Oyo state Government has ordered the immediate closure of Agodi Zoo over the killing of an attendant by one of the lions in the zoo.

A statement by Mr Yinka Fatoki, Executive Secretary, Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP) in Ibadan on Saturday said that the decision was to safeguard the lives of patrons.

Fatoki added that government had also taken the decision based on a report received from AM & C, the company managing the Zoo.

He quoted the report as saying: “one of the lions at the Zoo had accidentally attacked one of the attendants, Mr Hamzat Oyekunle popularly known as Baba Olorunwa.

Pastor Matthew Olakunle of the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Itura in Iju town, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, has said that he prays for women naked because God answers prayers faster without the clothes on.

He said this while admitting to the allegation of praying for the women in the church naked.

A 32-year-old woman, Omotola Akerele had accused the pastor while featuring in a programme on Adaba FM Akure, the Ondo State, of sleeping with her and getting her pregnant during a spiritual cleansing.

She said it was her mother, a member of the church, that introduced her to the pastor when she was battling with a severe cough.

Omotola, who hails from the town narrated that as a result of the sex she had with the pastor, she got pregnant and later aborted the pregnancy without the consent of her husband.

She told the radio station,

“I had a severe cough and my mother took me to Pastor Olakunle Mathew for prayer in Iju. After praying for me he said I needed a shaving stick and a handkerchief to perform the spiritual exercise which I took to him.

The BBC accidentally spread a sex scene while broadcasting a live newscast , which was watched by 3.8 million viewers.

While 22-hour news broadcaster Sophie Raworth was presenting a note on cricket, a computer screen – housed in the room that serves as a curtain for airing – showed a woman taking off her bra And showed her breasts.

The scene was noticed by viewers who immediately took the sequence to social networks.

It was unclear whether the scene was a pornographic film or was from a movie or series emitted by some television signal.

The BBC issued a statement saying it is investigating the incident and “establishing how the incident occurred”.

Deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, says he has pity for the people of Kogi state over their stance to recall Senator Dino Melaye who represents Kogi West in the senate.

Ekweremadu said this on the floor of the senate while he was reacting to an advertorial on a National daily in which the Attorney General of the state, Ibrahim Muhammad, called him out for a comment he made on the floor of the senate regarding Dino’s recall.



Ekweremadu last week said the recall process was dead on arrival and that the senate would have to certify the recall process carried out by INEC before Dino can be shown the door out of the house. In the newspaper publication, Muhammad faulted Ekweremadu’s position

“I must put on record that legal opinion of senator Ekweremadu on the role of the senate in the recall process, the senate has no role whatsoever in the recall exercise than to receive the certificate under the hand of the chairman of INEC stating that the provision of section 69 of the constitution has been complied with see 68 h of the 1999 constitution as amended,” Muhammad wrote

Reacting to the publication, Ekweremadu during plenary this morning, said the Attorney general forgot section 68 (2) of the constitution where it said the senate would still deliberate on whether Melaye should be recalled or not. He said he had pity for the people of Kogi state for appointing such an individual as their Attorney General

The plan by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to grow the nation’s crude oil reserves to 40 billion barrels by the year 2020 received a major boost yesterday with the execution of a tripartite agreement in Abuja.

The agreement was between the NNPC/FIRST Exploration & Production Joint Venture and Schlumberger for the development of the Anyalu and Madu fields in the Niger Delta under Oil Mining Licence, OML 83 and OML 85, offshore Nigeria.
