I was listening to a discussion on radio today morning about the modern day woman not wanting to give up her maiden name and if she does so, she will only hyphenate it in order to include her husband's name and will not give it up entirely.. Is this acceptable or does it seem disrespectful to the husband? |

Hello Dynamite, as for me I prefer having my husband name or having both my Maiden and matrimonial, but I wouldn't blame a lady who wants to keep her name We don't know background of people ans their fears, so I prefer not judging them they may have reasons for that |

a name is a defining identity and nothing more! If her husband allows her include her maiden name in her name,is it anyone's headache? As long as it doesnt bring any conflict in the home,i dont see anything wrong with it! |

This is something I'm still tryna decide for myself. My last name is so unique that I wouldn't want to let go of it. Just gonna have to wait till that time comes. |

As long as my name is included and is your surname, you can add 100 hyphenated names in between. . . |

Is this acceptable or does it seem disrespectful to the husband? Why would it seem disrespectful? If the husband doesn't hyphenate his name as well, why isn't that seen as disrespectful to the wife? I don't see anything wrong or disrespectful about a woman choosing to keep her maiden name. As for hyphenating, that is a personal matter of the individual but for me, it seem like a one sided option because unlike the option of both partners keeping their individual last name, hyphenating includes the name of one individual while disregarding the other. |

Same thing goes to you. You being a guy doesn't mean that you're immune to any of those things or that is that is all she has to offer that it has automatically sealed the deal for her to take on your name. |
