I wish we could trade places. No pun intended. Like Seriously? You would look down on a woman who shows you her emotional attachment to you? My guy, If you don't like her, just tell her politely. #utchay# |
Enough said. #africanrapper |
When I become a Husband and Father, I will use the 'stick' approach ONLY when it becomes absolutely necessary. My whole body is full of scars of strokes my father gave me (using a stretched Iron cloth hanger) several years ago. Even till today, I can never wear only singlets - even when I'm with my male friends. If I do, you'll start hearing questions like: "Uche, what's reason for these scars?" , "Uche, were you a cultist in School"?. I can't stand the sight of seeing such scars on my beloved children - let alone remembering that I gave them those marks. God forbid. When I must discipline my children, I will use the Isolation method or the Carrot method (as described by someone here). #africanrapper |
Demdem: I think for this feat, all IDs that have been banned till 2050 should be given general amnesty Are they Militants? hahahahaafricanrapper |
Manchester United will win this match. Although, WH dey form Giant killers whenever they meet ManUtd. #africanrapper |
You guys should not be complaining at all. My Parents gave me one outdated, Bible name - MOSES. Although my native name (Uche) is not what many people know me by, I think I prefer it. Although many people know me by MOSES, I prefer Uche. |
Ain't had one yet. Turning 30 by February. |
1supremo: Dear Moderators,Oga, (jiri nwayo o) take am easy o. All this grammar just to say that 'FrontPage is getting boring these days'? very soon, you go become Patrick Obahiagbon for Nairaland. #utchay# |
Set up a date with this chic. When we got there, I didn't know how to even start a conversation with her. I just stared at her in the face. Finally, I just popped that famous line: "Titi, I love you." ![]() She responded: "You love someone you don't know?" I said some other gibberish......and that was it. She got bored. Next week, she sent an email - She was done. Anyway, I have another date tonight, and probably another tomorrow morning with another gorgeous, drop-dead gorgeous lady. Hope I don't wreck this one too..lol... ![]() #utchay# |
very nice points. Every single person ought to take these points seriously. #utchay# |
Richfella: Hey bro, am very glad you liked it. There are a billion more life-transforming, reality-shattering resources I could send you if you wanted. I'd be most honoured.Brother, that guy Jesse Charger is an awesome guy. Do you know I never knew 'Tutorials' ever existed? I also checked out some of the other links on his site - and they are awesome. Since Saturday, I've just been browsing any page on that website and it's already changing the way I see things now - especially my Romance Life. Thank you a Million times for this. Uche |
jidegirl12: And how'd you turn out if I may ask?It has not been an easy ride trying to unlearn the things I was forced to learn. Turning 30 soon. In fact, this is my biggest challenge today, but I hope to come out strong someday. #utchay# |
Honestly, I wish I enjoyed these things from my Parents. Rather, I was forced to reason and behave in a certain way (certainly against my will). Anyway, my solemn promise to myself is that my kids will get all the attention and support that they deserve from me. #utchay# |
obowunmi: Africanrapper I LOVE your story. Its amazing. I will work on a documentary soon - we will only need your voice or story, but it will be pretty anoymous. I hope to work with you and Siena....no wahala. whenever you're set. utchay83@yahoo.com Uche |
Richfella: Hey Bro, good to see how you're doing. I strongly recommend you read this (and many others on the site): How School Screwed You With Anxiety...And Getting Your Confidence Back.Brother, thank you for that link. Jesus! Where did you get that? That's exactly what I need. Thanks again. #utchay# |
Parental Upbringing has a BIG influence on Self-confidence. I'll narrate a personal story to buttress this fact. I used to be a very bright child - from Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary Education. Teachers, Colleagues and friends all attested to the fact that I was a bright (sound mind) person. But as I grew up certain things that happened in my Life altered my self-confidence. I was raised in a very 'SPIRITUAL' home (you should understand what I mean by that). Popsi and Momsi were more concerned about Spirituality than the well-being of their kids. Popsi usually spanked me seriously for reasons such as playing football with my agemates, sharing jokes with my peers, etc. Once we are back home from school, neither me nor my siblings were permitted to leave the House - even to see a friend. And my friends noticed this, because they were not permitted to even come visit me at home. My father would always literally chase them away, so that his children would not get corrupted. Today, those boys who he chased