Y0ruba:
This goes to show Osinbajo is a much better lawyer than Banire & Akeredolu.

A lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria at that preempting how a case will go in court without recourse to the possibility of the legal arguments from the opposite team tells a lot about the pedigree of Banire and Akeredolu especially.

Jobs/Vacancies / 7 Things And Steps To Follow When Preparing For An Interview by anjowaka510(m): 9:16am On Mar 29, 2018
Do you have a job interview on your schedule? There are a number of steps you can take before (and after) the interview to ensure that you make a terrific impression during the interview. Below are tips on how to prepare for an interview.
1. Analyse the job.
An important part of interview preparation is to take the time to analyze the job posting, if you have it. As you review the job description, consider what the company is seeking in a candidate.Make a list of the skills, knowledge, and professional and personal qualities that are required by the employer and are critical for success in the job.
2. Make a match
Once you have created a list of the qualifications for the job, make a list of your assets and match them to the job requirements. Create a list of up to 10 of your assets that match the requirements of the job. These might include skills, qualities, certifications, experiences, professional qualifications, abilities, computer skills, and knowledge bases. You can bring up some of these assets when you explain to the employer why you are a great fit for the job. Also think of examples from past work experiences that show you have these qualities. This way, if the interviewer asks you to describe a time when you demonstrated a particular skill or ability, you will be ready.Review the job requirements, your list of assets, and your examples, prior to the interview so that you’re prepared to share them during the interview. This preparation will help you be ready to answer job-specific interview questions and behavioral interview questions designed to determine if you have the knowledge, skills, and qualities needed to perform the job.
3. Research the company
Before you go on a job interview, it’s important to find out as much as you can about not only the job, but also the company. Company research is a critical part of interview preparation. It will help you prepare to both answer interview questions about the company and to ask the interviewer questions about the company. You will also be able to find out whether the company and the company culture are a good fit for you.For a concise understanding of the company, check out the company website, specifically the “About Us” page. Get a sense of how the company compares to other organizations in the same industry by reading articles about the company in industry magazines or websites. You can also check out company reviews from clients and current and former employees.
4.Practise interviewing
Take the time to practise answering interview questions you will probably be asked during a job interview. This will help give you a chance to prepare and practise answers, and will also help calm your nerves, because you won’t be scrambling for an answer while you’re in the interview hot seat.Practise interviewing with a friend or family member ahead of time and it will be much easier when you’re actually in a job interview.Try to conduct the practice interview in the same format as the real interview. For example, if it is a phone interview, ask a friend to call you to practise answering questions over the phone. If it is a panel interview, ask a couple of friends to pretend to be a panel.
5.Get your interview clothes ready
Don’t wait until the last minute to make sure your interview clothes are ready. Have an interview outfit ready to wear at all times, so you don’t have to think about what you’re going to wear while you’re scrambling to get ready for a job interview.Regardless of the type of job you’re interviewing for, that first impression should be a great one. When dressing for an interview for a professional position, dress accordingly in business attire. If you’re applying for a job in a more casual environment, such as a store or restaurant, it’s still important to be neat, tidy, and well-groomed, and to present a positive image to the employer. It is also important to think about your makeup and accessories when dressing for an interview. Review these tips on how to accessorize for an interview.
6.Practise interview etiquette
Proper interview etiquette is important. Remember to greet the receptionist, your interviewer, and everyone else you meet politely, pleasantly, and enthusiastically.During the interview, watch your body language – shake hands firmly and make eye contact as you articulate your points. Pay attention, be attentive, and look interested. This is something you can work on in your practice interviews. The more positive an impression you make
, the better you’ll do during the job interview.
7.Listen and ask questions
During a job interview, listening is just as important as answering questions. If you’re not paying attention, you’re not going to be able to give a good response. It’s important to listen to the interviewer, to pay attention, and to take time, if you need it, to compose an appropriate answer. Also, be ready to engage the interviewer. You want there to be a give and take in the conversation, so you’re building a relationship with the interviewer rather than just providing rote responses to questions. Have questions of your own ready to ask the interviewer.Towards the end of the interview, let the recruiter know that you believe the job is an excellent fit and that you are highly interested.http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/how-to-prepare-for-an-interview/

