Deji Bademosi, program host, asking Emeka Okengwu whether the government share (N478 billion) of purported subsidy removal saving (N1.4 trillion) can realistically achieve all the Government has committed to doing given the litany of past empty promises.

Okengwu essentially touts trust in the Government and a reliance on holding Government to its promises.

Deji Bademosi says that State Governors have confessed inability to pay minimum wage without subsidy removal. The obvious relational question being will their share of fuel subsidy removal savings be used to cover minimum wage deficit? Are we then not back to square one?

I would like to make an obvious prediction: "this struggle shall gradually transform to a revolution against corruption. It will no longer be subsidy or the price of oil anymore. It shall soon be a question of why senators, ministers and political leaders in general collect so much as allowances and bonus while a village woman dies of the so called 'maternal mortality' because she cant freaking afford to pay hospital bills in a poorly run health sector!".

This will not stop. more and more questions will arise until the wind hurricane finally blows to reveal the posterior (otherwise called y.ansh_) of the chicken

Falana insisting that the fraud emanating from the NNPC monumental and damaging. N240 billion is the legal approval for subsidy in 2011. Every kobo spent above that illegal because it is outside legislative appropriation.

Economist Odilim Enwegbara insisting subsidy must go . His opinion is that "no pain no gain". "GEJ Government means well". Mr. Enwegbara insist that a President who enjoyed a "landslide" win will not turn round to punish Nigerians.
Re: Femi Falana & Funmi Iyanda On Fuel Subsidy Removal - Channels TV by nikkygal(f): 2:26pm On Jan 11, 2012
Falana has been spot on with all his arguements. The pertinent question he asked was: So if the price of crude increases in the Int'l market to $200/barrel, what happens?

In effect, we'll have to pay over N200/litre for PMS? Or will the govt not have to subsidie again even after 'deregulating' the downstream sector?  So GEJ & his cohorts should make up their mind either to continue fixing prices or allow market forces do that. . .

If cameroon increases the price of PMS to N300 a litre, we also have to increase ours again to avoid smuggling?

Is that the solution to smuggling?

Mr. Bademosi, the host, ask Mr.Onwegbara why should Government implement this policy without refineries working. Mr. Onwegbara states that he expects prices to crash via effects of free market forces. Bademosi reminds him that price of diesel has never "crashed" and that the Nigerian economy is petrol-driven.
