When ACN said GEJ was trying to declare state of emergency in Lagos some people on here cried "paranoia".

Written by Idowu Samuel, Abuja Saturday, 14 January 2012

Indications are rife that the Federal Government is not happy with the Lagos State government on the open ended opportunity being enjoyed by protesters in his state against the removal of fuel subsidy, and had hence queried the governor on the growing confidence of the protesters.

The government handed over the query to the Lagos State governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, during a closed door meeting it had with organised labour which had in attendance some select governors, including Fashola.

Lagos has been offering a great source of inspiration to anti-subsidy protesters from across the federation, owing to the huge crowd it exhibits on daily basis at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Square at Ojota, Lagos where anti subsidy protest is being held daily since Monday.

The high caliber of eminent Nigerians, who have been attending the rally in Lagos buoyed by the presence of Nollywood actors and actresses, big time Lagos-based musicians, religious leaders, professionals and committed artisans, had made the protests in Lagos tick, causing some shock waves in government circles.

Some presidency officials in a chat with Saturday Tribune disclosed that the need by the government to have words with Fashola on the dimension of protests in Lagos necessitated his enlistment in the select committee of state governors who had dialogue with the organised labour.

Officials of the government at the special meeting with the Labour union leaders had reportedly expressed dismay at the dimension of the anti-fuel subsidy protests in Lagos and hence berated the governor for his inability to temper the tension by refusing members of the Save Nigeria Group (SNG) led by Pastor Tunde Bakare the free leverage it has been having all along.

Insiders at the meeting told Saturday Tribune that a well prepared Fashola had harangued the government officials on the manner of handling protests of a huge magnitude, disclosing to them that his government was all along vigilant about every movement of the protesters in Lagos and had devised the means of making them act peacefully.

The Lagos governor, according to reports, was vehement in declaring that democracy forbids any government to clamp down on protesters, a reason the Lagos State government resolved to manage the protests by ensuring security of lives and property, while also discouraging acts of arson and vandalism by protesters.

Fashola reportedly told the officials of government that having provided security cover for protesters and other logistics including ambulances, fire fighting equipment and a constant dialogue with the arrow heads, no one should expect the Lagos protests to degenerate into chaos.

Even though im angry with BRF cos he sold his soul to Tinubu, however truth must be told.

Fashola is the most intelligent government official in the entire country as we speak.

He's the only saviour that can lead Nigeria to the promise land.

Not until we start reasoning beyond ethnic and religious line, this nation will not move forward

Re: Fuel Subsidy: Presidency Queries Fashola Over Lagos Crowd by Pukkah: 11:52am On Jan 14, 2012
The Federal Government continues to move from one gaffe to the other while groping for a solution to the problem into which it has stupidly thrown itself. Do they think that Fashola can scatter all the groups that litter and dot the entire landscape of Lagos?

Anyway, this nonsense came from the same minds that yanked out the subsidy without tact or gumption.

this report must be the most baseless report in years. for one Fashola is not an employee of the Federal Government, second is that he doesn't control the police to do anything about the protest. three he is from the opposition so any attempt to query him his party will just release the details to the public and its popularity will just soar. ACN and Tinubu will not let that juicy opportunity pass.

Governor Babagida Muazu tried to prevent rallies see the destruction that happened in Minna, that sleepy and docile city. imagine what lags will be.

its a farce

"Someone about to be roasted is greasing himself with palmoil" - Enough said.

roasted for what?  Gej is not Fashola's boss.  Fashola is accountable to people of Lagos.   If they say they want to vent to express their voice in a lawful and non-violent or criminal way and he gives them the latitude to do that, then he is respecting democracy and participation in democracy.

