Whynotthetruth: My opinion is shown in those questions...NEC is an economic planning body not money sharing or approving committee...FAAC is a money sharing committee but not an approval committee...ECA is a strange language or an alien to our constitution...No law allows Jonathan to seek permission before tampering with ECA though it is morally wrong to do that but still not unconstitutional... ECA is not alien and has been in existence since Obasanjo. Its establishment was rooted in law. ECA belongs to all the 36 states and federal government. The president has limits and cannot legally operate ECA without NEC or what you call the approving committee. You have not said which body has the authority to approve money agreed to be shared by NEC or FAAC. In this regard, your opinion has not answered my question. I do know however that is not Jonathan for obvious conflict of interest, checks and balances. |

porka: When did Jonathan refuse to declare his assets as Buhari just did?
Do you have an understanding of this issue at all?
Assets declaration is compulsory for all public and civil servants.
Jonathan would not have refused to declare his assets and still be president.
What he didn't do was to make it public which Buhari promised he would do but has so far not done.
That is what they are talking about.
Do you understand now? You are obviously mistaken. Jonathan was on live show as saying that he did not give a damn about such declaration in the course of his presidency. Ask around or research news media you will find it. |

Whynotthetruth: I love your grammar but detest your points because they are far from reality and constitutionality... What's the constitutional function of NEC? What's the constitutional function of FAAC? What's the constitutional stance on ECA? If my points were far from reality or the constitution, you should have stated your own understanding of it. Asking me questions on the constitution, which you know like the back of your palm, makes that knowledge redundant. |

Where the suspect has state secrets, he could be tried in private as opposed to open court.
Furthermore, he is under oath not to reveal secrets acquired in the course of his duty.
Only in Nigeria would a criminal case be politicised.
Just deal with the man as any suspect in a criminal case and damn the consequence. True talk! Just imagine granting immunity for someone accused of serious criminal offence because of what he knows. If that is the case, GEJ and his top ministers can never face justice if impending probe finds them liable for criminal embezzlement. That's arrant nonsense! |

FAAC is the sole authority to approve payment or withdrawal from ECA, not GEJ.
Since FAAC has denied granting any approval, any depletion of ECA was therefore unauthorised misuse of public funds.
Okonjo-Iweala, being a financial officer, knew better than to pander to illegal order of GEJ.
Given your avid support for GEJ, you are the last person to speak on the matters of Nigeria's missing billions of dollars.

But in contradiction to their true feelings, they don't want Biafra because they want to perpetuate their right to collect the lion share of the oil resources sourced from the same peoples land, using the bogus criteria they foisted on the country called Nigeria.
Without oil in Igboland and Southern minorities part of Nigeria, Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani would have long seceded from Nigeria. FACT! You 're reasoning from the other end! If Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani secede from Nigeria, which part would be Nigeria then, Biafra? |

The president and his vice were not in government but just assumed office and have placed on public records their assets. This is something that Jonathan is reluctant to do - a president that over-saw failing economy and near bankruptcy of the nation.
I think the emphasis of Nigerians at this stage is full accountability of the PDP rule beginning with GEJ and his government.
The first step is full declaration of Mr and Mrs Jonathan's assets, Oil minister's, finance minister's and members of Jonathan's government's personal assets.
Anything else is a diversion and myopic preoccupation with PMB and his VP in the first week of their offices, which will not help Nigeria in knowing what went wrong or recover stolen billions. |

BackDatAssUp: The only major source of funding the 2014 budget was crude sales.
In spite of the drop in pricing which was duly captured in the budget with the low benchmark do you know we had no market for our crude since Obama blocked US imports from us but increased importation from Saudi Arabia.
If you major revenue drops the only option we had was to dip into our savings.
Try and post wisely. Your post isn't too spot-on. America stopped importation of oil from Nigeria because of excess Shale gas/oil being produced in America. American crude oil production was almost 10 million barrels per day. Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States are waging economic warfare against Nigeria and other oil-producing countries by doing American bidding and over-producing. However, America is not the only country in the world and Nigeria needs to source other markets, make strategic alliances and not depend on fair-weather friends like America. Nigeria as a major mineral-rich country should have diversified its economy during the 16 years of PDP to cope with the up and down of oil prices but for mismanagement and corruption we are at this sorry state. |

Amansu: @ poster, you have not been objective but have displayed a rabid hatred for GMB and APC.
For one, Buhari is a frugal person who abhors waste. Secondly he said he travelled as a private citizen on a private visit. How did this reason attract your venom?
You have obviously forgotten that it was PDP, and not APC, that was in power during these 16 years when the country was sucked dried and brought to her kneels.
As for alleged criminals' having funded Buhari's election, you were neither a witness nor were any of those persons convicted felons by a competent court.
Similarly, you are the first and only person I have knowledge of accusing GMB of corruption.
APC campaigned as a political party and pulled collective private resources to secure electoral victory while PDP and its government bankrupted the country in the process: fuel scarcity, black-outs, strikes, $63 billion debt, $20 billion missing from crude account and another $20 billion unremitted to Federation Account.
Nigeria is better off without the unbridled corruption and damnation of the country by PDP government, which should be probed to its rotten core.
Finally, the onus is on you to stop deceiving Nigerians with such cheap opinions as Nigerians are wiser after the debacle of GEJ. Splendid. My thoughts exactly! |
