The "Sentinese" do not ask to be saved, and saved from what?, they lived on that island for more than 60 000 years. The Sentinelese are the oldest people on the planet with a fully developed pineal gland. They are "psychic" and survived many tsunamis for thousands and thousands of years in the past. In 2004 the Sentinelese were able to sense the coming of the tsunami and escape to higher ground before it arrived because they are highly intuitive people and are in tune with "Mother nature" The Sentinelese people are the real indigenous people to that land since the time when the planet was populated only by black people

I advise everyone to watch the full video, you will learn a lot
watching but now. But so far I must disagree with the video. Jawara, Sentinelese etc have more phenotypic and behavioral traits in common with modern bantu Africans than current Indians who remain closely reflective of their Australian aboriginal cousins and many east Africans.

Politics / Re: Who's Interest Is Nnamdi Kanu Now Serving? by AAinEqGuinea: 7:13am On Nov 30, 2018
BiafraIShere:
Before I commence with this article, I want to provide a link to an earlier one I wrote on questions that must be answered now that NK has resurfaced https://www.nairaland.com/4798415/questions-must-answered-now-nnamdi

Some of the questions I raised earlier on that post were partially answered yesterday, and I must say that as I got those information from the horse's mouth, I felt sad and depressed because a noble cause, albeit one that took the lives of youths in their prime and equally caused injuries, loss of properties and suffering to many others, have finally hit the rocks!!

I have always liked and supported Nnamdi Kanu and all he stood for pertaining to the Biafra agitation, and also voluntarily observed the sit-at-homes whenever it was called regardless of the inconvenience and loss of income it always resulted in, which I saw as a little sacrifice from my own part.

I'm sad and depressed that Nnamdi Kanu has finally chose the path of Uwazuruike by allowing the same people he was fighting against to compromise him!!

We Igbos always take pride in our republicanism and independent minded lifestyle, which makes us to mock others from the north and west of almajiri or herd mentality of following whatever they were instructed to do, without critically thinking on what is best for them but I'm shocked that we are now doing the same shameful acts we derided others for!!

Now, NK said that he was able to escape with the help of MOSSAD and Biafra intelligence.... WTF is that? Are we children that you tell make-believe fairy tales and expect them to believe such cor.k & bull story?? His lawyer affirmed that he was on the phone right in his room when the NA broke into his compound while shooting sporadically, so at what point did he escape? Was he airlifted with a chopper? Did he disguise himself and escape? Did he use jazz to vanish??

Secondly, is he now saying that Orji Kalu was right after all in claiming he was in London all these while??
Is NK now saying that those who claimed to have seen him buying pizza in Ghana were right too??

Thirdly, if he has been a free man all these while, then why did he not only stay away but also kept mum while many men, women and children continued to be killed, maimed and confined in cell??

Fourthly, why would he resurface at this point in time if he had been free all these while??

Fifth, what does he mean by "his absence was forced on him"? Did he mean he decided to stay away in hiding or he was being held captive??

Sixth, why did he condemn Abia governor, some Igbo elite etc yet he couldn't curse buhari, the same person that sent the NA after him (whom he had always cursed at every given opportunity)?

Seventh, whose interest is he serving by asking Igbos/Easterners not to vote? Would not voting automatically grant us referendum? Or do we still continue to suffer under the terrorist while hoping that UN would wake up one day and declare Biafra??

Eighth, he said he was coming back with hell? What does he mean by that, is it hell with mouth that would radicalize youths into facing armoured tanks with sticks and stones or is he coming with ballistic missiles and hydrogen bomb??
I can bet a million dollars that NK is not stepping into the country any time soon because it wouldn't be part of the agreement he reached with APC, rather he would remain where he is while preaching election boycott over the radio.

I can go on and on to list the many reasons why I believe that NK has been compromised by Buhari and the APC government but space won't permit me.