Crime / Police Parades Criminals Allegedly Working For Melaye by anjowaka510(m): 5:39pm On Mar 19, 2018
THE Nigerian police on Monday paraded two notorious criminals allegedly working for the senator representing Kogi west senatorial district, Dino Melaye, to destabilise Kogi state towards the 2019 election. The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Jimoh Moshood, while parading the suspects, Kabiru Saidu aka Osama and Nuhu Salish, said were arrested by men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Kogi state on January 19, 2018/at Ogojueje in Dekina local government area of the state. He said the suspects confessed to being members of a kidnapping gang and also working as political thugs for politicians in the state. He said during interrogation, Saidu had been working as a political thug for Mohammed, who later introduced him to Melaye, who he later met along airport road in Abuja.Moshood said, “The suspect further confessed that sent Dino Melaye told him that they should start working for the senator as his political thugs and they should recruit and train more other thugs to work for him in preparation towards 2019 general election to enable him to challenge his political opponents and disorganise Kogi state”.He further alleged that the gang leader confessed that the senator gave them one AK47 rifle, two pump action guns and N430,000.The FPRO, however, said following the indictment of Melaye and criminal confessions against him, the force had written the Senate president requesting him to release Melaye to report to the Kogi State command of the police on March 7, to enable the police to investigate the issue. He added that the senator had since refused to honour the police invitation, while a case of criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms had been filed against the two suspects at the Federal High Court Lokoja. However, in his reaction to the allegations, Melaye said it was framed up and an orchestrated attempt by the state government to discredited him.The senator said he had never seen the suspects in his life and did not have anything to do with them.http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/police-parades-criminals-allegedly-working-for-melaye/

Politics / Ekiti 2018: Fayose Predicts Easy Win For His Deputy by anjowaka510(m): 2:22pm On Mar 15, 2018
GOVERNOR Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State on Wednesday predicted an easy win for his deputy, Professor Kolapo Olusola in the July 14 governorship election in the state.Governor Fayose, who addressed a meeting of various groups in the state’s education sector, including teachers and Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) in Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday, said his strong political ties with the Ekiti electorate as well as his performance as a governor, would make the victory easy for Olusola as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).Fayose was also invested as the Grand Patron of National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria, Ekiti chapter at the event.Fayose said his government had achieved so much in the area of education owing to the fact that all critical stakeholders in the sector were in collaboration with the state government.According to him, Professor Olusola would not deviate from the path they had both instituted in the education sector in the state.Fayose, who officially presented Olusola to the stakeholders said: “Deputy governor Olusola’s victory will be easiest in the country’s political history because I have not deviated from the ideals that people considered to bring back in 2014.He said Ekiti was ranked 35th when he came in NECO in 2014 and that he has been able to bring the result to the first position in 206 and 2017 through series of motivations for teachers.“But let me say this, your victory is not in the hands of politicians, I have even told those around me. It is in the hands of Ekiti people, I mean the electorate.“Ekiti people are very resolute people. If they say they don’t want you that is the end. If they like you, you will see it. If they hate you, they won’t hide it, so you can see that they like me with the way they have been relating with this government.“You will see how they will help you on the day of the election. You will see how they will vote and stand by their votes,” Fayose assured his deputy.Assuring his deputy that the victory has become a fait accompli, Fayose said: “Don’t worry yourself about your victory, you had already won.Assuring his deputy that the victory has become a fait accompli, Fayose said: “Don’t worry yourself about your victory, you had already won.Assuring his deputy that the victory has become a fait accompli, Fayose said: “Don’t worry yourself about your victory, you had already won.http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/ekiti-2018-fayose-predicts-easy-win-for-his-deputy/

Politics / Benue Indigenes Release Wish List, As Buhari Visits Tomorrow by anjowaka510(m): 4:14pm On Mar 11, 2018
AS President Muhammadu Buhari tomorrow visits Benue State to condole with the government and people of the state over incessant killings by herdsmen, widows and other victims of the killings have drawn up a number of demands and commitments from the president. The release of the wish-list coincided with the rolling out by Governor Samuel Ortom of the programme of events for the visit.Speaking with Sunday Tribune, victims and stakeholders in the state said they would most importantly want President Buhari “to heal the wounds” of the people of the state.Chief Ode Enyi, who is the spokesperson for the state’s pan-socio-cultural group, comprising Mdgzou U Tiv, Idoma National Forum and Oyi’ Ngede, highlighted four major desires of the people of the state from Buhari.“We want restructuring, particularly, state police. Let him restore lasting peace and order, comply with the directive of the House of Representatives, which ordered the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to ensure that police enforce the Anti-open Grazing Law and to remember the state in the initiation of infrastructural projects,” he said.He added that the state had been neglected by the Buhari administration since the advent of the government. The president general Tiv Youth Organisation, Timothy Hembaor, in his own remark, described the visit as belated, despite ignoring all calls by the state government about the threat of Miyeiti Allah Kautal Hore to take over Benue Valley.Hembaor said that their only wish was for the president to recognise the anti-open grazing law and to order for its full implementation. For Madam Agber, a mother of three at Agaan IDP camp in Guma Local Government Area of the state, her concern was to return to her ancestral home, asking “if his coming will ensure our early return to our ancestral home by stopping the killings immediately.”Mrs Atser, also in the same IDP camp, said: “My sincere desire is for the president to stop these killings in Benue. This is the first time my family is recording casualties. In 2014, I lost my husband and our house was burnt. We spent almost two months in the camp at Gbamjimba, headquarter of Guma local government. My appeal is that Buhari should stop these killings. I heard he is the father [patron] of these herdsmen.”http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/benue-indigenes-release-wish-list-as-buhari-visits-tomorrow/

