Politics / Teachers Are Indispensable To Nation Building - Prof. Eleka by AishaYesufu: 4:43pm On Oct 05, 2021
Teachers are indispensable to Nation Building - Prof. Eleka

Former Deputy Governor of Ekiti and the PDP candidate in the 2018 governorship election, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, has advocated more incentives for Nigerian Teachers, adding that for Nigeria to match up with her contemporaries in the community of nations, teachers must be adequately encouraged beyond what is obtainable in our educational system.

In a statement signed by Prof. Eleka, on Tuesday, to felicitate with teachers across the world, through his media Aide, Adebisi Adeola, he said teachers deserve more attention and commendations from both the governmental organizations and Non-governmental organizations in Nigeria, giving their unrelenting effort to reshape the future of the country through their contributions to knowledge in nation building.

Eleka, who said teachers were cornerstone of humanity and builders of foundation for all learning, added that government from different levels should expedite actions in grants and other benefits that could motivate them to be effective in their responsibilities.

According to Him: “As a teacher who understands the yearnings and aspirations of his colleagues, I place premium value on teachers. Hence, I want to appreciate all teachers in the world for standing tall in the face of little attention at our various homes, primary schools, secondary schools, vocational trainings centers and tertiary institutions.

“I celebrate with you all, on this special day set aside for you. As you all can recall, during my tenure as Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, together we achieved great feats for our dear state, Ekiti.

"Even, as we look forward to governing the state in 2022, by God's Grace, I want to let you know that you are an integral part of my agenda. Your welfare, growth, rights, development and satisfaction are part of our education SHIELD agenda, in innovatively transforming education for the prosperity of our dear state.

“Together, we will restore the lost glory of education and empower the sector in our dear Ekiti state."

Politics / Ekiti 2022: Repositioning Group Drops Ajijola In Committee's Report by AishaYesufu: 11:06am On Oct 03, 2021
A faction within the Ekiti state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, Repositioning Group, has clarified that it is yet to elect consensus candidate for the governorship election in the state.

This was made known through a statement by Engineer Alabama Agboola, the group's chairman.

The statement reads;

It is now a common place news that the Repositioning Group recently held an in- House election purposefully to democratically pick a Gubernatorial candidate to represent our group at the forthcoming PDP gubernatorial primaries coming up in January, 2022.

It will be recalled that three aspirants presented themselves for the election in which Alhaji Lateef Ajijola won more votes than the others. However, the terms of the MOU before the election gave room for the elders' appeal panel to wade in incase the election conducts and result contravened the gentleman's agreements among the aspirants.

In line with this, a 5-man appeal committee headed by Rt.Hon.Tunji Odeyemi was set up after one of the aspirants petitioned the group's leadership with cited cases of malpractices pre and post the election.

After due considerations and investigations of all the allegations as contained in the petition; the Committee's findings as contained in their report released on the 28th, September. 2021 and signed by all the five-member committee upheld all the allegations as contained in the petition.

To this end, the Repositioning elders caucus had an online conference meeting on September 28, 2021 and adopted all the findings of the appeal Committee as presented.

In view of this, the prepordence opinions of the Elders was that the in-House election held on the 3rd of September, 2021 could not be said to have been held as a true representation of the intention of the organisers ( Repositioning Movement) to bring out a candidate that will represent the group at the forthcoming competitive Ekiti state PDP Governorship primaries.

It has been resolved therefore, that the group is YET To pick any candidate that will participate in the coming primaries. Members are to be calm and continue to trust in the leadership of the group that appropriate steps are being taken urgently to ensure that we choose a candidate to represent the interest of the Repositioning Group in the PDP gubernatorial primary come January, 2022.

In God we trust.

Signed,
Engineer Alaba Agboola.

Politics / Professor Eleka Delivers Lecture To Ekiti Students PIX by AishaYesufu: 9:41pm On Sep 04, 2021
Today, I had the privilege to present a Lecture titled: 'Youth Engagement Towards National Development' at the Annual Conference of Federation of Ekiti State Students Union (FESSU), OAU Chapter, at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where I interacted with my Ekiti-Kete brothers in the persons of Chief Kayode Adaramodu, Hon. Makinde Araoye and Hon. Ademiloye Moses.

At the event, I was equally honoured with Award of Recognition.

I spoke on the theme: 'Evolution in leaning towards transformational leadership', where I explained that the significance of learning and education is to ensure that society has individuals , especially youths with transformational leadership attributes.

I equally emphasised transformational leadership, which entails being visionary, creating an environment of trust, team-work and inspirational motivation as opposed to transactional leadership.

In the same vein, I made the participants understand the fact that the government must engage youths in governance and democracy by encouraging their wholesome participation, collaboration and inputs.

Conclusively, I reiterated that the niche of engagements that can birth national reforms is engaging the youths.

