i enjoyed most of the hymns we rendered while a student at a certain Baptist High School. then we used the Broadman hymnal, a copy which i do not have today. nonetheless, i still continue to cherish and sing some of them till date. so far, my number today is
`` standing on the promises of Christ my King,,,,,,,,

Beulah land is yet another super.

what are yours? share them.

''BLESSED ASSURANCE JESUS IS MINE, ''
Re: My Favorite Hymn by dreamnaira(m): 9:50pm On Oct 05, 2007
"There is singing up in heaven such as we have never known,
where the angels sing the praises of the Lamb upon the throne;
Their sweet harps are ever tuneful and their voices always clear,
O that we might be more like them while we serve the master here!

          Refrain
Holy, holy, is what the angels sing,
And I expect to help them make the courts of heaven ring;
But when I sing redemption's story, they will fold their wings,
For angels never felt the joys that our salvation brings.

It has 4 stanzas, written by --JOHNSON OATMAN, JR
SDAH NO425

The angels can not sing the song we will sing in heaven because they do not pass through the trials and temptation we paqssed through
Re: My Favorite Hymn by uf4oma(f): 10:25am On Oct 08, 2007
I want to be like Jesus. Text by Thomas O. Chisholm. Music by Livingstone Ives.

1st stanza.
    I have one deep supreme desire,
    That I may be like Jesus
    To this I fervently aspire
    That I may be like Jesus
    I want my heart his throne to be
    So that a watching world may see
    His likeness shining forth in me
    I want to be like Jesus.

This hymn brings tears to my eyes as many others in the album, Holy,Holy,Holy by Crystal Lewis.
Re: My Favorite Hymn by lafile(m): 10:37am On Oct 08, 2007
It has to be Amazing Grace.
Amazing Grace How sweet the sound/ That saved a wretch like me/ I once was lost but now I'm found/ Was blind but now i see.
I also love Heaven came down:
Oh what a wonderful, wonderful day, day i will never forget/ After I wandered in darkness away, Jesus my saviour i met/O what a tender compassionate friend,He met the need of my heart/Shadows dispelling, with joy I am telling
He made all the darkness depart.

Heaven came down and glory filled my soul/When at the cross the Savior made me whole/My sins He washed away, and my night He turned to day,/Heaven came down and glory filled my soul.

I'll post more when i remember.
Re: My Favorite Hymn by lafile(m): 10:41am On Oct 08, 2007
How could i have forgotten this one?
Great is thy Faithfullness! Think I'll Just post the entire song.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Refrain: Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Refrain

''BLESSED ASSURANCE JESUS IS MINE, ''

1
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.

2
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
angels descending bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

3
Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with his goodness, lost in his love.

real good too.

some gives me joy, some bring tears to my eyes smiley

a God to gloriry
a never dying soul to save
and fix it for the sky

another one;

i am not worthy Holy Lord
that thou shouldst come to me
but speak the word
one gracious word
that sets the sinner free cry
Re: My Favorite Hymn by Nobody: 9:13am On Oct 11, 2007
And here goes mine! I love this song so much, for it reassures me of my Father's love. Isaiah 49:15

I Will Not Forget Thee

Sweet is the promise “I will not forget thee,”
Nothing can molest or turn my soul away;
E’en though the night be dark within the valley,
Just beyond is shining an eternal day.

Refrain

I will not forget thee or leave thee,
In My hands I’ll hold thee,
In My arms I’ll fold thee,
I will not forget thee or leave thee;
I am thy Redeemer, I will care for thee.

Trusting the promise “I will not forget thee,”
Onward I will go with songs of joy and love,
Though earth despise me,
Though my friends forsake me,
I shall be remembered in my home above.

Refrain

When at the golden portals I am standing,
All my tribulations, all my sorrows past;
How sweet to hear the blessèd proclamation,
“Enter, faithful servant, welcome home at last.”

1 What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.

I love this Hymn, cos it tells me of how i go thru life's pain cos i decide to go thru them and not willing all my cross to Him and exchange it for the easy one from God.