In conclusion, I believe that NK was kidnapped during that attack in his father's palace and was held hostage off the coast of Bayelsa as was earlier alleged, and after many months of being kept there, the APC government having realized that Atiku was a big threat to Buhari's reelection, decided to offer NK freedom knowing that he was going to declare election boycott in the SE and SS, the stronghold of the opposition, which would automatically mean the disenfranchisement of millions of voters that would ordinarily have voted against Buhari.

You bring up good points. But firstly, we can not blame Nnamdi for the death that comes with him or IPOB exercising Free speech which is supposed to be a component of a Democracy which Nigeria claims. Unless Nigerians are complacent living under a [Muslim] authoritarianism which is really what Buhari is and has demonstrated by shooting/killing IPOB protestors, jailing Kanu, jailing Biafrian women, protecting murderous herdsmen, and even sending so-called "pythons to dance/kill" as an attempt to silence Kanu-- Buhari is and has been FAR from what ANYONE sees as 21st century Africa or Nigeria.

Nnamdi has ALWAYS expressed that he doesnt seek political position whether it be for Nigeria, Biafra or even so-called Israel. He brings up GREAT points of failure seen in Nigeria and throughtout Africa, not just singling one particular tribe. He's simply your latest dissenter--a guy who tirelessly brings up the hard questions while playing the populace on their ongoing and complacent belief in traditional and abstract Hope and Change by God, which has made the political inept (like Buhari) and opportunistic corrupts very uncomfortable. This is again why Buhari sent "pythons" to kill/arrest Kanu. Buhari and others know theyre collectively mor0ns undeserving of leadership seats that they currently hold for their own gain. Dont hate the messenger.

Dont blame Kanu for rehashing these important issues, and their underlying problems, which all points to failed Leadership. All of Africa suffers from it in one shape or another. If Nigeria claims to play Democracy they should play it fair and stop sending "pythons" threatening to kill dissenters' families, and then maybe Nnamdi would have faith in this so-called system at the very least.

THE JARAWA CAMPAIGN

is a global outreach campaign that aims to introduce you to one of the most ancient people in the world, the Jarawa.

They live on the Andaman Islands in India. They are the first indigenous asians people. They came from Africa 70,000 years ago. They had lived in complete isolation for 50,000 years. Today, they are only 480 left of them, and they are in great danger. They Indian government assimilates them by force. The Jarawas are treated like animals in zoo by tourists and Indian scientists want to give them bananas to "educate" them.

The JARAWA CAMPAIGN is the only campaign that focuses only on the Jarawa people to make a real impact. Because the Jarawas have talked with us and we have recorded their message that we relay worldwide to spread their call for self-determination. The Indian government is fully aware of the campaign and they have threatened us many times.

Our first goal is to gather 1,000,000 signatures.

Petition text :

To the Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Damodardas Modi, the Indian Minister of Tribal Affairs Mr Shri Mansukhbhai Dhanjibhai Vasava, AAJVS President Mr Nabanita Ganguly and Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Mr Ajay Kumar Singh:

"The Jarawa, the most ancient people in the world, is being endangered by your government's policies. Whereas the Jarawa told us that they do not wish to join the Indian community and that they want to continue to live far from our world, you are denying them the right to choose their own future by pushing them to assimilate.

As citizens from around the world, we request that you close the Andaman Trunk Road that cuts through their forest, fight effectively against the poachers who continue to plunder their game and regularly report on the situation of the Jarawa and the consequences of your actions for them. We request that you provide all the necessary guarantees so that the Jarawa may continue to live as they wish."

Is it a curse or advantage that tribes like these remain in isolation? Personally I commend them and also continental pygmies for hanging on, not believing that their existent and self-worth is wholly dependent on "modernism". If only other black Africans werent other black Africans' first level enemy, with their expansionist, money hunger, and uncontrolled guerilla movements, especially in CAR, thinking theyre so African to the core, chasing after white dreams coasting off white expansionism.

