The New nairaland and it's Negative effect on your website by Afam4eva(m): 4:58pm On Jul 09, 2012
After a long break from backlinking and optimizing my website, it was sitting pretty on the second and third page of google Nigeria search for the keyword "web hosting". All of a sudden, i noticed that my website was hovering between the 4th, 5th and 6th page and i just overlooked it thinking maybe it's because i've not backlinked for quite some time. But recently i logged into my Google webmaster account to check the websites that are feeding me with cool backlinks only for Nairaland to be missing. I was flabagasted because Nairaland has always occupied the first position as my number one source of backlinks. I was even more dumbfounded because my nairaland signature link has been sitting pretty. Just today, i just logged out from my Nairaland accoun only to discover that signatures don't show when you're not logged in. Which means that google does not see your nairaland. I think this is unfair to webmaster that have given their all to this forum only to be repaid by Seun with wickedness and great contempt.

I want to use this opportunity to appeal to Seun to give us our link juice that he has stolen from us. At least give it to people that have a specific number os posts or have been on nairaland for a long time.

undecided As far as I can remember, signatures dont show on nairaland even before the new design.

Then, when you say Seun's wickedness; how then do you expect him to address this? You think he did such to specifically reduce your backlinks??

Try a better appeal!

Wait o, signatures don't show when you are not logged in? shocked WTF? Anyways I used nairaland and naijapals to gain traffic for my blog in the past and it really helped me then, but right now it has completely killed my pageranks, imagine a blog page rank from 2 to 0? Since then I just stopped posting on forums, and I am only here because its a very interesting community and sometimes its. Worth the time.

Good advice I always read is don't work for search engine rather work for users as there are so many external factors associate with search engines.

The days of backlinks are numbered, with the new Google panda and penguin SEO update, Google doesn't rank a site based on backlinks only now, quality contents are the key. I have some affiliate blogs ranking 1 on Google without a single backlink
