I am glad that we can now begin to see under the covers. We can begin to see the shocking depth of what has been happening in the oil sector, wiser ones will begin to understand why it was so difficult to publish and act on the KPMG audit that govt had ordered as a means to clear the mess.

The reason why many of us supported the immediate removal of the subsidy has now become visible to all; it was cover for all sorts of mind boggling stuff and it has been going on for decades. All the while, the innocent have been wiped out by bullet or pollution in the ND and the average Joe on the street is suckered with N65 per litre. The only option left for a well meaning govt was to kill off the entire system.

The depth and breadth of the corruption around NNPC is becoming public knowledge, but there are much much worse revelations to come. Short of sacking the entire civil service, customs, NNPC, PPPRA, police army and navy, how could anybody cure the mind bending thing that is being revealed to us? GEJ, Iweala and Deziani have done very well in erasing the subsidy regime.

I know there is the usual crowd of haters here, weaving stories that would make stup!dity proud. If a govt abolishes a system, it is because they wish to levy sanity. Any other interpretation is for cretins with their usual lack of analytical skills.

The covers on the dimly lit and impenetrable operations of the oil sector are being exposed to public glare for the first time. And we have GEJ to thank for it.

Importing crude oil! shocked shocked shocked shocked
If unu like, don't get behind GEJ, keep fighting your enemies battle to keep you down, keep being on the side of evil.
Imagine Nigeria importing crude oil and some lazy phucks where #occupying for N65 per litre fuel! There are many more things we will hear, believe me, the news is still coming. Thank God for GEJ.

I hope this serves as a lesson to many. Know your country before embarking on a useless mission, lest you destroy yourself and impede the person trying to save you.
Nuff said. cool

Anyone that watched the proceedings yesterday and today needs no one to interpret anything further to him. . .If we can't figure who the cabals are or, still think there's is one saint in all of these from the C-in-C to the CBN Governor then we are just "hoodlums" as we've been called.

Keeping mute under oppression is some crime.

More truth will filter out , lets stay tuned. .  .let's keep pilling up the pressure . . .keep making our dis-pleasures known, albeit peacefully.

"And who says we'r finished when we've just begun
We are the nation
We are part of this

we are so amazing
That’s the least we shall be
At the heart of the nation changing history

When we have no where else to run to
We have no where else to go
So get out of the way. . . .  ."

I knew oga beaf will summon the courage to spin things in oga patapata Gej's favour.
Let them do the right thing by carrying out a fvll and thorough investigation on all the aspects of our crude oil and energy industry. GEJ definitely benefited from this subsidy thing, if not he would not be acting the was he is acting.
Re: Customs Exposes Subsidy Fraud!!! by 989900: 11:24pm On Jan 18, 2012
There is nothing new or surprising about the revelation  that Kaduna refinery runs on imported oil - that was how it was designed.

It is designed to process 'heavy crude' as against the 'light crude' produced in Nigeria - this heavy crude is typically a Urals blend from Russia or possibly Venezuelan crude. The reasons for using heavy crude is to produce products like asphalt and base oils for lubricants.

As for the conflicting reports between the minister and customs, it is not surprising - it just goes to prove that even the government is not clear on what is going on in the oil industry in Nigeria.

What is shocking however is that customs do not receive documentation on how much petrol gets imported - if we don't check at the point of importation, it is almost certain that any calculation of subsidy is going to be wrong.uh

Actually it was designed to both process our regular crude and heavy crude.

It has a 110,000 barrels/day capacity, out of which 50,000 barrels/day capacity is reserved for heavy crude.

Meaning the rest 60,000barrels/day capacity is meant to process our crude. . . but of course do we have records? Enough reason for any of my staff in my small time business to get fired.

ARES:

yeah nlanders, mouth runners, patriotic cows,  when oprah said that nigerians are corrupt, you ppl jumped out and wore your hypocritic dresses and condemned the woman, when foreign countries say we are corrupt, u say they want to come and take over our oil, now is it getting clear that all the news you have heard on NTA is a lie, or all the policies that has been made since 1999 was just to rob us blind while we applauded to it.
BTW, this wont change anything because when the whole scale of corruption is unveiled, you will see that is affects even the judges and the so called prosecutors, and one way or the other either your uncle or your pastor gets involved, then we will ask for unity government,
so even if you get a document showing how madam allison was carting away the money, duely signed by her with a big "Zap you nigeria" stamp at the bottom, it wont change nothing
the corruption has interwoven so much with our everyday lives that it helps run the economy,

Your sense of reasoning is lopsided.

