Lord I thank you for this thread, thank you because above all you are Jehovah Rapha, The Balm of Gilead, The I AM that I AM, the Ancient of Days, you have done it before and you will surely do it again. Remember there is a covenant of good health made between you and my family every year, and i believe if there is going to be a default it will never be from you but us. Now in any way any member of my family had defaulted so much my dad had to be this sick, then may it please you to show Mercy tonight. May it please you to set your word and heal of every strange illness. You promised not afflict us with disease of the egyptian and upon this word we stand, may we not be put to shame In Jesus Name. Every fluid in his brain should dry by the coming of the fire of the Holy Ghost tonight in Jesus Name. Let every accusing finger wither tonight in Jesus Name. You promised that we shall not bring forth for trouble and that we will not plant and another reap, why will he spend his retirement ill. Jehovah I call with a clear heart tonight, please heal my father. He had known you all his life and he still promised to dedicate his retirement to you why will the enemies be allowed to cut him short. Lord show mercy one more time, Baba show mercy one more time, let the blood of Jesus speak a better thing tonight than the blood of Abel. Raise a standard against enemies that come like flood and scatter them in the unity. We have every conviction in our hearts that THIS IS NOT UNTO DEATH but i feel the suffering is enough, the emotional trauma we are also going through is not good for us either. Please in you Jehovah is our help, you are our Shield and Buckler, the Bishop of our soul and the lifter up of our head. The WAY, please teach us on the next action to take. Thank you for all things.

Also Doppler - (pulsed, continuous wave, color flow). The mitral E/A ratio of LV diastolic filling is reserved. There is trivial mitral regurgitation. The real aortic and pulmonary artery systolic velocities are within normal range. Waiting 4 ur reply.

Continuation - the LV ejection fraction is 70%. There is no evidence of septal or wall motion abnormality. No clots or masses within the cardiac chambers. No mural thrombus seen.

I mean no sleep for 24 hours and then falls to sleep for 18 hours at a stretch, too weak to even wake up. Its quite disturbing, wen he fell sick a neurologist (am not sure if such will still be recomended again) was d first point of call so i dont know d what consultant to contact now. We consulted a general medicine when we left hospital who instructed via phone to stop all medications and which we had adhered to strictly, but the above trend had been evident for the past two weeks. (sorry i initially used my mobile to post and its limited u know)

I hope this reply is not deleted by the moderator.

If he's still having fever, it means he did not have malaria in the first place. I know in Nigeria all febrile conditions are malaria/typhoid until proven otherwise.

You need to request for blood culture, chest x-ray, urine culture, complete blood count, and chemistry profile. If he's already on antibiotics and continues to have fever, then it means you have to stop the antibiotics before taking the cultures.
Be sure they do sensitivity testing so that you can accurately pick the correct antibiotic this time.

Meanwhile you can give him tylenol or ibuprofen(with food) to relieve the fever as needed.

THANKS for this reply doc, we actually stopped all antibiotics according to a doctor's advice, it was while he was treating malaria that he had the "rigours" in his words. But more than anything he is very much better now and we hope to continue further treatments when the issue of body weakness is over which is quite fast and dramatic. I will definitely update you on further developments. God bless your work too

Hi everyone,

I need brethren to raise prayers for my dad, he is on a sick bed presently. We realized it is more of a spiritual attack than a medical thing. We are trying to do all we can medically. (kindly check my last posts for some details). He has always stood for the truth according to the integrity of his heart. He loves God and has always followed his ways. I need the Lord to show us mercy over his life, because it is standing for the truth that brought the attack. It is well with us. Prayers had been raised for my nephew on this forum before and I had testimonies, It can and will happen again. Thank you all

Hi doctors on board, i need an urgent help now

He is 67 yrs old, had a cough that lasted for a whole month, last year november after so many tests including sputum and x-rays, nothing was found i mean he wasnt a TB patient either, no HIV, no cancer except an inflammed lungs.

He was later placed on some anti-TB drugs which he had used for the past 4 months, and of course the cough subsided until like a month back he developed cold and catarrh which was treated. 3 weeks ago the situation deteriorated so much so he was seriously weak and when taken to the hospital in his weak state, he was thoroughly checked, i mean BP, temperature, urinalysis, blood culture and the doctor refused to admit him stating he cannot diagnose whatever was wrong. we were referred to the university teaching hospital where SEPSIS was querried.

For almost two weeks he was placed on antibiotics, (rocephine and flagyl) he came around after 6 days, recognised people but he still confused and lethagic. we did series of test at the teaching hospital and which i could only pick a lil of the results, eg. after an ECG i saw something like Left Atrial Enlargment (meanwhile other tests showed "normal" "negative"wink, we also went for ECHO test which we could not collect till we were discharged cos as at then he was already eating and can sit on the chair and can also sit up by himself, although the general weakness is still evident as he cannot stand on his own without support.

Now my problem is that from time to time after he was discharge he has been in this confused state, sleeps for so long, doesnt shift on his bed and of course cannot stand to toilet. I wish i know what is wrong, as at today though he opened his eyes and talks in a confused state. I wish i can be helped. WHAT IS ACTUALLY WRONG?
