They have started their medicine after death. They should arrest him to explain what really happened to Wigwe, Ike Ndi Isoko. His explanation for not boarding the same chopper doesn't make sense. Why would he travel by road as someone based in Nigeria with Wigwe? Imagine president Tinubbu going to America and his assistant, Ngelele, decides not to board the same chopper with him, instead chose to travel by road. Does that make sense? This is the problem with Igbo people, they over trust this people with innate tribalism.

This na US. Your feelings arent facts.. Police and FAA wont even consider him a suspect. His intuitions were right given that chopper travels arent that safe..and very risky at night.
From CA to Vegas by rd is 3hours.. while chopper only saved 1hr. A limo service or Uber limo would have been a better and safer option

Dude, I studied engineering in Nigeria and also did further studies in same Engineering in foreign schools.

I earn dollars and I have a Nigerian domiciliary account and foreign bank accounts in whatever country my multinational oil job takes me to.

I do not have any reason to complain about the terrible exchange rate as it is to the benefit of people like me.

That being said, Nigeria is very foolish to allow a poor country like itself be subsidising education and providing infrastructure for UK and US schools.

I know how much people like me cough out to pay a session fee abroad, when we have refused to pay a tithe of it in our own local education.

We need to stop the bleeding.

10yrs embargo on foreign education with funds earned in Nigeria, will only help our own economy and our education sector.

Anyone who wants to study abroad should find his/her way there and work and use monies from that economy to pay for the education they require.

UK ensures that the bulk of the money foreigners make in their economy, stays within their economy.

But we Nigerians that are opportune not to be suffering like the masses, are still pouring out the Nigerian funds into West.

The government need to wake up and employ commonsense but humane policies that will help turn the tide.

All I have said is for the love of my country. There is nothing to gain for me, as I would even be one of those to lose my advantage.

Make I accidentally get to power in Nigeria, una go know say Wike no wicked.

All those crying that they want change, they want reform, but in reality they are just unhappy they are the ones left out of a corrupt and loose system they still want to persist, na formatting I go dispense to everything and everyone.
So when u went to UK for MS studies.. you paid with Naira?

So FG subsidized your UK education?

So most Nigerians who buy $$ from black market to pay their school fees are being subsidized by govt??
Make it make sense for me?

The next step is to outlaw forex processing for foreign education for a minimum of 10yrs.

Any Nigerian that wants to be educated abroad should look for the money abroad.

We have schools here that can take those huge amounts of Naira we employ to buy forex for UK or American or Canadian education.

We need to jump-start our tertiary education system with better infrastructure, improved quality of education, improved salaries, and improved school fees.

Tough times require tough measures.

Ejiotic policy. Foreign graduates are the backbone of Naija FX.. they make good 💰£€ when they graduate and send a lot $€£ to Naija. Naija diasporans send more FX to Naija than our annual budget.. dont be hating from outside tje club when you cant get in lol

Politics / Re: Again, CBN Raises Import Duty Rate By Another 4.4% In 24 Hours by BigIyanga: 8:45pm On Feb 03
DeLaRue:

You think so, but that's not the reality.

There is a pain point at which demand for many imported goods will fall fast. People will simply start buying less and less of them. Whether that pain point is at N1500, N1800, or N2000 to a dollar, I don't know.

But the CBN will have the data. They know. If N1500 doesn't stiffle imports to the level they want, I suspect the CBN will not mind seeing naira close to N2,000 to a dollar.

In some ways, it is to the credit of Mr Tinubu's administration that it is willing to follow this extremely tough path to redirect the economy from import-dependence to greater local production. For a politician facing election in just over 3 years to follow a path that may not show positive results for a few years, is truly brave.

The Nigerian economy was heading for the rocks after over 40 years of mismanagement. Tough decisions are needed to correct long term over dependence on imports.

That naira/dollar pain point is the point at which local production of certain goods starts becoming more viable than importing the same goods. This should translate to us producing more of what we need locally. This will lead to more job creation, less pressure on the naira, and a stronger, more balanced economy in the long term.

But this approach comes with a lot of economic pain initially, as the country is witnessing now.

That's the theory o.

Whether things happen in practice like I stated above is a different matter, because Nigeria's situation often defy economic theory.

Epistle without data. You used Chinko phones, laptop to type this. How soon is Naija going to make phones, routers, transmitters and laptops?
How soon is Naija going to make transformers to have 24/7 electricity in order to start manufacturing?

