No fewer than 10 gunmen stormed three courts in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Wednesday, when they held a sitting judge hostage. The gunmen, who shot into the air, caused panic in the capital city as residents fled in various directions, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. The courts the gunmen invaded included Benue State High Court 9, Chief Magistrate’s Court and the Upper Area Court. An eyewitness told our correspondent that the gunmen stormed the premises of the three courts which were about 500 meters away from state police headquarters around 8am. It was gathered at the Benue State High Court 9 that the Presiding Judge, Justice Mary Abounu, who is the wife of deputy governor, was already seated when the gunmen stormed her court and held her and the people in her court hostage. “Actually, the first court the hoodlums visited was the Magistrate’s Court 1. They broke into the courtroom and the chambers, where they carted away one computer, a printer, a generator as well as files for various cases,” said Mr. Isaac Ajim, a magistrate. Ajim said, “After the criminals were done with my court, they proceeded to High Court 9, presided over by the wife of the deputy governor, Justice Mary Abounu, and carted away a refrigerator, three stabilisers, a set of computer, window blinds and left behind empty bottles of drinks.” At the Upper Area Court, the registrar, Mrs. Sarah Gboji, described the invaders as robbers, saying, “The thieves made away with N280,000.” It was also gathered that the criminals after they had wreaked havoc, locked the courtrooms with the padlocks they brought with them. Confirming the invasion, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Michael Gusa, who condemned the act, appealed to youths to always engage in meaningful ventures rather than indulge into criminality. Gusa also urged Benue State youths to embrace the amnesty programme of the state governor instead of engaging in criminal activities. He, however, assured that the perpetrators of the act would be fished out and punished appropriately. Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, said three security guards had already been invited for interrogation. He assured that the culprits would be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law. Source: http://www.2000viewsng.com/2016/11/judge-and-lawyer-held-hostage-by-gun.html cc lalastica

It’s now one of the normal things in Nigeria to see young people as Many Nigerians have taken solace in sport betting especially on the streets. You see queues here and there struggling their way to place their bets on the five major leagues in world football. The English premier league, Spanish Primera la Liga, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga and the French league. Virtual betting is also not excluded as many slangs like ' Ajansare' 'gbera' 'Aja 1' etc have been coined from this. The question then is 'why do many Nigerian youths engage in Sports betting?' Here are our top 5 reasons, enjoy and make contribution. 1. Unemployment: The high rate of unemployment in Nigeria has been responsible for the wild spread of sport betting in Nigeria, with so many youths pouring their money into it to get returns on investment. It is a two-way thing; others may have lost out but a million lots of them are cashing in. 2. Influence: Sports betting unlike"Baba Ijebu" a popular lotto is pervasive such that it is viewed in Nigerian society as ‘normal thing and since no particular moral value seems to be against it, ‘almost every body around you is involved it and so you look odd if you are not betting. 3. Love of Sports: The love of sports by many Nigerian youths is also the reasons behind sport betting. Nigerians are sport lovers. 4. More engagement in sports: Besides the money a lot of people make from sport betting, it has also polished their engagement in sports, in that they keep close tabs on games that they have stakes on. 6. It is a Pot of Gold: Access to fast, risk free cash is one of the reasons many people engage in sports betting. It is stress free, and direct access to cash. Greed also comes into play. It could be tagged as a ‘business’ that you invest with as little as N100 to win as much as 1 Million Naira provided the predictions are correct. Who wouldn’t be enticed with such bait? Do you think there other reasons we didn't talk about in this post? Kindly identify them.\ Source: http://www.2000viewsng.com/2016/11/top-5-reasons-why-nigerian-youths-will.html cc lalastica

