[quote author=lacasa]Hello all,

i drive a. 2k5 honda accord, ii αve a problem.

While i'm driving i notice dat after i slow down or wen i want ϯo re-accelerate sometimes, the engine vibrates (shakes) until i lift my foot off the throttle completely, bt wen i put my foot back on the throttle it moves normally.

i thought it was the spark plugs causing this, but i've changed the 4 plugs with new ones but it still does same.

a mechanic said it's probably from the fuel pump.

it has done 2 my 98 model, check d fuel pump capacity

what do you mean by gear ? do you mean gear box?

it is manual or automatic

and what was the problem with gearbox if it is what you mean

Yes @gear box. Automatica. V6. It jerks like crazy and ve taken it to few mechanics wit claim dat they can fix it but to no avail. Its not the filter the last dude that worked on it recommended a new gear box.

Tnx once more. My tyres are less than a year old. Infact they are all 2011 tyres.
Last check (about 2 months ago) was told dat both upper n lower arms r ok. Dat
was when I replaced d tie-rod ends, stabilizer links n front discs. Dis vibration is
actually driving me crazy. Cos of my faith in Honda I bought it instead of
Camry. My friend who bought Camry same time I bought dis Accord even says
2 me "see I told u". I kno Accord has advantages over Camry n vice-versa but...

There just 2 remaining things u ll need to check which causes a steering to vibrate.

1. Wheel balance - if its not the tyre i could be the rim. Have those front tyres properly balanced, the technician should be able to tell you if there is any problem on the wheel

2. Drive shaft inner cup/bearings - the inner cup is the ends of the shaft that is on the gear box. if it is worn out it causes vibration especially when accelerating. So also the 3 bearings each has inside it.

By what u have mentioned, 1 of the two is responsible.

because service & maintainance hv been neglected, periodically ask ur technician 2chek ur shaft rubber for tear & wear, if sand gets into it

I drive a honda accord 97 (bulldog) and i feel hard jerks when it changes from one gear to another. could it be the engine mounts or the gear is getting fritz?

Please guys,
I drive a '97 Bulldog, which i got in Nov. 2011. I observed that the fuel consumption of that car is on the high side. I've taken it to various mechanics, all to no avail. My mechanic worked on it again last week as i was to travel to Benin with it. I bought a full tank of 65 litres on Friday, and it took me for a total of 305kms (The longest distance a full tank had taken me) from Owerri to Benin and back to Owerri, before it entered reserve. Someone should please advise me on what else to do about this, thanks.

well even here UK not all mechanics can tackle a automatic gearbox you have to take it to specialises in automatic gearbox, when i was back home in zim i never liked automatics based on the idea that most mechanics wouldnt fix an automatic gearbox now i love automatics becoz i understand them though i dont fix them

so recomend you to automatic gearbox specialist if there is none better get a replacement

edoyad: My mechanic wants me to change the Condenser of my A C, he said a bigger one would be better than the one it came with. Is this sound advice?
A bigger Condenser will lead to engine vibration as it will more power to run.

I know a few people have proposed varying solutions to this problem, but I would ask your mechanic to check the front brake disks. Why?

Though I mostly drive a Toyota Camry 2007 model and a Toyota Prado 2006, I've a experienced the same problem you are faced with. At about 80km/hr, the steering wheel starts to vibrate and it vibrates even more violently when you step on your brakes. This is due driving with worn out brake pads (This link shows that worn out brakes are the most common issues with the Honda Accord 2008 http://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Accord/2008/brakes/premature_brake_wear.shtml). Your mechanic may either have to 'skim' the front brake discs or replace them entirely.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you're faring with this issue.

Thanks for this thread, i have honda civic '92 model automatic. recently it doesn't go more than 40km/hr or can't enter gear 3. changed the gear fluid and the transmission restored to normal just for a day and the problem surfaced. i now noticed that in the morning time b4 the oil heats up, it goes up to 80km/hr and after heating up, the problem starts again. should i change the gear box?
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by iykeG(m): 10:59pm On Jul 23, 2012
Tell your mechanic to check the sensors around the gear box if they are working properly.

Hi again,

i took the advice from all posters †ђat repplied me n found dat;-

3 out of 4 engine seats were broken.

Now, i've changed them bt wats strange is dat, now i get hard jerks wen i move from one gear ϯo another anϑ wen reducing gears as well.

Itz gotten worse than before (i put new engine seats).

i'm confused, instead of getting better, the situation is worse after replacing the 3 engine seats.

Pls, any reason 4 this

Help cry

diagnose it 1st

the reason i left the diagnostic as hooking up to an ODBII tool kit its becoz he never mentioned that MIL light come on, on the dashboard which means the problem is not related to the sensors so roughly its mechanical there many mechanics are not good with automatic gear box

unless if you mean taking out the gearbox down and do a visual check

Yea, gettin hard kicks when you change gears happens to my Avalon too. I fink reducing your engine may reduce the problem. Mine was terrible b4: each time i change gear in traffic, the cars jerks so hard people starts staring at my car, but my mechanic reduced it to the lowest and its not that bad anymore. Hope this help a bit

Hi again,
The sensors around the gear box is what somepeople call gear box switch right ? pls can some one kindly tell me the cost for the switch. i use a bull dog. When the car is warm, it does not reverse even when it is in R. So i would like to check the switch area (as advised) before deciding whether to change the complete gear box or not. Many thanks !

Any help guys,
I got this Honda accord 03/04. the maintenance light comes on anytime i start the engine, but goes off after blinking for few seconds i.e 7sec. Also my TCS and brake light stays on permanently. but the car is in good condition. I just serviced the car few weeks ago, even though the transmission fluid has not been changed in like 3years now. Can it be that the maintenance light blinking is for transmission fluid change? if YES, then am scared running a new transmission fluid into the tran box bearing in mind all the scary stories of damaging the tran box if the transmission fluid is overhaul. Honda transmission gurus in the house,ur candid advise is needed.
