He got it wrong by marrying a liability as a wife. That’s a reasonable income for a man whose wife earns half of that.
I think u are jumping into hasty conclusions here. The guy didn't mention if his wife was a liability by or not.

I hope you know there are instances where a man marries a woman and asks her not to work because he feels the jobs available may not be worth the stress and he wants her to take care of the kids instead? For example the wife may be a primary school teacher who earns 50k per month and then the husband asks her to stop because he believes he earns well only for the economy to change and the husband realizes his income is no longer enough for the family.

Let's not just conclude he married a liability when he didn't mention anything of sort in his post.

I said on this same thread that I plan to do a vasectomy after one or two kids, and they turned on me like I committed a crime. Even before Buhari entered office, I never liked the idea of having many children. One or two is enough for me.
After that, I know I can’t rely on CD forever, and I also don’t want my woman’s body going through unnecessary changes because of family planning, which seems like selfishness to me. Vasectomy makes the most sense for both parties.
I’ve noticed a lot of Africans are obsessed with having plenty kids like it’s a competition. That mindset isn’t for me sha.
Ridding urself of the ability to reproduce is an extreme measure most Africans including myself will not subscribe to o. Anything can happen after you do the surgical procedure.

Talking about family planning, what kind of changes do you think can happen to your woman? Let me guess; she can get fat right ? What makes u think she won't get fat even after just one child? grin

Me thinks even 3 kids is aseju in this economy, and the perfect number for his income bracket is two.

The economy ain't smiling and everything don quadruple in price. Creche/school fees, food, clothes, rent, healthcare, transportion, cutility bills, groceries, school books.....you name it.

So people gats align their family size with their pockets for peace of mind, financial stability and ability to invest QUALITATIVELY in their kids future, and not just drag them along.

Also, people gats abandon that shit of "make we try once more for a particular gender" cos it doesn't end well most times, and don make many couples born pass wetin dem fit handle.

Once una get your desired number of kids, just lock up no matter their gender. And in locking up;

No do withdrawal method❌
No do safe period method❌
No go dey drink neem oil❌

Cos all of dem dey fail.

Visit a proper clinic or health care facility, and adopt a proper birth control/,family planning method guided by a professional.

Make I rest my fingers for now.
I agree withe everything you've said here. People need to learn to appreciate kids as being gift of God to them irrespective of their gender.

Most people give birth to number of kids more than they can comfortably take care of because they are looking for a certain gender.

Some would cling on to archaic customs and traditional beliefs that if they don't have male kids then they don't have an heir that will take after them. This will keep pushing them to keep trying. Some also allow their parents and relatives' wants/desires to override how they want to plan their lives. I've seen a case where the husband's mother keeps encouraging her daughter-in-law to have try for a girl child because the woman only had sons and she now wants a daughter through her son's wife.

Yeah. Back then I knew few lecturers who did it, I think the money is taken from their salary directly. I don't really remember much, but it seemed like the school authorities were the ones overseeing the cooperative. So, you can't possibly default unless FG doesn't pay salaries.
That means they have an arrangement similar to what teachers in government school have.

I know when I was in secondary school our teachers belonged to cooperatives in which they crowd-fund to get food items and home appliances in bulk at wholesale prices.

Somebody shared the paylsip of a professor (CONUASS 7) on Twitter. He said Tinubu added 40k to this from what it was in 2023 which the payslip was dated(allegedly o, I don't know how true that is)

I am tempted to ask : All those professors wey dey use big SUVs, where dem dey see money buy am?

I can understand professors in professional courses like Medicine, engineering, law, etc engaging in private practise which can fetch them good income that will supplement whatever they earn from the university system, but what about professors in fields like Languages, Religious studies , history, library studies, etc?

