Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Please, Advise Me On This Banking Job I Got by BigIyanga: 1:42pm On Feb 26
salvationproject:
I am a fresh graduate, left NYSC few months back and recently landed a graduate trainee job at one of our commercial banks here in Nigeria. But I have been afraid recently. This is because I will be under sales/marketing. And I have been hearing of all these 50m, 90m, etc. deposit targets.
Training school will be commencing soon and a part of me is telling me not to report.
Please, who have experience how these things work? Advise me please.
Fresh graduate.. and you’re already afraid of life and its tests.. life is full of targets and benchmarks… go ye out and smash those targets

Politics / Re: CBN Plans To Limit Buying And Selling Of FOREX In Cash By BSCs To $500 by BigIyanga: 9:34pm On Feb 25
Why does Naija need BDCs? Why not go to your bank with ur BVN,NIN, FORM-A, FORM M.. Banks vet your docs and request for FX. then CBN will pay the oversea recipients on FOrm M or A… and you have 90days to submit bill of lading to your banks for onward transfers to sNaija customs.

CBN should build a portal like Jamb/WAEC wheb FX disbursement with Form M/A can be submitted and tracked in real time.

An elder statesman making some vitriolic and incendiary comments about the war that happened over 50yrs ago. It would seem that their primary goalwas to fight for Naija and share the spoils of war.
50yrs later, no city in Naija can boast of 24/7 electricity like Accra .
No city in Naija can boast portable water that you can drink from tap without catching diarrhea and diseases.

Imagine if they built, Benin, Kaduna and Lagos into mega Africa cities like Cairo, Nairobi, Johansburg…nope. They just shared and allow it to rot.

Leave these people to be fooling themselves. They think everyone is as braindead as they're. People that voted Tofa over Abiola. Their voting oattern is "vote the most popular candidate that can contest power against the candidate Yorubas are supporting". They're not smart at all (though they fool themselves that they are).
STFU. You guys have memorized false history. Abiola won in Anambra even though he ran a muslim muslim ticket. Tofa was also a good candidate who had a balanced ticket -Sylvester Ugo a Christian was his running mate.
OBJ/ATiku. A balanced ticket got 95% from SE even though Ojukwu was on the ballot.
Yar’dua/GEJ a balanced ticket got 95% from SE even though GMB had selected Okadigbo as VP. Igbos voted for a better ticket against their kinsmen.

You guys voted for GMB because he selected Osibabjo.. then you guys are blaming GMB without taking accountability for plunging Naija into this mess.

Politics / Re: Peter Obi Makes U Turn on Production, Advocates Subsidy For Importers by BigIyanga: 7:49pm On Feb 21
BlueRayDick:
Some of u just lack comprehension and u are too proud to ask more knowledgeable people to break it down for u before u start running propaganda with what u don't understand . How did what u quoted as Peter Obi's comment on duty charges correlate with the misleading topic of this thread ?

For educational purposes , let me break it down for u.

When a manufacturer for example wants to import raw materials for production of goods and services ; they open Form M at the prevailing market rate at that time; leats say N1500/1$ . When the raw material gets to the country , the manufacturer will be required to pay customs duties in naira to Nigeria Customs. Now that's where the problem is cos the federal government through customs has increased the rate of customs duties several times arbitrarily in the last few months.

It's more like u already made provision for customs duties to be paid at N900/1$ and by the time ur cargo is in Nigeria ; FG thru customs has already jacked it up to N1050/1$. The manufacturer will have no other choice than to pay the duties at that rate , but he will pass that incremental cost down to me and u who are the final consumer of the product that eventually comes out of the factory .

That is why price of locally made goods keep increasing .

It's myopic to think every "importer" imports foreign made goods to sell. For ur information, almost all manufacturers import raw materials to use in the manufacture of their product and that's why Peter Obi is advising the government to tone down on the continued increase in dollar rate for customs duties or else prices of goods will keep going up .
Tankio. U dey mind them. This blind followership has really exposed how thick-skulled millions of Naiia folks are. Fuel import gulps 70% of our FX.. so these custom incessant channges will catch them.
Naija Banks and Financial services use a lot software/banking tools all billed in $£€… they are going to be affected.

Heavy and Industriwl goods like Construction equipment, trains, trucks/lorry, transformer, MRI/CT scan machines will be affected.

Pharmaceuticals/drugs/chemicals for manufacturing will be affected. Everything is politics to these minioms🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

Pemisire113:
Hey family, am glad to be here, am a 28 yrs old Nigerian lady with a great determination spirit. I couldn't attend a university to study a nursing degree which is my dream career but I attended a college of health with struggles due to financial incapability. I was raised by a mum who lost her husband at early stage. We are four am the third.

When I completed my secondary school i started working in a hospital as an hospital aid, I was able to raised some cash I proceeded to a college of health where i did a three years course and i graduated with flying colours.

