It actually depends on the angle you are coming from. I agree that Ugwuanyi's performance has been below expectation, but it is not as bad as you guys are painting it.

How long will we continue to concentrate 90% of government spending on Enugu city alone?

What sense does it make to make Enugu City like Dubia while other towns like Oji River, Nsukka, Agbani, Agwu etc are left without basic infrastructure.

Ugwuanyi may have failed in a lot to things but one area he is trying to leave a legacy is in RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE and i commend him highly on that.

He should just leverage on what Sullivan has achieved by maintaining the already constructed infrastructure, rather than leaving them to decay. Those are places where majority of the populace reside. The People will be pleased
While at it , he can then continue with his rural projects.

It breaks my heart how every Tom, Dick and Harry insult the Governor over simple tasks that would have given him a good name in the eyes of the people.
The level of sabotage by the same people he pays for publicity will make you understand how selfish people have become.

Kason Paul Ogenyi my boy always face me. Have you eaten today? I know it is painful for a cursed timid illiterate Nsukka bastard like you but you have to face reality. Once Anambra international airport is completed, that useless airport in Enugu shall be closed down completely so that Enugu people will be using the one in Anambra.

Because of your useless incompetent fat Nsukka gov that Enugu useless airport has been closed down for one year. This is because Enugu state is a cursed backward shithole state ravaged by poverty, erosion, illiteracy, backwardness etc.

Very soon ebonyi shall have airport too, while your useless incompetent governor is sitting down eating semo and onugbu soup.

Ugwuanyi used his manhood for rituals, till date he doesn't have a child. Enugu people are cursed

I am from Enugu state but I just wish I am from Anambra
Enugu state is cursed. I spit on the state. cheesy

Chinobastardaw:

Chino how can I be envious of what we had when your grand father was born. We already had airport far back which you guys are just trying to build, we lead while u follow.. Funny enough u don't deserve that airport, use asaba if you're coming to onitsha or use Enugu Airport if you're going to Awka... They'reore pressing needs in Anambra like tackling erosion and preventing fathers from raping their daughters.. Anambra needs to tackle that fast.. Also how will you feel if the airport is washed away by erosion like the rest of the houses in Anambra.. Let's be factual :

Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by NSUKKAboy4KASON: 4:10pm On Jul 22
I am from Enugu state but we are not the real igbos, Enugu people are 2nd class igbos. Anambra people are is the first son of igbo land and also the capital and origin of igbos.

Enugu is a disorganized, disjointed village. There's no single FLYOVER in the whole of Enugu. Enugu is an embarrassment for a TOWNSHIP. Enugu is filled with shanties and slum.

Enugu state is cursed ravaged with poverty illiteracy, erosion. Enugu is a shithole littered with armed robbers, kidnappers. Enugu is the worst state in the entire southeast and south south region. Enugu state people are 3rd class igbos. Enugu state people are outcasts. cheesy

Anambra international airport shall serve Enugu state people because there is no need for an airport in a backward shithole state like Enugu.

Chinobastardaw:

Anambra can never be the capital... There is no single organised city in Enugu state.. What you have are slums and shanty with erosion pulling down most buildings.. Anambra should be busy or seen to be busy tackling it's numerous erosion sites and also bringing up its morals and see to it that their fathers stop raping their daughters.. Case closed... Anambra doesn't deserve an airport as well, they should use Enugu or asaba airport

ABANDONED OGURUGU AIRPORT AND SEA-JETTY (SEA PORT):
TALES OF THE ABANDONED TREASURES & GLORY OF UZO UWANI LGA

Ogurugu, a coastal town which, if it had been handled differently by the succeeding governments, should today be at similar level of development and city awareness with Onitsha Anambra State because of its (Ogurugu) historical connection with the early European (whitemen) traders, the UAC, JOHN HOLT etc who traded in local produce like Palm Oil, Palm kernel, timber logging, fishes etc. All these goods/wares were either produced or brought to OGURUGU port from all over Igbo Nsukka from where they were shipped to Onitsha, Lokoja and outside world.
Today the OGURUGU town is a ghost of it's itself, artifacts of European presence littered the town.
THE OGURUGU AIRPORT
Airport in OGURUGU Uzouwani may sound like story from the space or a fairytale but it's empirically true and real.
It was an Airport said to be awarded by the Military regime of Gen Olusegun Obasanjo. At the airport, we found solid structures in a vast expanse of land. We found the runway, the tarmac, the control stations and other things that make up an Airport or Airstrip with a glaring evidence, that the facility has suffered total abandonment, deterioration and looting.
The most surprising finding we made at the Airport was the conversion of the Aerodrome facility to personal use by the former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Charles UGWU. It was revealed that he was using it for milling and re-bagging of rice, using his Company name, Tara Agro Company Ltd.
In our chat with a community leader named ONWUEME MOSES who happens to be the son of the Eze Ala that donated the land to the Federal Government for the construction of the Airport between 1977 and 1978, we were made to understand that a man named CLEMENT CHINEDU from Imo state claimed that he bought the facility from the Federal Government and sold it to the Fmr. Minister, MR. CHARLES UGWU, the Director of TARA AGRO COMPANY LTD.
We also got privy information that the Fmr Minister doesn't want people to know about the existence of such a facility.
In our interview with one of the Supervisors that worked at the Airport in the 70s, he noted that work stopped at the Airport at the inception of a new government in 1979 and the then civilian government shifted focus away from OGURUGU Airport.