away are Medical Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers etc - doing well in their different endeavors. Point is: They were just nice people. So, at a time, I even became afraid of my friends. I always thought that my father was somewhere around monitoring me to know what I do. He always wanted me to be 'LIKE HIM'. When I was 13, my family got split (DIVORCE). As I turned 17, I took sides with my mother and went to be with her. My Father literally HATES ME TILL TODAY because of that decision. My father would always say that I'm a good-for-nothing boy, a stupid boy, bla bla bla. At a time, he started comparing me with some people I even thought I was better than - and mehn, that comparison was killing. Geez! As I grew up in Life (maybe 20-25), I observed that I had lost my Self-Confidence. I wasn't doing well in School - not because I was a dullard academically, but throughout these years, my father had made me think I was good-for-nothing. To make speeches in public became a problem for me - cos I always thought I was going to say something stupid. Even when I find myself among girls, I'd be EXTREMELY SHY to get close. Meanwhile, my friends did these things (Public speeches, getting the girls, etc) with so much ease that I once wondered whether I was 'NORMAL'. Anyway, I've managed to finished school, started a business. And I've decided to get back on all the opportunities that I lost while growing up: a)MY SOCIAL LIFE b)MY LOVE LIFE c)MY ACADEMIC I will overcome these fears by God's Grace. I will ensure that nobody (I mean NOBODY) makes my children feel inferior about themselves. #utchay# |
Funny enough, there's 2 other chics that are disturbing me. They look more attractive, sexually alluring et al. I compared them to this one and found that I prefer this one. She come dey prove stubborn. Maybe, I just might move my attention to these other ones. Chinyere can take her 'Friendship' to someone else. Let's see how it plays out. #utchay# |
Having a similar challenge too. She's smashing hot. Her office is the next office from mine. Initially, she showed signs of wanting me to ‘toast’ her. Just this week, I did. To my utter shock, she’s now singing a different tune: “Uche, I want to be alone. I don’t want a boyfriend”. We should just be friends…blab la bla. Now, I’m like WTF? Why did you show all those signs of wanting me to do toast you? Why the mixed signals? Meanwhile, I’m dying to date this chic, ‘cos I think she has bright prospects. What do i do? |
thegoodjoehunt:I know when Lucky got married last year. I think he invited us (his former coursemates), but I couldn't go. If your story is true, then I'm really surprised and ashamed of him. He could easily have told them to stop beating the boys (especially when he knew they were going to kill them). If your story is true, then Lucky is indeed callous and wicked. Or, was he intending NOT to pay back the money? I can't believe that this guy did this. How I wish those boys can come back to Life o. Chei, they died a terrible death. |
I can't believe what I'm seeing here. Someone posted a link to the so-called Lucky that was said to be the mastermind of the Aluu4 killing. I opened it and I'm shocked to find out that this guy was my course mate at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. We studied Computer Science (Part-Time 2002 - 2008 set). He told me he lived in Aluu, but I didn't know he was the guy in question o. (What a funny place this world is). Are we sure he is really the main person? or is it just another person with the same name? When did Lucky become Pastor? Na wa o. Let me start contacting our course-mates to see if I can have a clue to where he is. |
@virtuoso, I think we share the same thoughts. #africanrapper |
OK Friends, I had an interesting argument with a friend (last night). The point of argument was between POWER and TELECOMMUNICATIONS, which one is more important in an individual's life (especially here in Nigeria). While I acknowledged that Telecoms have improved our lives, I also argued that if I had to choose between OPTIMAL POWER and OPTIMAL TELECOMMUNICATION service in Nigeria, I would choose POWER (ELECTRICITY). With Power, I think I can do a lot of things easier and faster - such as Cooking, Ironing, my Business needs steady power, etc. I also argued that many business owners could employ more people, but the money they would use to pay salaries are already being gulped by Fuel for Generators. ******** On the other hand, my friend argues that TELECOMS is more important in our lives, because he can call his mom in the villa at any time - he doesn't need Power to do that. If there's an emergency anywhere, people can reach him through phone. Also, most of his contacts are people he got through his phone, etc. He also argues that he can improvise for his Energy needs (e.g. Generators, Photo-voltaic cells, etc), but does not see any other means of communication. So, I ask: 1. Between POWER & TELECOMMUNICATIONS, which do you think is MORE IMPORTANT IN YOUR LIFE. 2. Assuming Government says you CANNOT HAVE BOTH, which one would you rather choose: POWER (ELECTRICITY) or TELECOMMUNICATIONS (phone, iPad, etc) I want to learn from other people here. #africanrapper |
