This write up is for National Open University of Nigeria Governing Council, i want to appeal to the senate of the university to reopen the course and exam registration, in any university system it is very wrong to close both exam and course registration at the same time, the process should be gradual, course registration close first follow by exam registration. I want to commend the effort of this present VC for his firm decision most of the the time on issues that relate to academic progress but at the same time , i want to appeal to you not to be too rigid because of the following reasons- Open university system is a flexible programme as such should be treated, even in conventional university, when course and exam registration officially closed, students are still permitted to go to ICT to register their courses and exam. Other reasons include the economy situation of the country where workers are owing backlog of salaries and pension arrears and effect of economy recession biting on both parents and children and most of National Open University students are in these categories, workers especially. Urgent solution to this problem is that the ICT in each study centre should be allowed to register those students willing to register for exam to do so if the authority cannot make it public, i quiet agreed with you that you may not open the course registration to prevent mass failure but students who have already registered for course should be allowed to register for exam. thanks, waiting for reply from VC.

This piece is for the management teams of National Open University of Nigeria, i want to express my profound gratitude to the VC and all other management teams of the university in making effort to make sure all necessary thing are put in place for smooth running of the university. However, i want to express my disappointment in the way and manner the management is handling the issues of upgrading and management of NOUN website especially in school fees payment, loading the school fees paid to student portal, availability of the said money in student portal and all other features like balance in wallet etc. It seems the management is not taken the issues serious, students will paid and the money will not reflect in portal while the remita website will insist that it is school that can only correct the situation, the management team that suppose to supervise the situation fold their arms waiting for miracle to happen while the bursary department of the university has seen it as avenue to manipulate things in the way they like based on Nigeria system, while the programmer that suppose to take action and correct the error in the system take instruction from those that don't want the system or the vc to succeed thereby using the opportunity to do things in the way they like. Now, this is my question, if student pay school and web designer is unable to build a site that can load the money to the student portal automatically and such student can provide evidence of payment at their respective study centre, then while the delay in making sure that such money is loaded to such student portal manually if not automatically, what is the work of the bursary department and other management team in charge of such situation. This issues of website upgrading is a terrible situation in NOUN, i think the management should try as much as possible to get competent hands to handle this situation. Money pay to remita and which has been received by remita through banks failed to upload to students portal, some pay 18,000 into bank met 180,000 in their portal while those who pay 45- 65k are unable to get the money in their portal, this is a terrible situation i have never witness in the history of NOUN. I think it is high time those in charge should give chance to a more competent hands to handle the situation. I am using this opportunity to advice the VC to employ more computer programmer or send the IT experts to more training that can cope with the situation on ground. the present website design for NOUN students is below the standard that can cope with the present set of students. the website lack many functionalities. precisely, no add and drop course, money failed to upload both manually and automatically, printing from web is not functionally as it should be particularly the tma, you can not open tma in new tab, the website uploading is very slow, the fact that only google chrome can averagely open the website is 35% failure, a good and well design website should be friendly with all browser. what type of expert design this website, i suspect it should be one of those professor in the university or one of the half baked graduate that has forged their way through academic programme and i am sure such person is not a product of NOUN, i hereby condemned the website in totality, i am an average computer programmer i can designed a web that is 80% better than what is operating at present, it is a good development to build and upgrade NOUN website but a more competent hand should be employed to handle the situation, as at now the website is showing access denied while exam is coming up this month or next month.