THE OGURUGU SEA-JETTY
Another big modern facility in OGURUGU town that has been abandoned is the Ogurugu inland Sea Port from where Colonialists entered Northern Igbo Land and where the entire Igbo nation in this side of the world traded their goods and transported their agricultural products to the outside world especially, through Onitsha.
We were also shown debris of what is left of the Commercial Bank used by Colonialists and Igbo Traders at the Port for transactions in Ogurugu.
From the facts we gathered, the proper reconstruction of the Sea Jetty and the proper dredging of the Omambala/Mabolo River
was attracted by our Govnor, Rt Hon Ifeanyi UGWUANYI when he was the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Marine and Ports Authority. UGWUANYI ensured that the development of the sea jetty commenced in earnest with some construction on the ground, however, the locals we chatted with, stated that work is no longer going on at the Sea Jetty and that they do not know why such life-saving and sustaining facility should be abandoned

IGGAH OIL FIELDS
Its heart-rending that Oil Fields situated under Iggah Land in Uzo Uwani LGA of Enugu State are today said to be in Anambra State and Anambra State indigenous Oil Company, ORIENT extracting Oil under the Iggah Land

His predecessor uplifted the city and did 1000x more in the rural areas.
He has no excuse, he simply has performed very poorly.
This thread is a clear testimony.
Just take a look at the disastrous quality of the meagre projects he initiated.
No need putting a lipstick on anything.

Despite the identification of access to potable water as a major factor in preventing COVID-19 infection, Eziama, a community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, lacks access to clean water and currently depends on Idodo River for its water supply.

In a Facebook post by Mandela Washington Fellow, researcher, author, and founder of Haske Water Aid and Empowerment Foundation, Ms. Chibuzor Mirian Azubuike, alleges that the NGO has mobilised resources, alongside its partner, Hope Spring Water NGR, to sink “the only public borehole” in the community.

“This is as a safety precaution to stop the spread of COVID-19,” Azubuike said.
Haske, through its Facebook page, beamed searchlight on the agrarian community whose only source of drinking water is alleged to be the Idodo River.

A woman sieving fufu, a food made from cassava, inside the filthy Idodo River. Photo: Twitter
In February, Researcher on Environment and Food Security, Dr. Daniel Ugwu, via his Twitter handle, @dannyugwu, noted that Eziama community “has never had a borehole (private or public) constructed for them before, either by government or private organisations.”
Ugwu said, “The river serves as the community’s source of water for drinking, cooking, bathing and washing.

“Some members of the community walk several miles to get to the river, these are mostly women and children.

“The elderly, mostly women, who cannot come to fetch water from the river, have to pay young men with motor bikes to fetch water from the river for them (the faire ranges from 50-100 naira per 20 litres of water, depending on distance).

“The same water used for drinking without any treatment is where the villagers ferment their cassava (used for fufu production) for up to seven days and also sieve the fufu inside the river, all of which flows down to where they are being fetched for the purpose of drinking and cooking.

“The people of this community are faced with severe #WaterPoverty and their plight deserves urgent attention.

“This thread is not to shame or embarrass anyone but to solicit for intervention so that the beautiful people of Eziama can live improved and healthier lives.”

Haske says the socio-economic life of about 2,000 people in Eziama community revolves around the Idodo River, which provides basins for fisheries and is also used to ferment cassava by almost every household.

However, due to various activities carried out in it daily, the river can only be accessed in the early hours of the day as a source of drinking water, by which time sediments from previous day’s activities might have settled at the base of the river, Haske added.

According to aid agencies, 60 million Nigerians, or 33 percent of the population do not have access to clean water.

Reports have shown that poor access to sanitation and potable water are two major drivers of water-borne diseases and COVID-19 transmission in Nigeria.

The Africa Centre for Disease Control said over 50 per cent of people in many African countries are without access to basic water supply, even as frequent hand washing with soap and clean water is a major preventive measure against COVID-19.

The health agency lamented that people in the rural areas are the worst hit by the lack of access to water, adding that, “Preventive measures such as good hand and respiratory hygiene and maintaining physical distance are effective for preventing the spread of COVID-19.”

Despite Nigeria being a party to the United Nations Declaration of the Right to Water, which entitles every one living in Nigeria to sufficient, affordable, safe and acceptable water for personal and domestic uses, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, in March, said majority of Nigerians are still exposed to unsafe and contaminated water.

The ministry said available statistics were not favourable to the country’s quest of achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 6 for water and sanitation, noting that it had become imperative for all water service providers, including state water agencies and community water committees, to develop their drinking water supply system.

Again, a survey conducted by Nigeria’s Bureau of Statistics and UNICEF revealed that millions of households in Nigeria were yet to have access to clean water sources.

The survey also showed that while the supply of clean water in Nigeria has improved recently, three in 10 people still lack access.

The United Nations Children’s Fund said 73 percent of the diarrhoeal and enteric disease burden is associated with poor access to adequate water, sanitation and hygiene, and is disproportionately borne by poorer children.

“Only 26.5 percent of the population use improved drinking water sources and sanitation facilities,” UNICEF stated.

Haske Water Aid and Empowerment Foundation on its website said the aim of its intervention was to “continuously make clean, potable water accessible to all rural communities in Nigeria, especially now that COVID-19 pandemic has increased the need to take sanitation and hygiene seriously.”