If Gej has problem with that then he has problem with democracy, not with Fashola or Lagos state.  What Fashola has done by allowing people in Lagos to exercise their democratic rights goes a long way in testimony to the fact that he is a very viable asset for Presidency of Nigeria.
Re: Fuel Subsidy: Presidency Queries Fashola Over Lagos Crowd by naijaking1: 12:31pm On Jan 14, 2012
Hypocrisy, syncophancy, back-stabbing; whatever word you use to describe Fashola's action would be in order.
Did the Lagos governor tell his Lagos ACN political operative/demonstrators that he too was aware and indeed approved the removal of fuel subsidy?
I bet he didn't, but chose to play victim for a cheap political advantage angry
Re: Fuel Subsidy: Presidency Queries Fashola Over Lagos Crowd by NegroNtns(m): 12:35pm On Jan 14, 2012
Provide evidence of his approval and if indeed he agreed, in what terms and scale did he suggest?

There are many people that agree to removing it in phases where the success and accountability of a phase is scored and acknowledged before activating the next phase. A flash switch off is what alarmed people and got Gej in trouble.

President Obasanjo God of heaven is commanding you to go and redistribute the wealth of Nigeria according to the law of God equality 2 Corinthians {8:14} withing 7days. Bring back the fuel back to 65N first.

Jesus Christ warning to every soul about the love of earthly and fleshy desire:

2) Mathew {19:24} and again I say unto you, It is Easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. (As you read this you were told)

Reason can be seen in the book 2 Corinthians {8:14} But by an equality, [that] now at this time your abundance [may be a supply] for their want, that their abundance also may be [a supply] for your want: that there may be equality:

That is why God commanded that we should love one another and if we actually did no one we compete
with one another, no one no country would go crazy about money (Greed). Every lonely, widows, poor and beggars shall be fed with plenty. All resources of nations shall be distributed equally as in 2 Corinthians {8:14} due to the gift he has given to us in Galatians 5:22.

The love of money has cause Human kind to war against the gift (Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith) The richer continue to be rich and the poorer continue to be poor, love of money has replace the love of Galatians 5:22.

Mathew {6:19} Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: (As you read this you were told)

Mathew {6:20} But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (As you read this you were told)

Mathew {6:24} No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. ((As you read this you were told)

Mathew {6:29} And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these ((As you read this you were told)

Governors Insist on Removal of Subsidy-Speaking to State House correspondents after their meeting with the President which held in the Presidential Villa late yesterday, the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state said that as far as fuel subsidy is concerned the government will not reverse its decision to withdraw it.

He called on Nigerians to see their sufferings now as the sacrifice they have to pay to ensure that the oil industry is fully deregulated so that government can save money for other development purposes.

The Governors said that Nigerians should rather monitor what the government wants to do with the money instead of going on the streets to demonstrate.

The Governors called on the Nigeria Labour Congress to obey the court order restraining them from carrying out the threat to go on protest, encouraging labour to go on a dialogue with the government because strike will cause more hardship for the masses.

Re: Fuel Subsidy: Presidency Queries Fashola Over Lagos Crowd by NegroNtns(m): 1:20pm On Jan 14, 2012
Again, you all have failed a political question.  If NASS comes out with a law that they voted and approved on, does it mean there are no oppositions at all to the debate?  You will have to look in the register to see who voted for or against.  So, that the Governor's forum agreed to it does not mean it is unanimously.

Second, let us assume Fashola agreed to the removal.  Going by Fashola:s style of discretion and use of wisdom, and as attested in his response in the opening article, it is unlikely he agreed to a flash cut.

Let's stretch this even further,. . . .assuming the governor agreed to subsidy removal with a flash lift, the issue at hand is on exercise of democratic rights.  He agreed to subsidy removal does not equate to silencing the voice of the people. . .the electorate!  Doing so, as GEJ would wish, will equate to silencing democracy.

In any way you look at it, I dont know but it appeared the OP's intent was to humiliate Fashola. . . . but we see that it backfired and Fashola is a supporter and believer in democratic rights and Gej and his government are not.  Thats the theme in this post.

Maybe you think Lagos is in Ghana. Any governor can get matching orders, or even be removed by hardball if their state is breaching the nations security.