I immediately moved to Lagos and start working in a hospital. I was able to raise some money that was in 2020. I did my pass port. I went online, I met some friends and i applied for a Dubai visa with the intention of getting there to do some care course, so I can work in care homes or hospital.

I got the visa. I traveled, i did the course i was able to get a caregiver job luckily for me with 2000 dhm salary. I was happy thinking my dream is gradually coming through i would able to save money, proceed with my nursing degree and take care of my mum, unfortunately for me, the issues of Nigerian cultists came up in UAE. They stopped all documentation for Nigerians, that was when the ban started. I waited a bit but nothing changed i had no choice than to come back to Nigeria in 2020. I quickly landed in Lagos and started applying to hospital all over again, i got a job again, salary was way below the offers i got in UAE, since then till now, i was able to raise 2M.

Now my people please advice me, which country can this amount take me to with flight tickets etc.

A country I can be able to work and may be further to earn a degree later.

Pls Advice me 🥺

Thank you sir /thank u ma

Be careful here ooh.. too many people would like to steal that ur meagre 2m here in the name of giving u faster and easier way/connect

Hard choice. Go back to uni in Naija and get a BSC in Nursing.. this will open a lot of opportunities for you-domestic and intl.

Soft choice. Keeping working in Naija to save more moneu. N2m now is not enough to buy flight

Which kain work visa… you be Soyinka or Stanley Nwabili with special skills? If not, student visa is ur easiest to get visa approved.

You’re right Nigerian government subsidizes nothing yet , we’re complaining fuel prices is almost #700, university students are complaining that school fees is 100+ from 21k
At some point Nigerian institutions pay 10k per session In the university and you complain nothing is subsidized while some private universities pay 300k -400k.

At some point a bag of cement was sold #800 now is 7k-8k if you built your house in that era government made it possible for you .

Nigeria have some terrible people, the worst are the educated ones with bitterness hidden underneath them , they spread falsehood.
At this point Nigerians will believe They was subsidy before.
You’re the most self-destructive follower .. a minion who believes that his master is OK to enslave him?
How are we subsidizing oil produced in our backyard ? because govts from Abacha and GMB as NPF felt that it was more lucrative to export crude oil for refining and then import for consumption. From Abacha to BAT, govts have spent $30-$40bn in trying to fix those refineries. All contracts awarded to their cronies.
Naija is the only country without public transport that is subsidized even though 95% of services, goods and people are moved by rd and fuel.

Talk about education, what is subsidized? Just Ghana has a working system for poor and bright students going into university.
Ghana has national insurance scheme that provides health coverage to its citizens
The worst form of Nigerians are the most insular folks who havent had their passports stamped SOA/SOD

The wealthy get it by hook or crook all over the world.

You want to use 24/7 power and want the government to keep subsidizing power undecided

The remaining 75% is part of the debt Nigeria have to repay in the future plus the money for subsidizing power while revenue from Crude Oil that's Nigeria cash cow decrease. If you have sense you will know that it is just a matter of time before it dry up when debts and subsidy in power, fuel , education etc piled up.

If you have sense, you would know that our money was used to build that project that iis 25% and we also guarantee the loan 100%. What do we get in return nothing. Is there like soveriegn trust fund where our 25% of profits would be paid into? But cronies/investors will take 100%. Just like Dangote Refinery where we invested like $4bn with no ROI and also sold him FX at discounted official rate. Naija govt distributes pains and losses to masses … but passes on profits and ownership to buddies and crony capitalists .

What does Naija govt subsidize for poor Nigerians? Nothing

https://www.thecable.ng/tinubu-well-raise-10bn-to-stabilise-naira-boost-fx-liquidity/amp

So they’ll borrow another $10bn to stabilize Naija. They had borrowed $3bn in Jan to stabilize .. and Naira has jumped. 200% .. from N650 to N2k. Our purchasing power has been eroded by 200% ..our net worth reduced by 200%? So what is the gain of floating Naira when we’re borrowing $13bn in his 8th month out 48 months to stabilize the naira..

Why was Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, the initial bidder, bypassed?
A biz front owned by rich oligarchs like Otedola, Elumelu, Dangote, Wale Tinubi etc with politrickians .. normal
Normal Naija runs of fattening the ultra wealthy… while starving the poor. FG provided 25% loan and guarantees the loan 100%… and tomorrow, they’ll tell you that to subsidize power for the masses is bankrupting the govt

Abi with all the success of Awolowo, how does a people that love voting the right people not even give Awo 5-10% of their votes?

I can mention 10 things Awo did off hand, I’m sure one will need to go back to read a whole encyclopedia to remember 2 things Azikiwe did for the Ibo people as premier.
Did Awolowo win that election? Nope. Shagatri/Ekwueme was a nationalist team with competent team. Awo came into that election..bruised and battered by his fights and rivalry with Akintola faction of Action Group. His incarceration and trials during those times had decimated some of his political power and followership. Yes, Igbos voted for a better candidate.