October 2011, I saw a post by one Nairaland user called BEAF, where he talked about the YouWIN programme and he even added a useful URL link. I registered the same day and was later called for a Training programme in Benin. Mehn, the training no be small thing. Na heavy marathon training. After the training, they requested we submit a more detailed Business plan. I did this. On May 17, 2012, we were invited to attend another Validation Exercise at FMF, Abuja (that was my first time to travel to ABJ & I don't even know anybody who works for the FG - (No Senator, No House-of-Assembly-Member, Nobody). About 2 months later, I received a notification from youWIN that I won 10Million Naira. I think say na joke. Last week Tusday, I got a text message on my phone from AccessBank that FG had credited my bank account with 1 Million Naira as the First Tranche of the total sum of 10 Million Naira. Anyway, I'm into IT. My Business is designed to provide Cloud Computing and Internet Services to a niche of customers that I have identified in Port Harcourt. Even if the YouWIN grant had not come, I would still have made it big in my business, but I guess it would have taken a longer time. But with this 10 Million Naira Grant, I see my company becoming a major player in Africa's IT industry within 5 years. Thanks to GEJ and NOI for this YouWIN programme. Mr. Beaf, abeg take one Beer for my head. (no insult intended) |
This has to be the joke of the Millenium. ![]() |
ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — A $4.5 billion deal to build six refineries in Nigeria is set to make Africa's top oil producer less reliant on exports for oil products, authorities say. Yemi Kolajo, a spokeswoman for Nigeria's trade ministry, said in a statement late Monday that U.S.-based Vulcan Petroleum Resources Ltd. and Nigerian-based Petroleum Refining and Strategic Reserve Ltd. signed the memorandum of understanding with the government in the capital, Abuja. Two of the six refineries are to be built within the next year, Kolajo said. Nigeria, despite producing about 2.4 million barrels of oil a day, has decrepit refineries unable to meet the nation's growing demand for gasoline due to years of mismanagement and sabotage. The six new refineries will refine a total of 180,000 of barrels of oil per day in a bid to address that need, the statement said. Edozie Njoku, chairman of the Nigerian partner, said Tuesday that all the funding for the project would come from outside the country. He said they opted for modular refineries because there are many local challenges to building a refinery from scratch. Each refinery will be built in the U.S., disassembled for shipping and reassembled in Nigeria, he said. "Our job as the local partner is to make sure that the government does all we asked of them," Njoku said, "that they approve all the permits, etc." He said the U.S. partner company was a venture capitalist that would be bringing investors as well as technical know-how. The company could not immediately be reached for comment. The government has shown a lot of will to make this happen, Njoku said. "They really want to start refineries in this country, they are committed to it." The deal comes six months after the Nigerian government tried to end a cherished fuel subsidy program that had kept Nigeria's largely imported fuel cheap for more than two decades. President Goodluck Jonathan said the country could no longer afford it. The move meant that prices at the pump jumped from 45 cents per liter ($1.70 per gallon) to at least 94 cents per liter ($3.50 per gallon) on Jan. 1. Jonathan later announced a new, partially subsidized price of 60 cents a liter ($2.27 a gallon) to stop a six-day national strike. Nigerians consider cheap fuel one of the only benefits they reap from living in an oil-rich but impoverished nation. The subsidies, in theory, keep prices artificially low for Nigerian consumers. Because of the country's reliance on exports, fuel actually comes into the country at global prices. Functioning refineries will reduce the bill of the subsidy which Nigeria's finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, recently put at $8 billion for 2011. But, this bill also includes the heavy price of corruption, authorities say. Top officials, including Okonjo-Iweala and Nigeria's respected Central Bank Governor Lamido Sanusi, have said corruption inflates the cost of the subsidy program. A recent probe by lawmakers said billions of dollars have been wasted in the program. The head of that probe, House of Representatives member Farouk Lawan, is now being accused of accepting a $620,000 bribe from an oil company that had been under investigation during the probe. Lawan has denied any wrongdoing.
