It may be the end of the road for Boko Haram and other terrorist organisation in Nigeria as leaders of National Assembly today in Kano, Northwest Nigeria, vowed to revisit the anti-terrorism act.

Senator David Mark.

Senate President, David Mark in company of Speaker of House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and other lawmakers paid a condolence visit to Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

They condemned Boko Haram’s deadly attack of last Friday in Kano during which a number of government installations were destroyed and hundreds of lives lost.

According to Mark, “e will ensure that all these don’t happen again. We will make sure that we prevent it. It is good to forgive but if you lose relatives, brothers, friends, it is very difficult to forgive. But by virtue of virtually all the religions that I know, they always preach forgiveness and we shall leave vengeance to God. For us in government, we will make sure that this does not happen. I want to once more thank you for receiving us and pray for all our departed friends eternal rest in the bosom of Allah.

“The Speaker and I have taken the risk against all security advice to be here, coming together in one aircraft and to be together here with you to assure you and indeed the whole of Kano State that what has happened here is not just that Kano State is affected but the whole National Assembly would stand solidly and strongly behind you and indeed the entire government of Nigeria to ensure that we do not have a repeat of this any more, anywhere in this country.

“In the light of this, we came with Senators and honourable members to show our support and solidarity. We want to ensure that a few misguided Nigerians, who have been led into this action don’t take this country hostage. There is no way we will stand by and watch people commit this type of crime. Indeed, it is not about the Northern region, it is not about Kano State, it is not about religion. What has happened affects the entire nation, to this extent, we will do everything to nip it in the bud.”

He added: “We believe that those who are perpetrating this evil, are misguided and led astray by whatever forces that exist in this country, who do not want the progress of this country. Kano is a commercial hub in this country and anything that affects Kano, naturally will affect the entire country. If there is anything that we in the National Assembly can do in terms of taking a second look at the anti-terrorism act that we had in the past, we will go ahead and do it and give you maximum and legislative support to ensure that those who are involved are brought to book and dealt with according to the law of the land.

“And I think it is time for all good men to speak out in this country and condemn it with all our might, with all our strength and with all our power. There is no question of a scapegoat, low and high, anybody who is involved must be brought to book and indeed it is time for the security agencies too to redouble their efforts to make sure that the acts are prevented even before they happen.

“It is good to arrest those who are involved now that we have already lost a lot of lives and we should do everything possible to make ensure that we prevent further loss of lives in this once more on behalf of the National Assembly sympathise with you and to assure you that we are behind you, all the good people of Kano State, we commiserate with you and sympathise with you and we ask you to forgive those who have perpetrated this act it is the desire of every religion to forgive and leave vengeance to God.”

Responding, Governor Kwankwaso thanked them for the visit, saying that “this visit is very significant to us, it’s very important, especially during these difficult times here in Kano. You are all aware of what happened in Kano on Friday, we had so many explosions, shootings, so many people have lost their lives, we are compiling the number and very soon we will tell the good people of Kano and Nigeria the number of people who have died as a result of this act.

“Let me say that the State government has already directed all the State and Private hospitals to take care of all the victims of the attack, and I am happy to say that we monitored the progress of the victims at the hospitals and the medical personnel involved are really doing a commendable job.

“Let me also say that the government is compiling the list of all the victims of the blast and are looking at ways the state government can assist members of families of the dead victims to cushion the effect of the sufferings.

“The state government is also taking all the necessary measures. We declared a 24-hour and later reduced it by 11 hours and we are still monitoring the situation and as soon as security improves, it will be further reduced.”

Those are potential suicide bombers to be brainwashed. Do you know the havoc that 10 million would create?  Learn to live with that---- says GEJ cheesy.

Mr clueless senate president, u can reduce the three years sentence u give to boko haram members to six months and increase gay sentence from 14 years to 28 years in prison. U can also increase the reward of 100 million naira, to 1 billion, to the family of any other boko haram member who is killed by police. RUBISH and BLEEP set of persons who called themselfs leaders in this country.
Re: We Will Fight Boko Haram With The Law - David Mark by adino(m): 11:34pm On Jan 23, 2012
These lawmakers are the problem with Nigeria and they are very useless, most people keep blaming GEJ forgetting that without the passing of anti-terror law boko foolish will continue to trouble us. If Army and Police arrest these guys the useless judiciary will bail them, but with the anti-terror law any useless boko idiot caught will never be liable to bail. In fact a seperate judicial panel will be set up for them.
Jonathan is just been set up by these foolish lawmakers for nothing and it is a pity Nigerians do not protest for the right things. PLEASE, NIGERIANS SHOULD TELL THE LEGISLATURE TO DO THE FOLLOWING AS A MATTER OF URGENCY AND NATIONAL IMPORTANCE:
1. PASS ANTI TERROR BILL
2. PASS P.I.B
3. SET UP A SEPERATE COURT FOR THE E.F.C.C

Am pretty sure their is a sentence, on a page, in the law, that states, use force if necessary, just like the way they used force on innocent citizen days ago, while they were abiding by the law, what is wrong with using forcing quickly, with people who are by every meas, not abiding by the law angry