Lets get straight to the point, if the African Union cant save African people, what makes anyone believe that they can save the "Sentinese"? Even tho this latest killing of a Christian Missionary's attempt to "save them" is a HUGE statement to the world.. "Sentinelese" or "Jawaras" are one of the last true adjoining Africans left (along with Haitians) who are true to themselves while not even modeling their governance and way of life from what is done in superior countries, while watching the majority of Africa fall on the sword of Muslim or Christian imperialists sooner or later in some capacity or another.

The Christian missionary got what he deserved. This missionary was warned and yet broke India's local and national laws for his chance to attempt to "Christopher Columbus" these people. His bible also warns of "breaking the law of the land".

Worse case scenario the "sentinelese" are the last of a dead black Africa, including its descendants, even if the world kills them in retaliation, best yet i respect India for protecting them for this long. "Sentinelese" may be isolated from the world but SOMEHOW they knew to kill that man.

brojoshua:
Foolish NLC, does giving workers minimum of #30,000 solve the problems of Nigeria or the workers. And can employees single-handedly force their employer to pay them what they want and demand? The set of people who should fight the senators, governors and so on to reduce the large salaries and renunciations they are receiving are the ones threatening to vote out any governor who will not pay what they demand. I am not against paying them good salaries, I am even in favor of paying job seekers good money monthly to provide for their needs, but the generation of workers and people who are threatening to vote out any governor or government who will not pay them what they demand is not a generation that has any good for their country. Such people don't care whoever is voted into the leadership of the country or states, they don't care about the integrity of such people or their programs or anything once such people promise to pay them the salaries they demanded. With this mindset of people, there very little hope that this country will change for good or better. People don't put the love their country first. There is greater probability that this country will continue to wallow in poverty more and more, if this is how the citizens, who have the power to fight for the overall good of this country are doing. I see selfishness, greediness, foolishness, blackmail, threatening, blindness, myopia and so on in this matter. Nigeria will continue to be as the minds of its citizens are.
Sadly i think you're right for most of your points. African people should not have to be the scapegoat as a lifetime of undeserved poverty by the way of failed African leadership even though this happens in the West all time. I have higher expectations for Africa/Blacks, but many also call me naive for this view as well--"a renewed extreme pan-african". Ghost of Sakara.

Is Nigeria ready to evolve beyond this world? Lets start there but always feed the poor at the very least.

Perspective | I fell for Facebook fake news. Here’s why millions of you did, too.

This crazy video is completely fake. Yet it’s been watched 14 million times on Facebook — including by me. Here’s why fake news is still a thriving business.
[img]http://www.washingtonpost.com/resizer/cJjbxZbzcC1B-4d-YF8rVd3LkNo=/720x0/arc-anglerfish-washpost-prod-washpost.s3.amazonaws.com/public/K6IFSJAVC5HFPA3AYEIJ5ULXUQ.gif[/img]

This computer-generated video, created by artist Aristomenis Tsirbas, found its way into a Facebook video viewed nearly 14 million times that falsely claimed to show a real plane landing. (MeniThings Productions)

The Facebook video is nuts, but I can’t tear my eyes away. A plane, struggling in a huge storm, does a 360-degree flip before safely landing and letting out terrified passengers.

It turns out the video is totally bunk, spliced together from a computer-generated clip and unrelated real news footage. But that didn’t stop the Facebook post from arriving in my News Feed via a friend last month. I watched it. Maybe you did, too: It has nearly 14 million views.

Everyone now knows the Web is filled with lies. So then how do fake Facebook posts, YouTube videos and tweets keep making suckers of us?

[Test your skills at spotting fakes with this "Fake or Foto" quiz from software maker Autodesk]

To find out, I conducted a forensic investigation of the fake that fooled my social network. I found the original creator of that CG plane clip. I spoke to the Facebook executive charged with curbing misinformation. And I confronted my friend who shared it.

The motives for a crazy plane report may be different from posts misdirecting American voters or fueling genocide in Myanmar. Yet some of the questions are the same: What makes fake news effective? Why did I end up seeing it? And what can we do about it?

Fake news creators “aren’t loyal to any one ideology or geography,” said Tessa Lyons, the product manager for Facebook’s News Feed tasked with reducing misinformation. “They are seizing on whatever the conversation is” — usually to make money.

