I reside in Spain, I am looking for land to Farm anywhere between West of Lagos and Asaba, about 10 Hectares. Electricity and Water nearby would be an asset, But i am ready to install generating plant and provide a borehole. I will send the farm machinery and other equipment from Spain

Re: Farming And Farmland In Nigeria by sojseyi: 8:42am On Jan 30, 2012
it depends on the area you want to secure land i.e wer the land is situated.but land for farming purposes could range from 150k - 500k per hectare (6plots).

What do you wish to farm i.e. what kind of crops, as 10 acres is not large for industrialized farming
Re: Farming And Farmland In Nigeria by Nobody: 7:47am On Mar 01, 2012
I can get you land in Ogun or Oyo states, where I am also negotiating for land. Most of the villages prefer to lease but you may also buy. But to this business you have to be on the ground or create a good system. And no, there is no tariff on farm equipment. If you want more info, contact me on mr.kontroll@aol.com.

Your best bet is to lease agricultural lands officially from the Ogun State Government
There are areas marked as agricultural lands in Ogun State
Very cheap and you'll have peace and rest
Buying land from the villagers can mean big trouble in future
Take the pains to lease it officially

I am a contract farmer and you don't need to buy lands to farm because there are farm settlements in Nigeria and all you need is to pay for the cropping period per hectare. In Ekiti where I have planted 29 hectares this year with TMS 30572 cassava variety all we paid was N4000 per hectare. (An hectare is 15 plots).

Interesting. What was the yield per hectare you got after harvesting? How much did you spend on labour and herbicides?
