It would be a miracle if the police on the Benin-Shagamu road heed this order. Previous orders like these were never obeyed. What people believed then was that the police hierachy benefits from these toll collections from the check points, hence they had no will to enforce the order, because doing so will remove the source of free money. But if the situation is otherwise, this is another chance to find out. |

Are road blocks not check points? When they use those warfront shields to create an S-curve on the highways, they also stand nearby to be inspecting cars for 'we dey hear o'. |

I think the IGP is on course, the level of compliance is encouraging, i believe they should maintain the tempo and bring sanity to the Force. To whom much is given much is expected.I salute the courage of the IGP it's a good starting point and hope we all give him the necessary support as civillians. |

Infact, i thank God for the new IG's drastic decision on police is commendable. Police contributed a lot as far as corruption in Nigeria is concerned. There are no police on roads in Idimu, Lagos. |

IF by 7.00pm-8.00 pm i dont see any stand down, checking points even right of police stations and not just along the eve busy akowonjo to ikotun road, then i would believe they have complied. but till then, these men in black are jus hiding while idling around to see if the police task force are cruising round. |

The current IG seems to have been an excellent choice, especially considering the effort put in to get him; the top cadre of of the police force was sacked (along with Ringim) just to get to him. If armed robberies increase at this time, then we know it is the useless, bribe taking police looking for alternative means to rob and fleece the public now that their "roger" roadblocks are going. If the IG is really on his toes, then at least three quarters of the police force should be on the way out, maybe up to half are boko haram members anyway. Nice start. |

There should be numbers people can call if anyone is flouting this directive. There should also me summary dismissals to serve as deterrents to anyone that would want to continue flouting these directives. If there are some high-level dismissals then I think the message would have been passed across. The police of the police unit should be reorganized with men of good moral standing and an unblemished track record. |