Politics / Buhari Has Turned Condolence Visits To Campaign Rallies —PDP by anjowaka510(m): 11:01am On Mar 10, 2018
The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said on Friday that President Muhammadu Buhari has turned his belated tour of violence affected states to campaign rallies.

The party, which spoke through its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said that the President was unconcerned about the real victims of violence in the affected states.

According to him the PDP saw it earlier that the President was not ready to empathise with the people over the persistent loss of lives and it cried out.

He also said that the APC led government has now demonstrated clearly that it was all about 2019 rather than empathising with the people.

“We have said it before that the visits were afterthoughts. We have since discovered that the visits were aimed at wooing voters for 2019 and nothing more. The President does not empathise with the real victims of the violence,” PDP said.

It also questioned the decision of the President to commission projects on such visits saying that Buhari has further vindicated the party’s claims.

“The afterthoughts visits of Mr President are only geared towards mobilising votes from the affected states. But Nigerians are aware the APC has failed.

“It is sad that the President will be going round commissioning projects when he was supposedly on condolence visits. What is the link between cutting tapes and visiting the graveyard? Is there any link between commissioning of projects and the graveyard? We have all seen that the whistle stop trips embarked upon by President Buhari is meant to woo voters ahead of 2019,” the PDP said.

Tinubu singlehandedly brought in Oyegun to APC, when he was accused of fielding only Moslem then, The interim party Chairman was Chief Bisi Akande, the Spokesman then was Liar Mohammed all Muslim. He went and brought John Oyegun a christian to chairman the party to douse religious bigot tension. But Oyegun has aligned with Buhari and not his benefactor. Tinubu also prop Bhuari as the President of the party when he did not have money to obtain the form. He brought the primary to Lagos and fought Atiku and Kwankwanso dollar for dollar to get PMB the ticket.

But all is history today. I trust Jagaban he is a cat with nine lifes, he will spring a surprise. If he can fight OBJ PDP for eight years without allocation, survive OBJ onslaught that sweep all AD governor away then. singlehandedly form a coalation that dethrone PDP sixteen years rule. PMB is not a match for him.

PMB should be ready to go back to Daura as soon as possible.
It will not be a surprise to me if he dethroned d said PMB cos, I know him as a master strategist he has just used one out of ten he had

Politics / Zero Hunger Will Break The Circle Of Hunger In The North East ―obasanjo by anjowaka510(m): 8:59pm On Mar 08, 2018
Former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has said that zero hunger will definitely reduce or eliminate completely the scourge of insurgency in the northeast. The former President who was a guest of the third pair review of the states involved in the zero hunger programme for Nigeria in Maiduguri Thursday said that twenty-five out of twenty-six young people are in insurgency because they do not have work to do.Chief Obasanjo said that the zero hunger programme will surely engage the young people of the northeast and Nigeria if well coordinated by the states concerned so that their attention will not be diverted into an insurgency. The former President of Nigeria said that out of the seventeen sustainable development goals, set by the united nations, zero hunger has a validation for fourteen of them which is why it cannot be ignored by any African.“Let me assure you that we are not trying to bring more policies beyond what exists now, we have many of these policies that can take us to where we must be.“As a matter of fact, we are trying our best to help the sector to grow regardless of lack of funds and the ability to ensure that the agro sector is resuscitated. This is what we are into, making sure that hunger is put at bay especially in the northeastern corner of Nigeria.“Indeed twenty five out of twenty-six were into Boko Haram because they had no job as such zero hunger will break the circle of this dangerous way which is not making progress in the country. We will not relent till they get to the bottom of that matter.” He noted.Obasanjo assured that partner governments have to bring the young men into a grid for proper coordination adding that it will surely help in fighting the backbone of insurgency in the state. In his remarks, Governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima said that the two days meeting is a follow up on the last pair review session held in Abakaliki, Eboyin state. He said that the war against zero hunger must be won against all costs before 2025 because that is a great opportunity to achieve success in food production.According to him, “we must fight poverty to end the lingering insurgency which has engulfed the northeast of Nigeria.”Food and Agricultural Organization FAO representative in Nigeria Suffyan Koroma called on President Obasanjo to use his tremendous influence to extend the zero hunger programme to the rest of Africa.http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/zero-hunger-will-break-the-circle-of-hunger-in-the-north-east-%e2%80%95obasanjo/