How Great Thou Art

Oh Lord my God When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the roaring thunder
Thy p'wer throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul my Saviour God to thee
How great thou art, how great thou artx2

When Peace Like a River

When peace like a river attendeth my soul
when sorrows like sea bellows roar
Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to know
it is well, it is well with my soul

It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

The Old Rugged Cross

Stanza 1
On a hill far away, stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old cross, where the dearest and best;
For a World of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down,
I will cling to the old rugged cross;
And exchange it someday for a crown.

Stanza 2
To the old rugged cross, I will ever be true,
His shame and reproach gladly bear,
And the dear lamb of God, left his glory above;
To bear it to dark calvary.

Also, 'He Touched me'

Shackled by a heavy burden,
Neath' with a load of care
Then the hand of Jesus touched me'
And now I am no longer the same.

Refrain
He touched me, oh He touched me,
And oh the joy that floods my soul,
Something happened and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.

i realy do love this song, but i can only remember
the chorus.

all of it.

One Step @ a time
SWEET JESUS!
that's all am asking from you
Lord show me the way to do everything
all i have 2 do!
yesterday gone
SWEET JESUS!
and tommorro may never be mine
Lord show me the way
to do everything, one day @ atime
Re: My Favorite Hymn by Nobody: 6:27pm On Oct 23, 2007
@busygal, let me help you out: wink I love this song too!

I'm only human, I'm just a woman.
Help me believe in what I could be
And all that I am.
Show me the stairway, I have to climb.
Lord for my sake, teach me to take
One day at a time.

Chorus:
One day at a time sweet Jesus
That's all I'm asking from you.
Just give me the strength
To do everyday what I have to do.
Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine.
Lord help me today, show me the way
One day at a time.

Do you remember, when you walked among men?
Well Jesus you know if you're looking below
It's worse now, than then.
Cheating and stealing, violence and crime
So for my sake, teach me to take
One day at a time.

Mine is " I surrender All"

I like it 'cos it encapsulates my relationship with the supreme.
But I actually prefer the Yoruba version:

Mo fi gbogbo re fun Jesu
patapata lai ku kan

,

mo fi gbogbo, mo figbogbo re
fun wo olugbala mi ni
mo fi won sile.

HEEEEE WHO WAN TRY
cool

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!

Refrain

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

Re: My Favorite Hymn by knotty(m): 3:31pm On Oct 24, 2007
All hail the power of Jesus’ Name! Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.

Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre, and as they tune it, fall
Before His face Who tunes their choir, and crown Him Lord of all.
Before His face Who tunes their choir, and crown Him Lord of all.

Crown Him, ye morning stars of light, who fixed this floating ball;
Now hail the strength of Israel’s might, and crown Him Lord of all.
Now hail the strength of Israel’s might, and crown Him Lord of all.

Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God, who from His altar call;
Extol the Stem of Jesse’s Rod, and crown Him Lord of all.
Extol the Stem of Jesse’s Rod, and crown Him Lord of all.

Ye seed of Israel’s chosen race, ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all.
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all.

Hail Him, ye heirs of David’s line, whom David Lord did call,
The God incarnate, Man divine, and crown Him Lord of all,
The God incarnate, Man divine, and crown Him Lord of all.

Sinners, whose love can ne’er forget the wormwood and the gall,
Go spread your trophies at His feet, and crown Him Lord of all.
Go spread your trophies at His feet, and crown Him Lord of all.

Let every tribe and every tongue before Him prostrate fall
And shout in universal song the crownèd Lord of all.
And shout in universal song the crownèd Lord of all.

i am in worship mode. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!

Being Born as a Baptist, I love my hymns, loads of them,

This particular hymn is on my mind today. hope it ministers to someone.

CLOSE TO THEE

Thou my everlasting Portion, more than friend or life to me,
All along my pilgrim journey, Savior, let me walk with Thee.
Close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee,
All along my pilgrim journey, Savior, let me walk with Thee.

Not for ease or worldly pleasure, nor for fame my prayer shall be;
Gladly will I toil and suffer, only let me walk with Thee.
Close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee,
Gladly will I toil and suffer, only let me walk with Thee.

Lead me through the vale of shadows, bear me over life’s fitful sea;
Then the gate of life eternal may I enter, Lord, with Thee.
Close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee,
Then the gate of life eternal may I enter, Lord, with Thee.

Re: My Favorite Hymn by knotty(m): 10:50am On Mar 05, 2012
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
