Why don't you go for a post graduate course which cancels out the B.Sc syndrome anyway? and then continue with a masters degree with a professional certificate somewhere ICAN? ACCA?

Go for your ACA qualification. With that, your current employer will respect you and you will be hot cake in the labour market. I have an MSc , yet my ACA is more recognised.

Just go for a proffessional course first. It takes a shorter period, it just requires brilliance!

Hi
I graduated from the university of Ibadan with a degree in adult education. I got into IT early to compliment my degree and now I work as head of IT for a group of 8 companies. I am also a photographer and run some startups.
I never thought I would use my degree but I find myself researching more into adult education and social work, am sure I will be doing something in that sector soon.
Continuous self development never hurt anybody.

Op, go 4 a professional certification. I will recomend ACCA over ICAN for the ffg reasons. ACCA is a 3 in 1 qualification. As u are doing ur ACCA, u are equally running a Bsc.(Applied Accounting) of Oxford Brookes University UK also, ICAN readily absorb u upon completion of ur ACCA, thus u have an UK university Bsc in applied accounting, ACA and ACCA. Also, ACCA gives u intternational recognition unlike ICAN

Look at how some of you are saying "go for ACA, go for ICAN or ACCA" as if it is for free.

seconded. I hate to hear that HND graduates are thinking of "upgrading" to Bsc when they can go for PGD and then masters.

I have heard of B.Ed Accountancy/Management, maybe you can browse the website of the school you are interested in
I have a feeling you will be studying mostly the same modules as those doing the BA/Bsc Accounting

theres still something i dont get, a candidate with HND plus ACA/ICAN/ACCA surely should be at par with BA/BSc candidate

Alas, PGD programme does not equate HND with B.Sc. It only allows you to do your M.Sc. in SOME universities, especially outside Southwest. ACA or ACCA is ok since it will enhance your job. But that is not enough, get a DEGREE. WE ARE IN NIG.

@ poster,

Accept my sympathy at how you have been treated at your place of work. This is what our society has turned into and until we stop putting emphasis on university education as only source of survival, we will never develop in this country. See below my views, and that is why I keep wondering why people keep making same mistake of going to POLY or run PART TIME program, however our society looked down upon such qualifications (so sad), my views

1. Did you serve, that is NYSC (another means of stiffening people)
2. If you did i will advise you go for any university degree even b.ed part time, university degree is universal knowledge, it is to provide foundation for integration into any society.
3. Furthermore you could apply for a post HND degree in any university, normally u start from 300 level
4. Please do not be deceived a post graduate qualification does not make u equal to university graduate may be on paper, but nigerian employers dont think so, this is reality
5. I know you can cross to ANY Organisation if you do part time because your NYSC cert has covered up the other questions employers always ask, service
Also do not go to do any professional exam, it is not equal to university education, u also cannot say how many years you will spend to qualify, what if you never did.

6. take it from me, I studied education, but i worked in a multinational, it was never an issue, but then what is wrong with b.ed, u can teach and become a professional thru certification, ask those who teach in lekki british international or saint saviours pry sch in ikoyi.

Regards & God bless as you try to better your self.

Are we sure that this guy truely got HND? I can not honestly think that he'll be asking such a question if he truely earned the HND. Well, anything can happen these days. He is contributing to the demise of HND. Must anybody advice u to go prof after ur Degree or HND in accounting? What a pity.

I read mathematics/computer science education [B.Sc(Ed)]. Is this truly a double honor? Do i stand the chance to work in the capacity that a BSc holder would work? Is University of Ibadan a fine place to do my Msc in Maths?

The decision is urs considering the followings
1) If u go for B.ed, though teacher do succeed bt the chances re slim...here in naija..we re in survival of the fittest
2) If u go for PGD, Master, its does not equate u with som1 wth B.sc & master
3) Bt if u go for ICAN/ACCA it will boast ur professionalism as its what most employers want, though it has the following obstacle in which u can overcomes wth God assistant..........Its involve much money, its needs brillancy, frequently reading & understanding, its need committment (if u fail, do get discourage no matter hw many times)
My reccomendation to u as a married woman....go for professional exam...(ICAN/ACCA)nt cheap and non recognized ones as ur expertise is what employer wants
