@davodyguy
PLEASE DONT TAKE YOUR TILER TO THE PLACE YOU ARE BUYING TILES
My brother you don't need your tiler
First thing
Get your Engineer to give you measurement
Go out there and look at tiles and get prices
Pick the type of tiles you want
Bring few of the tiles to your sit, get the tiler to review the tiles
Now tell the tiler go give you measurement-------"Time for your eye to Open"
Now go buy the tiles base on the Engineer measurement
Tell the tiles seller to MAKE SURE THE NUMBER OF YOUR TILES YOU BUY IS COMPLETE
Call the tiler to come start work
Tell the tiler the total piece of tiles you bought
That you will count each room IN PIECE

This is the same advice I gave him yesterday but he refused, he kept cursing Igbos and blaming them for his woes which he caused by himself. I even told him the guy can defeat him in a judgement because he failed to count his own goods before evacuation. The blame is his.

Guys
While we work and go about, let's not forget COVID-19 is real.

The attached image is for an uncle we lost to COVID-19 on Christmas Eve.

I've cried all night since then, cause it's a painful loss.

God that made us to witness January 1st 2020 will keep us alive to see many more years.

RIP uncle BJ

I am with you on this, we cannot allow these other tribes be profiling others for their mistakes.

We were all here some years ago when Brabus swindled up to 10 clients in our full glare here. Nobody, nobody ever mentioned that Yoruba people are crooks and 419 people. Everyone respected themselves, but one poor fvull will lose his money via greed and come on here to castigate a whole tribe of about 40 million people.

Everyone should condemn this.

Brabus might be forgiven for his stealing and being a crook because he is Yoruba. We are allowed to be dishonest and still brag about it because we own Lagos, we decide who should steal and who shouldn't grin

Igbos should be dishonest only in the East alone tongue

The Ikwere-Benin attachment is the most ridiculous of all. Benin came to Ikwerre land at the time when the empire was collapsing like a pack of card. after depopulating the west, Benin looked east but before they could enter the eastern heartland the Portuguese left bight of Benin and moved to Bight of Biafra. After this movement by Portuguese, Benin lost its monopoly of guns as Arochukwu acquired the new weapons and chased Benin out

Sounds like the truth.

Nice analysis,
However, you will hit a brick wall if I tell you to explain if it's the whites that gave these equally ancient towns their names.

Onicha Enugu
Onicha olona
Onicha ebonyi
Onicha ugbo

I think Onicha was the right spelling and pronunciation of the town Onitsha before the whites came and spelt what they liked. There was Aniocha also in Anambra and another in Igbo Delta, so that doesn't count.

I agree with you completely.

Yinmu!

Before stone-coated, there was Nigerite Super lightweight. Then, longspan roofing sheet. Later, Steptiles. Not too long metcopo, shingles, shakes, Gerald, polycarbonate, SIP, acrylic and so on...

Everything is only a matter of time!

_____

I did a project in Lekki, Lagos for a high profile Nigerian here and he decided to use Nigerite roofing sheet. He cares not about who’s looking! His land costs about 60m lipsrsealed

Wring analogy again grin

That a rich man decided to hail a taxi and go to work, it's either he wants to throw off his enemies and pass in a vehicle they don't know, or he is afraid to scratch his car.

That a rich man decided to use Nigerite, it's either he is building a house for his people where he won't stay for long, or he's protecting his land from grabbers with a house.

For a poor person like me, it's different. If a poor person decides to use aluminium, it's because he knows he cannot afford better options. The poor don't pretend to be poor. grin

Do you know that using goods that gives you happiness can make one to live longer?

I laugh when some people who are as poor as me tell me that it doesn't matter what they use to roof their house, or that the neighbours can go to blazes as he isn't trying to satisfy them.

The day you start building, you are dancing in an open square and many are watching you. If you cannot afford some finish, we understand and nod in sympathy, but for some to come here and tell me it's a matter of choice to see stone coated and still use aluminium, ask them why they didn't use grasses as roof like in the olden days, why did they even bother to use aluminium? grin

Not at all!

When Simonkk wanted to supply me just 400k light fixtures, they came in their official bus.

Here we’ve seen someone who took 1.8m to buy cable from retailers and still end up paying transport.

The person who had 1.8m to spend is not a small player. It’s just that we are not fully exposed to the endless opportunities out there.

_______

When I first wanted to buy from these guys, they were like “We have minimum orders.”

I just told them “I have access to a very large market and I can recommend people to buy from you on a daily basis.”

I’ve had to walk in to many iron foundries to enquire about steel. If I can’t buy direct, I can get people to buy for me.

What I am telling you is that everyone cannot be driving to SimonKk to buy 10 pieces of light bulbs worth 8k for their small house, and that those who buy in bits are so much in the majority, and that's why the retailers are thriving.

Your example is way off the mark because people still patronise those small retailers with good results at the end. Please let's not demonise small players, if not, we will be going to the north to buy pepper for our stew instead of buying from Iya Basira.

Errrm, I'm confused. . . .
What tribe are the honest people who sell quality from??

