Politics‘Buhari Won’t Allow APC Lose Power In 2023,’ Says Wike by abc115(op): 9:26pm On Jun 29, 2020
Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has said that he was not contemplating running for office of the president of Nigeria in 2023.

The governor, who spoke on ARISE TV on Sunday, said the issue of who replaces President Muhammadu Buhari can only be a problem in APC, being the ruling party.

“In PDP, who are you taking over from? You are taking over from nothing.

“You don’t even know the minds of Nigerians. The point is that being a ruling party and with Mr. President being there, he won’t allow his party to lose out,” Wike said.

The Rivers governor also ascribed the crisis in APC to the struggle for 2023 presidential ticket by politicians in the party, describing it as a distraction that has inhibited the ability of those currently in power among them to deliver ‘the dividends of democracy to the people.’

According to Wike, “Everybody thinks of taking over from the President. So instead of you to concentrate, you are thinking of taking over.

“So, how can I begin to contemplate running for Presidency when I know I still have time to provide for my state. It is a distraction.”

The governor also said that he believes that any talk about 2023 is too early. He said, “We just returned to power over a year ago. And then you are talking about Presidency.”

Recalling that this was not the first time his name would be mentioned in relation to the contest for Nigeria’s presidency, Wike said in the build-up to the 2019 general election, there were also rumours that he wanted to be running mate to the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.

“In 2018 to 2019 when I was supporting my friend, it was speculated I was going to run with Tambuwal. By that time, I had not even finished my first term and you are telling me to give away my second tenure to run for what I am not sure of,” governor Wike said.

He also added that his priority for now is to focus on developing his state, adding that 2023 is not in his agenda.

“When you take a position on certain issues, people will continue to speculate. I am not going to run for the President of Nigeria for now,” Wike clarified.

Let's face it, Oshiomole might have problems with his temperament, unyielding stubbornness and occasionally autocratic behavior, but as far as achievements go, he's miles ahead of Obaseki.

Anyone who witnessed the rot of the Igbinedion years will readily testify to that Oshio turned the state around.

TBH I really can not point to any tangible achievement of Obaseki in his four years in office.

A better question would be why does Obaseki have so many supporters??
Truth is, he has impacted people directly. The Edo economy is what has been impacted the most as the the cities and communities are experiencing a boom of some sort.
Help the Edo electorates, who are still confused on who to vote for by outlining his achievements one by one.

Any Obaseki or PDP Supporter will do well for his re-election by outlining/ post pictures of his Achievements as Governor in his first term. This will be good for his campaign to the great enlighten people of Edo State.

Everyone knew Giadom was a temporary chairman. As at yesterday, the Ajimobi camp whom you supported made a press conference saying Giadom calling for NEC meeting is illegal but then what happened?

He called the meeting and Buhari and Osinbajo attended.

Where is the Ajimobi led NWC? .....disbanded.

PoliticsSagay To Buhari: Don’t Attend Giadom-Led NEC Meeting by abc115(op): 1:42am On Jun 25, 2020
The legal advice the President got is mischievous’

NWC snubs parley, says President ill-advised

10 governors, many state chairmen ‘won’t attend’

An eminent professor of law Itse Sagay (SAN) on Wednesday urged President Buhari not to participate in today’s All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting called by Victor Giadom.

He said Giadom had no right to summon the meeting because a deputy national secretary is not in line to succeed the national chairman.

Besides, Sagay, who chairs the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), said the ex-parte order Giadom is relying on to claim acting chairmanship had since lapsed.

He said: “I’m stunned by this turn of events. How can a deputy national secretary have the ambition to be the chairman of a party when you have deputy chairmen and vice-chairmen?

“That is why it is absurd. It does not make sense. His position makes it impossible for him to be the acting national chairman.

“Second, he is relying on an ex-parte order in which he alone was present and the court gave him an interim order in March. These orders last for 14 days.

“He turns up in June to say it has been extended – something that is dead, that does not exist and has lapsed. That is the second absurdity. If he had applied for a fresh order, that would have been different.

“When I heard of the developments, I was stunned into silence. I’m so stunned as to how such a person could be given legitimacy at the highest level.

“The legal advice the President got is mischievous in the extreme because there is no court order to extend since it does not exist. It died two weeks after it was made. The line of succession of the chairman cannot come from the Secretary.

“So the whole thing is an absurdity. I always hear of the theatre of the absurd, but this is one of the worst I’ve ever heard of.”

Asked if he would advise the President to reconsider his position, Sagay said: “That’s my view. And as someone pointed out, seven days’ notice is needed for such a meeting. Only three days have been given.

“So I would advise the President to step back from this matter and not participate in it.”

For Seyi Sowemimo (SAN), it was essentially a political matter and the President had taken a decision in furtherance of what he felt was in his best interests.

“A president in opting to recognise somebody is also acting in his own best interest. It’s not strictly a legal matter; it’s all politics.

“If you go to a third court, don’t be surprised that another conflicting decision may be given,” Sowemimo said.

He blamed the courts for the conflicting decisions and confusion.

“We have been complaining about these judges: it’s only for elections and petitions that we come with contrary injunctions flying here and there.”

Sowemimo noted that some judicial decisions seem to be giving the impression that the courts are abandoning their former stance of non-involvement in party affairs.

He said: “The decision of the courts in previous years was not to get involved in the internal affairs of political parties, but I am beginning to think that there is more to the involvement of the judges than meets the eye, because there’s that feeling that the judges themselves seem to be interested. Otherwise…they shouldn’t be speaking with different voices.

“In recent years, our courts have not been as reliable as they should, in terms of giving clear cut decisions on issues of law.

“Look at the case involving the governorship in Imo and Bayelsa states; people were disappointed at the outcome.

“So, it’s politics and personal interest amongst politicians and they have only just managed to drag the judiciary into the fray.”

PoliticsFayemi’s Failed Mission To Villa With Giadom by abc115(op): 2:19pm On Jun 24, 2020
Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi on Tuesday took former Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Victor Giadom to Aso Rock Villa in a failed attempt to see President Muhammadu Buhari.

The visit, The Nation learnt, was to win Buhari over to Giadom, who has been laying claim to being acting national chairman of the party.

It was also gathered Fayemi wanted Giadom to see Buhari to get endorsement for the emergency National Executive Council (NEC) he summoned.

But the duo couldn’t see Buhari despite spirited attempts.

They only met his Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, who insisted Buhari had closed for work.

Fayemi, who is chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, is one of the anti-Oshiomhole’s forces in the ruling party.

If only these ignorant people know that the amount of development and emoluments plus money they will make from the selling of lands to investors that will besiege that area will outweigh any benefits they can ever think of.

Plenty bus parks will move there the new area, cause Onitsha is congested. If u are coming from the west trying to access other states, once u pass the Niger bridge into Onitsha u must meet traffic jam.

At least now people going to the east that have no business with Onitsha market will pass through Anambra smoothly.
