it. Every lie they concocted is unraveling, and Governor Siminalayi Fubara is standing taller than ever. This is not just a political struggle; it is a battle against tyranny, deceit, and the reckless subversion of democracy. Tinubu, Wike, and their collaborators may have scripted this entire episode, but they have underestimated the will of Rivers people and the inevitability of truth. The days ahead will tell the full story. And when they do, history will remember this as the moment the oppressors fell, and justice prevailed. March 23, 2025. 1 Like

Tinubu is pushing strongly to take the whole states of NIGERIA for the APC. His activity in River state is an attempt to ensure that Fubara doesn't have influence in the conduct of Local Government election. This is to ensure that Wike's men emerge as chairmen across local council in River state 2 Likes |