So the multitude of people requesting for change are doing so because they are also corrupt.

Yeye dey smell.

ARES is damn right. 90% of the #Occupy people were ignorant to criminal levels and not fit to comment on anything outside of their kitchens, all they were concerened about was that fuel MUST cost N65 per litre. It didn't matter that the whole edifice was driven by cringeworthy levels of corruption. They didn't give a phuck about Nigeria or its future.

U dont av 2 spin things in the N65/ltr direction. We all know the subsidy is on its way out. Why is Gej and his close allies spinning us round this cycle of public hearing or whatever they choose to call it?
The man shld do a thorough job by going after his alleged cabals if he is not one of them or is not part of the problem, simple.
Re: Customs Exposes Subsidy Fraud!!! by xpagnol: 12:45am On Jan 19, 2012
the minister said the N245 billion was only meant to service subsidy for the months of January- February 2011 as the government had planned to end the subsidy regime in March 2011 but was pressurised to shelve that.

hahahahah. Ubelievable. so the budget is been done per months now and no longer annualy. Again, she said they are still battling with their actual figures. But they realy calculated 1.3 trillion somehow. Which other item of the budget was done in like manner

Why should the house continue this investigation? I think they should call for her immediate resignation and acute trial.
If this is not done asap then i shall conclude that the country has been sold off without our knowing, DOING PERSONSL BUSINESS WITH THE COUNTRYS NAME AND ONLY COMPESATING THE FG, POSTERITY MUST JUDGE THIS.

If all goes well, all Petroleum Ministers before now, NNPC bosses, PTF bosses. . . All who have been involved in the petroleum sector since 1970 will go to jail.
The essence of what is going on now is the forcing through of another fundamental piece of GEJ's restructuring drive; the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB). It would not have been possible without the subsidy removal and it will be rammed through on the back of the revealation of scandals, as everyone flees for the nearest exit to save their skins.

I have to agree with the first responder, WHAT A CLASSIC SHOW OF SHAME  embarassed embarassed embarassed

Can you imagine how they're contradicting themselves? Custom boss has record and memory better than Mrs Madueke? OMG, this is seriously pissing me off, how do a Petroleum Minister not know if NNPC is importing fuel and crude? Goes on further to draw Dr. NOI into it as well, SHAME on all of them. How come a minister doesn't know how much consumption or better yet how much subsidy goes out each month? For God's sake, hire competent Analysts to do the damn job. Why should easy number take four months to get i.e. if you have records? SHAME on her and Customs Boss for entertaining FRAUD.

There is Heavy crude in Ondo Ogun Edo and Lagos states over 30 billion barrels-

Canada uses around 47% of its Heavy crude/Bitumen to make its petroleum products Why cant naija?
Canada has I think the second largest oil reserves in the world but Half if not Majority comes from Heavy crude found in SW Nigeria.

Naija - dont worry

So the SW has over 30 billion barrels and some people are shouting OCCUPY YOUR RESOURCES

I hope the Lagos 200,000 barrels/day refinery in Lagos will be designed for heavy crude oil.

it is hard to believe u r still pushing the main scam to previous ministers and office holders in the oil sector. $300b to $1.3tr in 2 short years and those contradicting figures from petroleum minister shld be our main discussion. Yes, everybody from 1970 should be jailed. Somebody set up NNPC (Nigerian National Oil Corporation before that) and people have been running its dark methods ever since then. It is on record that our oil industry has been incredibly corrupt since 1970.
You cannot jail those who are blowing the covers open, while leaving the architects of the monster intact; Everybody from Buhari to Rilwan Lukman, Tam David West etc should be jailed; if anybody is found guilty in the present times also, they too should be jailed. If there is going to be a cleaning, then let it be a thorough uprooting, after which NNPC should be folded up and binned.

