Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has described Late Elder Austin Nwakoh as a politician of truth who was committed to development of the state.
Speaking during the funeral service of Elder Nwakoh at Kpean Town, Khana Local Government Area on Friday, Governor Wike said the late politician played politics that promoted confidence.
He said: "This is a painful passage. It is an untimely death. Elder Austin Nwakoh was a politician of a different class. He was a politician of truth. He was a politician of confidence ". Governor Wike announced the appointment of the Widow of the Late Politician as a Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor. He said the appointment was made to maintain a link with the family.
He also announced that he will foot the cost of the Education of the son of the late politician.

Governor Wike said: "You were not just a close confidant. You were a wonderful person, handsome inside and out. Gentle in disposition, and incredibly energetic with uncommon ability to brighten up any home that you work into your ever happy go-lucky personality. "You were always thoughtful, trustworthy and truthful. You never judged , but advised freely and candidly, assisted readily and advanced our common political aspirations with courage and hope". Also speaking, Senator Lee Maeba said that Elder Austin Nwakoh was a politician of peace. He said his politics built friendship and love.

He said that the friendly politics of the late politician has been proven by the convergence of politicians from different political parties.
Senator Magnus Abe said that the life of Late Austin Nwakoh spoke volumes about what love and friendship should be .

In a sermon, General Secretary, Assemblies of God Church, Rev Godwin Akpan Amaowo urged people to surrender to God, saying that there is no profit in not serving God.

The condition of the road has deteriorated to the extent of one jumping like a spiderman before crossing the area.

However, some have argued that it is the duty of the market women and people living in the neighborhood to clean and fix the bad spots (Check comments below), but some said it is the basic duties of the state Government.

President Muhammadu Buhari says the closure of Nigerian land borders for a limited period due to massive smuggling is already yielding positive results for the economy.

The President stated this when he received a delegation from the Nigerian Association for Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture at the State House, Abuja, on Friday.

The delegation also comprised of the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry and representatives of the Organised Private Sector.

"This validates our action as a Government when we insist that the African Continental Free Trade Agreement must not only promote free trade, but legal trade of quality made-in-Africa goods and services,” he said.

Buhari says everyone must play by the rule when it comes to trade and business activities that are central to Nigeria’s economic development.

He added that his administration would ensure that the trade and business sector continues to flourish in job creation.
