Let me also add that it's the same reason why religious people mandate you to attribute your success to a higher being - they are not comfortable with the fact that there are people with better abilities than them. So, if you read your books and being intelligent enough you excel in your exam you better attribute it to Jesus otherwise you will begin to draw attention and envy.