[iPhone XR Review: The best $250 you ever saved on a new phone]

This year, Facebook will double the number of humans involved in fighting constantly morphing “integrity” problems on its network, to 20,000. Thanks in part to those efforts, independent fact-checkers and some new technologies, Facebook user interaction with known fake news sites has declined by 50 percent since the 2016 election, according to a study by Stanford and New York University.

But if you think you’re immune to this stuff, you’re wrong. Detecting what’s fake in images and video is only getting harder. Misinformation is part of an online economy that weaponizes social media to profit from our clicks and attention. And with the right tools to stop it still a long way off, we all need to get smarter about it.

Aristomenis Tsirbas, a Los Angeles-based director, made the computer-generated video of a plane doing a 360 that ended up being repurposed as part of a fake news report. (Aristomenis Tsirbas)
Seeing is believing

The crazy plane video first appeared Sept. 13 on a Facebook page called Time News International. Its caption reads: “A Capital Airlines Beijing-Macao flight, carrying 166 people’s, made an emergency landing in Shenzhen on 28 August 2018, after aborting a landing attempt in Macao due to mechanical failure, the airline said.”

No real commercial plane did a 360 roll so close to the ground, but an emergency landing really did happen that August day in Macau.

Four days later, in Los Angeles, film director Aristomenis Tsirbas started getting messages from his friends. A year earlier, the computer graphics whiz had created and posted to YouTube a video he’d made showing a plane doing a 360. Someone had taken his work and used it at the beginning of a fake news report.

“I realized, oh, my God, I’m part of the problem,” Tsirbas told me. The artist, who has worked on “Titanic” and “Star Trek,” has a hobby in creating realistic but implausible videos, often involving aliens. He posts them on YouTube, he said, in part to demonstrate CG and in part to make a little money from YouTube ads.

[I can’t believe this is why people are tweeting fake celebrity news]

The photorealism of Tsirbas’s clip played a big role in making the fake story go viral. And that makes it typical: Misinformation featuring manipulated photos and videos is among the most likely to go viral, Facebook’s Lyons said. Sometimes, like in this case, it employs shots from real news reports to make it seem just credible enough. “The really crazy things tend to get less distribution than the things that hit the sweet spot where they could be believable,” Lyons said.

Even after decades of Photoshop and CG films, most of us are still not very good about challenging the authenticity of images — or telling the real from the fake. That includes me: In an online test made by software maker Autodesk called Fake or Foto, I correctly identified the authenticity of just 22 percent of their images. (You can test yourself here.)

Another lesson: Fake news often changes the context of photos and videos in ways their creators might never imagine. Tsirbas sees his work as pranks or satire, but he hasn’t explicitly labeled them that way. “They are clearly fakes,” he said. After we spoke, he wrote to say he’d now add a disclaimer to his CG videos: “This is a narrative work.”

Satire, in particular, can lose important context unless it’s baked into an image itself. Another doctored fake news image, first posted to Twitter in 2017, appears to show President Trump touring a flooded area of Houston, handing a red hat to a victim. Artist Jessica Savage Broer, a Trump critic, told me she Photoshopped it to make a point about how people need to “use critical thinking skills.” But then earlier this year, supporters of the president started sharing it on Facebook — by the hundreds of thousands — as evidence of the president’s humanitarian work.

Artist Jessica Savage Broer photoshopped this image to include President Donald Trump. She said she wanted to make the point that people need to “use critical thinking skills.” (Jessica Savage Broer)
The outrage algorithm

Why would someone turn Tsirbas’s airplane video into a fake news report?

There’s no clear answer, but there are clues. Time News International, the page that published it, did not respond to requests I sent via Facebook, an email address or a U.K. phone number listed on its page.

Facebook’s Lyons said pages posting misinformation most often have an economic motive. They post links to articles on sites with just-believable-enough names that are filled with advertisements or spyware, which might attempt to invade our online privacy.