Politics / "Buhari’s Visit To Rivers State Will Not Resurrect Dead APC" - Wike by anjowaka510(m): 7:36pm On Mar 08, 2018
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has stated that the Federal Government has not briefed him on the much-touted visit of President Muhammadu Buhari’s proposed visit to the state or why he is coming to the state.

He, however, offered that the President’s visit might be aimed at reviving the dwindling fortunes of the All Progressive Congress (APC) which the governor described as dead in the state.

The Governor made the assertion Thursday while Flagging off the reconstruction of Egbelu Street and construction of link roads in East-West in Rumuodara, Obio Akpor Local Government Area.

He said: “I hear they say that the President is coming to our state. I have not been told the President is coming and why he is coming. He has the right to come to any state.

“Maybe the President is coming to make sure that he will improve the fortunes of the APC that is dead in Rivers State.

“Apart from Jesus Christ, we don’t know of anyone who has risen a dead thing. APC is a dead party in Rivers State. No matter how you fast and pray, it will never wake up”, Wike declared.

Rivers State is listed among the states President Buhari would be visiting over the recent unwarranted killing of innocent people with Benue, Taraba and Plateau state also on the list.

But governor charged Rivers people not to be bothered about the politics or otherwise of the visit, because the state is very peaceful.

He said; “Let nobody bother him or herself that the President is coming for security reasons. We don’t have security challenges in the state.

Pro-Biafra group storms Anambra Assembly, wants enactment of Anti-grazing law

“We have never had herdsmen killings or crisis in the state, except when some criminals tried to disrupt the peace and they were checked. We resolved that challenge”.

He stated that there is no state in this country where kidnappers and armed robbers are not operating. He said if President Muhammadu Buhari is visiting because of Kidnappers and Armed Robbers, then he should visit all the 36 states.

He, however, noted that as the state that produces the wealth that supports the country, President is welcome to visit the wealth producers of the nation.

According to him: “Since the administration has abandoned Rivers State for three years, this visit may be a blessing in disguise. The President may use the visit to complete the Port Harcourt International Airport, the neglected East-West road, the neglected seaports and the rejected Port Harcourt-Aba road”.

Speaking on the road, Governor Wike said the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Jaja drew his attention to the challenges faced by residents of the populated suburbs.

He urged the people to cooperate with the contractors to ensure scheduled completion of the road.

Commissioner of Works, Dum Dekor said the seven roads will be completed in six months, while the project will offer employment to 230 youths.

The Works Commissioner noted that the road construction will also resolve the environmental challenges facing the residents.

Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area Caretaker Committee, Prince Noble Amadi praised the governor for key projects across the area, assuring him of total support in 2019.

Politics / Obasanjo @ 81: How I Wish My Parents Were Alive by anjowaka510(m): 3:34pm On Mar 06, 2018
NIGERIA’S former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, said one of his regrets in life was the inability of his parent to witness his success story in life.He described their dnsidering their sacrifices in making him what he has become as a man today.Obasanjo said this in his remarks at a reception organised to mark his 81st birthday, held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, on Monday. He said he was convinced that his late parents would be happy in their graves with the numerous achievements he had so far recorded in life.“One thing that saddens my heart when I remember is that my parents left this world too early. They made sacrifices and they did not wait to see the results. How I wish they have waited to see and eat fruits of their labour.“But going by what Yoruba believe and says that, the dead always watch over their beloved ones and see happenings around them, I am convinced that, my parents are happy in their graves, as they watch over me,” he said.Obasanjo said his parents’ inability to be alive to witness the turnaround in his life was “sad and regrettable” despite sacrifices made by them to ensure his success. He further said that the remaining of his years on earth would be for the service of God and humanity saying, “I will continue to appreciate, praise adore and worship God.“We must be able to serve humanity, if we can’t serve humanity, we can’t serve God. I do not believe God had created a bad situation for Nigeria or any country in Africa.”http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/obasanjo-81-i-wish-parents-alive/