How about telling your president to stay in Naija for medical treatment instead of spending $£€ in EU for treatment.

Do you know the role of comparative and absolute advantage in foreign trade??

If the government have no money to subsidize the naira and subsidize fuel subsidy, where do you want them to get the money from?

Should we keep borrowing dollars and paying high interest rate just because we need to defend the naira "artificially" from its true value? We are talking of billions of dollars. Which politician is stealing billions of dollars?
Arent we borrowing now without subsidy and FX floatation? U dey play., but we are borrowing to fund recurrent expenditure and chopping money for politrickians… una dey play

So what solution do you suggest to defend the naira?

Perhaps you prefer that we keep defending the naira with Tens of Billions of US Dollars which we do not have?

Why should we borrow money from China so we can subsidize the lifestyle of a few rich Nigerians that want the US dollars?

Folks like you only think about fictional savings… Not floating Naira had saved millions of Naija jobs and families. Now the cost of fuel has gone 500%. Cost of food went up 500% . Cost of drugs has gone up 800%… everthing went up by 500-1000%… but minimum wage is still N36k? So Naija workers have been robbed… and politrickians are enjoying their savings

Since you finished high school since 2000, you would need to clearly explain what you have been doing in a clear and concise way.
It would also be useful if what you’re currently doing, ie that job pays you N350k, is tied to your academic pursuit.

Reconsidering the Call to Japa: A Counter Perspective
Rejoinder to 11 Reasons Why You Must Japa From Nigeria
https://www.nairaland.com/7936687/11-reasons-why-must-japa#127418405

The recent post enumerating 11 reasons to encourage individuals to "Japa" from Nigeria presents a one-sided view of the situation. While acknowledging the challenges facing the nation, it is essential to consider a more balanced perspective before making such a life-altering decision. Below are my counterarguments to the points presented:

1. Diverse Futures in Nigeria:
The assertion that the future in Nigeria is uniformly bleak oversimplifies the complexity of the nation. Nigeria has a diverse and growing economy, with numerous success stories in various sectors. By actively participating in and contributing to the local economy, individuals can positively impact their own and their families' futures.

2. Access to Quality Life in Nigeria:
Nigeria does face challenges, but it also offers opportunities for a quality life. Investments in education, healthcare, and security are underway, and many individuals are successfully navigating these systems. Emigrating is not the only path to a fulfilling life.

3. Poverty Beyond Borders:
Generalizing that everyone who leaves Nigeria escapes poverty oversimplifies the multifaceted nature of economic challenges. Many Nigerians living abroad face their own financial struggles, and success is not guaranteed solely by leaving the country.

4. Life and Spiritual Fulfillment:
Suggesting that all life and spiritual problems end upon leaving Nigeria oversimplifies the human experience. People's beliefs and challenges vary, and attributing them solely to nationality is reductionist.

5. Prosperity Through Hard Work:
Success is not exclusive to geographical location. Hard work can lead to prosperity in any part of the world. Painting Nigeria as a place where success is only luck undermines the efforts of many hardworking individuals in the country.

6. Japa as Paradise:
Romanticizing emigration as paradise oversimplifies the challenges faced by immigrants in adapting to new environments. Success abroad often requires significant effort, resilience, and adaptation.

7. Trending vs. Critical Decision:
Making life-altering decisions based on trends may not be the most prudent approach. Trends are transient, and considering individual circumstances and goals is crucial in making such a significant decision.

8. Individual Paths and Success:
Labeling those who stay in Nigeria as failures oversimplifies success and happiness. Many individuals find fulfillment and success by contributing to the development of their home country.

9. Due Diligence and Informed Choices:
Ignoring due diligence when deciding to emigrate is risky. Thorough research and understanding of the destination country are essential to make informed decisions that align with personal goals and values.

10. Remaining Population in Nigeria:
Exaggerating the number of people who have emigrated may not accurately represent the current situation. Many Nigerians choose to stay and contribute positively to the nation's growth.

11. Life Expectancy and Mortality Rates:
Associating life expectancy solely with geographical location oversimplifies the factors influencing mortality rates. Health, lifestyle, and access to healthcare are significant contributors that vary globally. There locals who still live above 80 years.

In conclusion, the decision to emigrate is deeply personal and should be based on a comprehensive understanding of individual goals, circumstances, and the evolving landscape of the home country. Painting an entire nation with a broad brush may not capture the diverse experiences and opportunities available within it.

Whole epistle without stats, data and empirical evidence to support your claims.. you go explain taya Lol