Judge a man based on your interaction with him not this Tribe nonsense. Some of you will probably see honest sellers and swerve because thier price is "high" . then turn to the dishonest ones with more attractive prices and come here to wail when you get swindled.
some guy embarrased himself sometime ago, gloating about buying cheap cables from some seller, after cussing out reputable suppliers ( i think topsy or twinsken) with higher prices ..... .but alas he had bought trash for the price of trash.

Do your due diligence,

95 % of the people who trade in those items you mentioned above are From the same tribe , so both the honest and dishonest sellers will statistically come from the same pool. It's common sense

That's what I was saying all along, If a story sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Stop thinking you're too smart because you will lose at the end.

My worry is that instead of people to admit they were greedy, they try to pass the blame off to another people he hates so he can claim victim. A wise person would have taken his beating and swallowed his hurt and walk away instead of trying to tarnish a while tribe of people.

I think I over-exaggerate that part but I hardly deal with small retailers these days. I walk in directly to companies and direct importers to make my purchases.

Cement - Lafarge
Sand - Berger, Ilaje or anywhere dump trucks can get it.
Light fixtures - Simonkk, Ago
Iron Rods - I do POD
Blocks - I produce them myself.
Granite - I get account for Quarry.
Plumbing tinz - I do Rifeng or POD with verified suppliers.
POP/Plasterboards - I do direct importers (Omega in Mushin)
Interlock Mould - a Chinese company in Eleyele Ibadan.

I do bulk buying and as a matter of fact, I still have some material I bought 6 years ago in my store.

I don't understand what you are trying to do here, are you mocking those who cannot afford to do bulk buying or what? I think what you should be advising them is how to do your due checks and how to ensure they are not cheated.

You cannot be telling everyone to buy bulk because you did same. Some people are small players and so they must buy in bits.

I respect you bro for this.

Everything rises and fall on leadership.
It’s the government’s role to introduce statutory price and quality control to maintain smooth economy in nation.

The people in power knew what to do. They just don’t care.

For a very long time, we were getting cement at factory price in my ongoing project. The ministry supervising the project ordered the cement directly from Lafarge.

Let’s ask ourselves, what’s the work of SON, MAN etc?

I stopped patronizing retailers/agents a very long time ago. I buy direct from companies (Coleman, Lafarge, Dangote, Simonkk and the likes).

I count my stuffs on site.

Wrong wrong wrong!

There is no government in Nigeria. Everyone does what they like and for those who will get lower prices, it's a case of a government body arm twisting another government body or forcing themselves on another private body to sell cheaper, not because there is any laws anywhere being followed.

The sooner you all start to learn that you are on your own and stop all these cries about being swindled by doing your own checks, the better for you.

Oh, you stopped patronising retailers? You are a big liar! What happens if you need small quantities of an item, you will go to Coleman factory and request for 2 coils of wire or to Pfizer and request for a card of paracetamol? cheesy

He went to the market after a carrot was dangled in his front and he swooped on the carrot thinking we was being smart, then he was outsmarted!

This is painful, knowing my wife warned me not to deal with this guy.

A lesson for Kobo Kobo project owners.

Always count all you buy, from cement to tiles to cables to pipes to taps.

Count at the store, count again in the vehicle and when you get to site, recount.

Don't pay anyone until goods are supplied.

We must encourage retailers, that's what I thought. But some retailers are evil.

We're in Agric Market Orile, all through. While tried to make U turn to the other side, this guy did what he did and said no need to check.

On getting to site, we counted and found discrepancies. We called him and he lied that he loaded it before we came, which is why he said we should not bother recounting from the truck.

He said he's not going to the village for Christmas, but staying in Lagos.

We called him this morning not to take our words, that he should come to the site to count. The guy said he's in the village and not back till end of January, 2021

See life.

When God strike some people, we would not know they're paying for their evil deeds.

Too many wicked people in Nigeria.

₦130,000 plus gone on Christmas day

You can keep sounding self righteous because you already had the plan to blame someone else for your laxity. You failed to count your goods and you are here still blaming the seller when you should have turned back the truck at the road to recount.

I hate it when people come online to spread hate because of their own failure to do the right things. A nairalander even offered you lower prices, but noooo, you must go buy from those whom you don't like, whom you claimed had cheated you many times just to come and cry here?

When buying tiles, ensure you do the measurements accurately with your tiler and also ensure proper conversion from sqm to cartons and lastly if possible, after agreeing price with supplier, go with your tiler when going for pickup.

I just got swindled of 90+ cartons costing over ₦130,000.

Lesson learned.

I know all tribes in Nigeria have bad people, but we need to be wary of some particular ones.

When I bought cables from them, it's the same thing until I stood my ground.

When I bought conduit pipes from them, it's same thing. They sold fake 20mm at the price of original 20mm Dignity pipes. I stood my ground and returned all pipes

Now it's tiles from Orile.
This criminally minded Patrick Ebere knew what he did, smuggled all the tiles in the truck before my arrival to make U turn to the other side.