COMRADES,
THE FALL OUT OF SUBSIDY REMOVAL
ALL CAN NOW AGREED THAT OUR PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM OF GOVERMENT IS TOO EXPENSIVE (469 Legislators, 43 Ministers and plenty of Special Advicers)
TRANSPARENCY-0%
ACCOUNTABILITY-0%
INLFLATION-High
JOBLESS?
EDUCATIONAL SECTOR?
HEALTH SECTOR?
INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES -collapse
CORRUPTION LEVEL -extremely High
INSECURITY EVERYWHERE
THE WAY FORWARD
(1.) Let us go back to Regional goverment that will give room for competition(6 Geo-political zone)
(2.)Reduced the Legistators (SENATE & Representatives ) to 4 per region (TOTAL=24 Each ) sum48 members instead of 496
Because in ideal situation, Each SENATORS should have the statics data of it constituencies in term of
(a) Number of Emloyed
(b)Number of Unemployed
(c)On -going project status and Abandon projects
(d) Monitoring the Local Goverments activities
e.t.c
What you findout now is how to share the allocation AND SECOND TERM AGENDAS
Re: Customs Exposes Subsidy Fraud!!! by Faheedat: 9:03am On Jan 19, 2012

NNPC DID NOT FOLLOW DUE PROCESS -NIGERIA CUSTOM ,   is this  a news at all?
WHAT ARE THEY SAYING NOW?
IS NOW THEY AWARE THAT ALL IS NOT WELL WITH NNPC IN TERM OF THIS DEALS?

Who be fools
GEJ -please overhaul all the Ministry and Parastertals including INEC now
GEJ-Declare emmergency in POWER&ENERGY,EDUCATION, HEALTH,WORKS,PHCN,PETROLEUM,NPA e.t.c
GEJ-commence biometric data capture of all and the results will come out provided your hands is not tight
Re: Customs Exposes Subsidy Fraud!!! by londoner: 9:23am On Jan 19, 2012
My gosh, the corruption happening in the oil sector is much worse than we have imagined. I don't doubt the same magnitude of inefficiency and unadulterated fraud/ looting is not in EVERY sector.

We don't even know accurately how much oil is even produced, let alone where it goes.

We DO NOT have INSTITUTIONS THAT ACTUALLY WORK. THEY ONLY SERVE AS SHOP FRONTS FOR CORRUPTION.

People involved either directly, or having knowledge of this should be investigated and arrested. The only industry which makes billions in Nigeria is oil, the money will lead us to those involved or in compliance.

Whether Madueke, GEJ, OBJ, IBB or anyone else, they need to be investigated and tried in the INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT.

This sudden hike in prices has led to the revelation of lots more information. I wonder whether Madueke was aware that GEJ would make the announcement when he did, maybe she was taken by surprise also, who knows.
Re: Customs Exposes Subsidy Fraud!!! by Valon4ego(m): 9:46am On Jan 19, 2012

Re: Customs Exposes Subsidy Fraud!!! by londoner: 10:41am On Jan 19, 2012
The fleecing of Nigeria has been a long standing arrangement with the NNPC, this did NOT start with Madueke and GEJ, but it has to end on their watch.
Re: Customs Exposes Subsidy Fraud!!! by Faheedat: 10:41am On Jan 19, 2012
Valon4ego,
The centre is deceiving us and we cannot continue like this because CHANGE IS ALL WHAT WE NEED?
INCLUDING GEJ-NOBODY IS READY TO ADDRESS THE MAIN PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE BIG BROTHERS THAT WANTED TO CHOP THE LIFE OF THEIR YET UNBORN JOIN THEIR OWN THINKING THAT THEY WILL REMAIN ON THE EARTH FOR EVER?
IMMAGINE A FORMER MINISTER OF FCT HAD A LANDED PROPERTY OF 50 PLOTS ONLY IN ABUJA (A SINGLE FAMILY).
If you are doubting this revelation let the current Minister of FCT publish the names of the landed property in Abuja including Developed and underdeveloped for all to see and EFCC go in to verify the publication and the records of the transactions?