Lyons’s team shared with me a half-dozen samples of fake news. But the links to money aren’t always immediately clear. The Time News International page doesn’t regularly link to outside articles, though it posts a lot of outrageous photos and videos about topics in the news. That has attracted it a following of 225,000 people on Facebook — a base it could direct to content it might capitalize on in the future.

[Facebook unveils the Portal, a video chat camera for the people who still trust Facebook]

Facebook and other social media companies deserve some of the blame. It’s easy to grow an audience for outlandish stories when publishing doesn’t require vetting, and algorithms are tuned to share the stuff that garners the greatest outrage. I saw that crazy video because Facebook decided I should.

Fake news producers also use our friends to add to their credibility. When I saw the plane video, my suspicions weren’t on high alert because it came from my friend, who I trust as a smart guy. He told me he realized later the video was a fake but thought comments on his post would alert his friends. “It’s just funny thinking about the steps by which we get duped,” he said.

Facebook added a warning label to the video of a spinning plane after fact checkers called it false. (Geoffrey Fowler/San Francisco)
Stop spreading the news

Facebook’s response to the plane video shows how far it’s come in the fight with fake news — and how far we have to go.

On Sept. 17, a few days after it was posted, the video was detected by Facebook’s machine-learning systems, programs that try to automatically detect fake news. The company won’t disclose exactly how those work, but it said the signals include what sorts of comments people leave on posts.

Once detected, Facebook passed the video to its network of independent fact-checkers. After Snopes labeled it as “false,” Facebook made it show up less often in News Feeds.

Why does the fake plane video remain up at a time when Facebook is making headlines for taking down other posts? Facebook said deletion is for violations of its community standards, such as pornography. “My job is to prevent misleading and false information from going viral,” Lyons said. “Even if something is false, we don’t prevent people from sharing it. We give them context.”

That comes in the form of a label. Now when the video appears in a News Feed or someone attempts to share it, up pops “Additional Reporting On This,” with a link to reports from fact-checking organizations. Facebook said it also notified people who had already shared it, though my friend doesn’t recall seeing a warning.

“I wouldn’t consider this a success from our side,” Lyons said. Typically, posts that Facebook demotes have an 80 percent reduction in the total number of views, so it’s possible without Facebook’s action, the post could have been seen by hundreds of millions. (Later, Facebook’s automated systems also detected duplicates of the video being uploaded by other pages.)

It’s also an issue of new media literacy. Facebook and others have produced fliers such as “Tips for spotting false news,” but it’s hard to change a response that is both human and pretty fundamental to the social media experience. There have always been hoaxes, but perhaps we need time to internalize just how easy they’ve become to create.

Lyons is already tracking the next generation of CG images dubbed “deep fakes” that don’t even require the expertise of a creator like Tsirbas. Instead, they use artificial intelligence to splice together bits from lots of existing videos to create, for example, a fake speech by a president.

Maybe we’ll eventually learn to be less trusting of our friends — at least the online ones. The people we count on for important information in the real world aren’t always the people who fill our social media feeds.

Or if you want to avoid being that friend: Before you spread the latest outrage online, stop and consider the source.

Nigeria's leadership is too far behind and codependent on the world to, at the very least, willingly step down knowing they have failed for a long time, holding the populace captive to poverty to say the least.

This minimum wage saga is just
Doing the right thing the wrong way

If the government increase minimum wage to 30k, with the economy of Nigeria now ehn, inflation will just swallow everything and the 30k will not even have any value, rather smaller denomination of the currency will go into extinction just like #5 naira note which doesn't have any purchasing power

The main point is for government to reduce price of commodities and rent and school fees shikina cry

i agree, but Nigeria needs to increase its value on a global level when all of Africa failed to do so. I'd rather start Mentions of this matter on Africans/Black's inferior complex. those who have the ability for real change in Leadership but ALWAYS fail. Unlike Ghana, who carries its manhood.

Poor people who need this money is only a result of ongoing leadership failure in Africa, but the poor deserve a chance and the money. They will deliver.