This joke about why girls in Uganda – an African country hardly wear panties have gone viral on social media. The very funny report reads thus: Even after passing the Anti-P*rnography Law in Uganda, you still see Ugandan girls dressing skimpily. As I always say, Ugandan girls are randy by nature. If you’re into clubs, you have probably seen how majority of girls dress. They leave very little for imagination and in most cases they are not wearing any panties. Which begs the question, why don’t Ugandan girls wear panties? (1) Fresh air It sounds like a an absurd reason but Ugandan girls don’t wear any panties so that fresh can circulate in the groin region. With panties, there is a lot of sweating especially with the impossible Kampala weather. Girls who wear dresses are ones who give out this reason and it is not easy to see why. (2) They have a few pairs One can argue that this could be the main reason why Ugandan girls don’t wear panties. The average Ugandan chick has 6 pairs of panties at most. If they keep changing daily and putting wear and tear into consideration, many opt to go without panties. These are the same ladies who boldly clam they want a guy who drives a Lamborghini yet they own only three pairs of bra. Sore throats, alluded to by medicinal experts as "intense pharyngitis," can be brought on by various diverse infections and microbes. Around 70% of sore throats are brought on by infections, for example, frosty infections and other upper respiratory tract infections that taint the tissues around the throat. Sore throat is described by pain, distress, or scratchiness in the throat, frequently connected with pain while swallowing. Causes of Sore Throat Sore throats are usually caused by inflammation or infection of the pharynx (pharyngitis) or tonsils (tonsillitis), but may also include other areas surrounding the throat, such as the larynx (laryngitis). Most sore throats have infectious disease origins, but some can result from breathing in dry, cold air through the mouth (for example, during the winter) or from having a foreign object stuck in the throat (for example, a fish or chicken bone). Most sore throats are caused by viruses. Many occur at the beginning of a cold, when runny noses drain down the back of the throat and irritate it. Sore throats can also be caused by actual infection of the throat, such as strep throat, which is caused by bacteria (Streptococcus). Basic Home treatments for Sore Throat The good news is that most sore throats do not last long. However, a few home remedies may be useful for providing relief: Drink warm liquids, such as honey or pap Gargle with warm salt water (half teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of water) Drink cold liquids or suck on Popsicle (for some sore throats) Suck on hard candies rich in Vitamin C Use a cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier Take over-the-counter pain medicine, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) Note: Since most sore throats are caused by viruses, they cannot be treated with antibiotics (which are specific for bacterial infections). In fact, antibiotics are not recommended unless the infection is definitively diagnosed as a bacterial infection, usually through a positive strep test or bacterial culture of the throat SOURCE : http://www.2000viewsng.com/2016/10/everything-you-need-to-know-about-sore.html

So 2016 is wrapping up and you still didn't do those things this year. The good news is you have got about 69 more days to the end of this year and below are ten things you can still get on to, achieve, and accomplish before the end of the year. Remember when there is life there is hope in everything. Enjoy... 1. Lose weight: You sure can hit the gym, loose that pound of flesh, build up those muscles and get that dream body before the end of the year. Draw out your plan, eat healthy (remember you are what you eat). Eating late at night could accumulate fat for you most especially in the belly, also listen to your stomach; it definitely tells you when you have had enough, exercise at least three times in a week. If you cannot afford the gym, get a jump rope, do about 600 jumps in a day. That is one hour of exercise. Also do not take a step forward and two steps backwards. It's important to plan. 2. Find that special person: Love they say is a beautiful thing. Love doesn't hurt; people who don't know how to love are the ones who hurt a person. Do not hate the world. Socialise, smile, dress confidently, believe in yourself, be polite, be kind without expecting anything in return. Before the days of this year are over, you sure can still find that special somebody. CONTINUE FROM SOURCE : http://www.2000viewsng.com/2016/10/10-things-you-can-still-do-before-this.html |

There was pandemonium in Abesan Federal Housing Estate, Ipaja in the Alimosho axis of Lagos yesterday, Tuesday, October 25, 2016, after suspected cultists wreaked havoc in the area. During the attack, a man identified simply as Bebo, was butchered in cold blood leading to his death on the spot. Presently, shops in the area are currently locked for fear of a reprisal attack in the community. InsideMainland gathered from a source that residents were thrown into confusion when the cultists stormed the area on motorcycles. The gang we learnt had been on the trail of Bebo before he was cornered at the spot where he was murdered. The source who craved anonymity disclosed that “he is popularly known as Bebo in the area. He visited a pharmacy to get drugs before he was hit unaware. The guys who attacked him outnumbered him and he couldn’t escape the scene.” InsideMainland gathered that Bebo was formerly a student of the University of Lagos before he dropped out. Our source revealed that “He is feared in the area because he is a member of the Eiye Confraternity. He was the second in command while at Unilag and also held the same position in Abesan before he was killed yesterday night.” Photo of a much younger Bebo Another resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said that “he was killed at Greenland Bus stop after stepping out of the drug store. The cultists blocked him while he tried to run and immediately took turns in inflicting cuts on him before he died.” When asked if security operatives have visited the scene, the source told InsideMainland that “Police officers were around yesterday after the incident but no arrests were made. Presently, the area is deserted and there is no security presence.” SOURCE: http://www.2000viewsng.com/2016/10/graphic-photos-eiye-cult-leader-killed.html

Recently, Jay Z, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus showed their support for Clinton, but now she's got Adele's vote as well, even if, you know, Adele can't really vote. According to EW, at a concert in Miami on Tuesday night, Adele took a moment to speak about the presidential election and told the audience, “Don’t vote for him,” referring to Donald Trump. Clinton happened to be in attendance, and was celebrating her 69th birthday. “I am English, but what happens in America affects me too,” Adele said. “I am 100 percent for Hillary Clinton. I love her, she’s amazing.” When you get endless compliments from Adele in front of a huge audience, it is clear that you are celebrating your birthday right.
