GIC is the Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC)
Just showing proof of funds

CIBC is the bank - Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce that you can obtain a GIC from.

You can also get from other banks in canada as well.

For payment of school fees, I doubt this would happen as you can only activate your bank account in canada upon arrival if you are using CIBC.

Thank you. I was actually looking for the cheapest method of paying tuition fees since form A is not obtainable based on the fact that I can't even get the account details of Concordia university.

Nigerians are eligible for this
Check with CIBC
Just that it must be a minimum of 10k CAD
they will send you form and wire instructions and your bank account details
Funds must be by wire
You would get your GIC in few days.
When doing GIC make sure to your local bank fill the form accurately as specified.
Get your TELEX/ SWIFT copy from them as well (charges apply)
Please is this the cheapest method of paying school fees?
Also is Gic different from Cibc

please go to their website, look for your school, and input your payment, you would see the CIBC charges as well.

Approval and passport pickup. We can only wait!
They have not replied the email I sent last week Tuesday. Some guys here for about a month since he received his BVL.

Maybe someone can help send me Minister Mendicino email or Twitter handle so that we can enquire about our case, it appears we need some explanations, we can't be waiting endlessly, nobody is giving us useful information

Good morning people. Was recently directed to this page, as there seem to be a lot of well informed people on Canadian Study Permit applications.

Okay, I applied for my Study Permit in January 2020. My medicals were requested, completed and passed later in March.

Since then, Covid ran rampant and the application timeline has been a bit confusing.

I eventually got my Correspondence Letter in July and I haven’t gotten any update since then. In this process, my Admission Letter got expired in September and although I have an updated one, I don’t think I can upload it unless it’s requested for.

What do you guys think about my chances? Thank you.
I think your application has a positive outcome.
Just order for your GCMS note to get the details of why the delay.
Meanwhile you apply for deferment with the delay reason
We shall glorify God at the end.

Good evening all. My application got refused based on inability to demonstrate sufficient fund for my tuition and living expenses. My sponsor has a balance of 20m in the account I submitted. I don't actually know how to go about this. Please I need your support towards my next application
Order your GCMS note to know exactly what happened and how the VO arrived at that. If you think is your fault you reapply. Secondly you can contact immigration lawyer for judicial review but the lawyer will still need the GCMS note before anything is done.
Thank you.

This is funny but I think you're right because her SOP is not that bad. Please, how can she request for the judicial review? Thanks!

She needs to get an immigration lawyer in Canada who will file the judicial review for her. Mine charged $5k but if the case ends in first stage she will pay $750

They often reject people based on family ties to their home country. She is married, got a Hubby and 3 kids, Well established. What’s really that VO‘s problem didon !!
This Thing is sometimes hard to understand
I think judicial review will be the beat for her although I had a different case which led me to judicial review and it was decided in my favour.

Your lawyer should be able to advise you better on this.

quote author=OluwaFavored post=93029551]Hi House,

To the experience gurus here,

my SP was denied on 21 July with a single reason
"I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the
purpose of your visit.

I applied for a judicial review through a lawyer I was introduced to, but I didn't know judicial review take long time to conclude.

Now, I'm thinking re-applying but not sure if I can do that while the judicial review appeal is ongoing and not concluded yet.

Please, what do you think?

1. Wait for the review appeal to conclude? but this may not be against this fall 2020 according to the lawyer and my program does not have a Spring/Winter start, it also cannot be differed. I will have to reapply against Fall 2021. Its a very competitive program.

2. Withdraw the review request and reapply afresh for SP with maybe an affidavits that I will be returning home after my program since the only concern is my leaving Canada after my program. Again, get a certificate of enrollment from my school to add.

3. Lastly, do everything in #2 above but without withdrawing the review request.

Please, advise, so that I can take the steps before it is late. [/quote]

Really sorry to hear about all your refusals.
Like you, I am also waiting for my scholarship award update letter from a governmental agency.

Let me share my experience.

The delay in releasing scholarship letter cost me my admission at the University of Ottawa last year.

I got my admission to UBC in February, wrote to them and till date, I am yet to receive my updated letter.
In July, I decided to apply for my study permit with the old scholarship letter.

This is what I did:
1. I attached a letter of explanation to my proof of funds. I titled it: Letter of explanation (Funds)
In it, I gave a detailed explanation on everything that had happened since 2018. I explained that due to COVID-19, the governmental agency closed and they only partially opened recently, hence the delay in getting my updated sponsorship letter.

2. I got a letter of attestation from my employer ( The award is implemented by my employer (a university). In the letter, they assured the embassy that my updated scholarship award letter will eventually be released. They should give me the needed assistance.

In addition I submitted:
3. Old scholarship letter
4. Admission letter from Ottawa
5. Emails sent to the government agency
6. Showed proof that the agency had transferred the money into my account.

I submitted my application for my two kids and I. Earlier this month, I got my AIP

PLEASE NOTE: My immigration adviser from my school advised me against submitting. It was a risk.

I did it by faith in God.

I prayed and fasted. God did it. I am confident He will perfect that which He has started.

I wish you the very best. I hope this helps.

I also want to ask if introduction letter from my employer could serve as attestation?