Nairaland / General / Rainfalls: NIMET Insists Rainy Season Hasn’t Set In by anjowaka510(m): 2:09pm On Mar 06, 2018
Although several parts of the country have continued to experience downpours of rain, Mr Ajeyomi Adewale, Zonal Manager, South West, Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMet) has re-echoed the Director-General, Professor Sani Abubakar Mashi’s announcement that such occurrences of rainfall do not signal the commencement of the rainy season and the associated planting season, adding that the dates for the commencement of the rainy season will be announced soon. The zonal manager said that the rainfall experienced was not uncommon especially when the temperatures were high over a particular period of time. He explained that the high temperatures led to rapid evaporation of moisture from water bodies leading to the eventual downpour of rain.Speaking specifically about the Southwestern part of Nigeria Adewale said, “Last year, between the 18th and 20th, we had downpour of rain. To those not into weather, this is an unusual thing. And you will notice this year that the temperature is relatively higher compared to previous years. So, that is probably why the frequency of rainfall has been higher. This is not an uncommon situation. It is the usual thing.”He said that currently, the usual dry season would subsist until April when he said the rainy would fully commence in the Southern part of the country.“Like my DG has already told the nation, this is not the commencement of the rainy season so that people do not see the rains and start planting. The actual date will be coming up once we do the rainfall prediction.”http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/rainfalls-nimet-insists-rainy-season-hasnt-set/

Politics / Ajimobi’s Third Term Story A Misunderstood Parable — Olubadan by anjowaka510(m): 8:24pm On Mar 05, 2018
The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji,  has described the Governor Abiola Ajimobi third term statement  credited to him at the weekend in the media  as largely misunderstood because people could not read between the lines.”This was made known  in  statement signed and issued by the Personal Assistant and Director, Media and Public Affairs to the Olubadan, Mr  Adeola Oloko, on Sunday.Oloko said, “Oba Adetunji made this clarification while receiving  some  Ibadan indigenes, who came to pay  him homage at his  palace, in Ibadan, as part of the ongoing Ibadan Week.”Oba Adetunji, according to the statement, said “As a   traditional ruler, I have no power over the election and re-election of anybody, not to talk of tenure extension that is unconstitutional. Besides, when I was exchanging banters with the governor, I was only cracking a joke with him as a son and subject.“Even, if Ajimobi offended us, it would be indecorous on my part to address him harshly. Besides, there is a subsisting judgment over the controversial chieftaincy review which awaits compliance.“The Olubadan denied ever receiving any gratification from  Ajimobi and/or his proxies for cracking the third term joke as being insinuated in  some quarters, adding that if anybody has demonstrable evidence, he should feel free to produce it..,”The  traditional ruler, who noted that what appears simple and straight forward could sometimes be pregnant with meanings, is of the opinion that only the discerning could understand complexity in simplicity. He, however, appealed to all  his children who are aggrieved over the statement not to  take the matter to heart and read more about the use of language, idioms and sarcasm.http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/ajimobis-third-term-story-misunderstood-parable-olubadan/

From Kasuwar Magani, a town in the southern part of Kaduna State, MUHAMMAD SABIU reports that falling in love has become a dangerous venture among youths in the community as a crisis broke out early last week Monday as a result of religious differences.KASUWAR Magani, a town in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State has always been a controversial town. Populated by a local people called Adara on one hand and Hausas, Kajuru is still today a town hotly contested for by the two major groups.A resident of the town who gave his name as Mallam Abdullahi believes the Hausa own the town.  He told the Sunday Tribune that over 100 years ago the first person to settle in the town was a Hausa man. According to him, ‘the Adara people who claim ownership of the town were idol worshippers living in the surrounding thick forests.“They were living in those hills behind the town. It was later when they saw us here in Kasuwar Magani they began to come out from the mountains and settled with us. That’s the reason you see that the population of the Hausa community is appreciable,” he said. Thus, 40 years ago, the town came to the front burner of national discourse when violence erupted leading to loss of lives and destruction of property. Then governor of the state, Alhaji Balarabe Musa quickly intervened by introducing a curfew.http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/kasuwar-magani-community-forbidden-love/

The crisis rocking the Kogi state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state got messier on Friday as a faction of the party expelled the state chairman, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo, from the party. The faction said the expulsion followed the failure of the embattled chairman to defend the allegations of anti-party activities and corrupt practices levelled against him by members of APC in Kogi state.Apart from expelling the chairman, the new leadership of the party in the state also passed vote of confidence on the national  Chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun for his commitment and selfless service to APC.