Politics / "You Are Known For Lies And Mischief", Eleka Campaign Organization Slams Okeya by AishaYesufu: 1:36pm On Aug 31, 2021
RE: ILLEGAL SUSPENSION OF PARTY OFFICIALS IN IKERE BY OKEYA: THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER

The campaign organization of Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, KOECO, has slammed a spokesman for Bisi Kolawole Campaign Organization, Mr Okeya, for spreading mischief against their principal.

MrAdeola Adebisi, spokesman for KOECO, made this known through a statement on Tuesday while reacting to claim by Mr Okeya that. Professor Eleka instigated the disciplinary action against a Chairman and his Vice by leaders of a Ward in Ikere-Ekiti

The statement reads;

The attention of Kolapo Olusola Eleka Campaign Organisation -KOECO has been drawn to a misleading and spurious statement concocted by one Mr Okeya – Secretary to the Media Committee of the Bisi Kolawole Campaign Organisation, where His Excellency, the former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola was erroneously alleged of being behind of suspension of some wards’ party officers

This rebuttal from us would not have been necessary since it’s coming from Bisi Kolawole Campaign Organisation, which has lost focus and every acceptability from the grassroots in Ekiti.

However, it became imperative to protect the minds of innocent readers from being misled. Hence, the need to set the records straight, at least, for the sake of posterity.

Kindly note that Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka is a peace-loving person with a high level of decorum.

Prof Olusola has never in the past deployed dirty tactics of telling lies or constructing fallacies in his political struggles and he will never resort to falsehood in his political engagements with the public or any group including those within the PDP in the future despite the numerous blackmail and calculated attacks being orchestrated against him particularly by the Bisi Campaign Organization.

No doubt, the attention of Prof Kolapo Olusola was drawn to the “Notice of Appeal Before Disciplinary Committee”, signed by Rt. Hon. Kehinde Jayeola and Hon. Benjamen Ajibare and other Executive members of Ilapetu/Ijao Ward, which was circulated on social media specifically on 30th August 2021.

Seeing this, Prof. Kolapo Olusola called those involved to order after making an independent inquiry regarding the roots and spurs of their press release.

Our Position: Separating Facts from their Lies.

It is within the powers and prerogative of the Ward Exco to mediate on internal issues, without involving any aspirant. After all, Mr Tosin Ajibare is also an aspirant who hails from Ikere.

However, the information within our reach reveals that the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the said Ward have refused to coordinate the activities of the ward properly since they came on board. It is also an unavoidable truth that no Executive meeting has been held since their emergence, which negates the provisions of the party’s Constitution regarding their positions and constitutional roles.

It was as a result of the “1” and “2” above that led to the summon sent to them to appear before a constituted panel to explain why they have refused to act according to the constitutional provisions. However, this summoning should not be misinterpreted as probably having any selfish or ulterior motive by the mischief-makers, who have nothing to offer the party and good people of Ekiti other than the poverty of deception through propaganda.

As a University Don, he believes discipline at all levels should be elicited and sustained in any system, and would therefore not support any act of impunity or unfair judgement on any party leader or delegate based on their choice of aspirants.

It is a shameful act of double standard on the part of Bisi Kolawole Campaign Organisation that was instrumental to the illegal suspension of Women Ward Leader of Ward 9, Ado Ekiti, Mrs Bolanle Owolabi based on her unrepentant likeness and support for Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

It is obvious that Mr Okeya, having lost his moral sense of dignity, has sold his conscience to the devil, considering his roles in this action.
Mr Okeya and his sponsors should be told that Prof. Kolapo Olusola’s acceptability across the state is massive. Hence, no amount of blackmail or media hatchet-job can demystify or destroy him.

The mischief-makers have immersed series of destructive strategies through dirty political shenanigans to polarise Ikere but they failed and would continue to meet stiffer resistance from the PDP delegates and stakeholders in the community. For example, we are aware of how they were only able to manipulate just a tiny fraction of the PDP delegates in Ikere to Lagos some months ago. Their desperation through the recently juggled fake empowerment form shows that they have finally lost the grip of delegates in Ekiti PDP.
Prof. Olusola will not join issues with anybody whose interest is to set the good people of Ikere against his ambition and overall interest of the town and Ekiti by extension. He is determined to pursue his divine call to contest for the governorship to a logical conclusion, not minding the divisive tactics of some of his opponents.

We call on Hon. Bisi Kolawole, who also doubles as the party Chairman to call his supporters to order in the overall interest of the party. The continued media exuberance from his campaign Organisation is not healthy for the party, considering that the PDP as a party is greater than the ambition of any single individual.

The consistency of Comrade Okai in the call for social, economic and political justice, has earned him myriads of commendations from individuals and groups within and outside Nigeria. "Comrade Okai is one of our youth leaders of PDP. His stance for social and political justice and advocacy for humanity make him an ideal fit for this award", Comrade Tamunotonye Inioribo stated this on behalf of the group on Thursday.

Continuing, Comrade Tamunotonye stated that;

"The youths of PDP are grateful to the United Nations and United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNESC) for recognising and awarding one of our own, Comrade Austin Okai, who has consistent shown leadership and capacity in all areas of endeavors.