In Nigeria, if you’re not popping out kids like rabbits, people think something’s wrong with you. My big bro has been married for over 11 years, has one child, well-educated, doing well, yet relatives still talk trash behind his back like he’s defective. All because he chose to be intentional about parenthood. I'm literally the only one in the entire family who gets him. Truth is, most Nigerians hate structure and planning. They treat kids like furniture, just keep having them without thinking about the future. It’s madness masked as culture.
In this present day and with what is going on with our economy, it makes no sense having more than 3 kids except u are comfortably rich.....

I mean if u have plans for Ur kids to attend good private schools at primary and secondary school level ; and a good private uni like Covenant, Babcock etc to avoid ASUU strike ; then having as much as 4 kids is not advisable at all.

Your bro is a wise man who knows what he is doing. I'm sure some of those people talking trash behind his back would always call on him for financial assistance for their own nuclear family needs. Yet, they still won't see that he's only able to render helping hand because his responsibilities on childcare is minimal.

I think having 4 kids at age 32 inside this economy is a whole lot.

If he were to be over 40 years of age, I would want to understand that he probably had all 4 kids before the last 6 years which was Buhari's second term + Tinubu's first 2 years. One can cut him some slack that he never saw this coming.

I don't see why anybody should be having more than 3 kids with that kind of income in this current economy if such person wants to really have savings o. This one no be matter of " I love kids"

The fact that someone as informed as you is asking this important question is an indictment on the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission. Information like this should already be public with widespread reach, so people can plan accordingly.
I remember reading the news in April when they announced date for the Election, but I didn't see anywhere in the news where they mentioned whether there will be restriction of movement.

This last weekend I saw them holding rallies/campaign in different parts of the state yet, till now I'm not sure if they would restrict movement.

Like you rightly said, one needs these information to plan one's movement. For example I have an appointment this Saturday and I'm already thinking of cancelling because of the uncertainty surrounding restriction of movement.

As someone in the system, I can confirm that it's true....and it's not just academic staff of universities but staff of all Federal Tertiary Educational Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education).

And this shit of delayed salaries began last year October when the FTEIs were migrated from IPPIS to GIFMIS salary platform.

My institution's Bursar released a memo on the issue and blamed FG for the delay. According to the memo, lack of cash backing from the Office of the Accountant General is the reason for the delayed salary.

◾Wage award we no see.
◾EAA still dey hang.
◾2023 arrears of 25/35% increment, yet to drop.
,◾Monthly salary wey we dey take hold body, delayed.

Sometimes, I dey feel like some of PBATs appointees dey deliberately sabotage hin government. Surely, it can't be that difficult to process and pay salaries timely. Also, PBAT needs to exercise better oversight over his appointees because the buck stops at his table, and na hin dem go blame for failures like this.

Me. I for no too worry if no be say I carry funds go register my last born to begin school in September, and paid first term schl fees of hin elder bro & sis. Also bought a new battery for the car and did some maintenance so account don red.

Anyways, hats of to all men cos na grit and grace many of us dey take run this life.

Edit: The salary alert don dey enter but e never reach my side.
I don't think I can ever work for government in Nigeria sha. I so much hate the way government would just delay their salaries and there won't be any reasonable explanation. I have always detested inconsistent payday right from NYSC days.

If u are in the private sector, u would be so much used to getting ur salary on the fixed date. The date would've already been stated in ur employees' handbook and if that date falls on a weekend u will sure get ur salary earlier than usual because they will adopt the last working date before the weekend as payment day for such month.

At least thank God the University unions threatened strike and the FG quickly responded by paying on the 8th.

https://www.nigeriainfo.fm/news/homepage/ASUU-directs-nationwide-strike-over-delayed-june-salaries-enforces-no-pay-no-work-policy/

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has begun a nationwide strike action following the non-payment of June 2025 salaries to its members.

The union has instructed all branches across federal universities to withdraw their services in line with its "No Pay, No Work" policy.

ASUU President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, confirmed the development in Abuja on Monday, stating that the action is based on a resolution by the union’s National Executive Council (NEC). According to him, NEC had agreed that lecturers would down tools if salaries are delayed beyond three days after the end of the month.

Branches at the University of Jos and University of Abuja have already commenced the strike.

Prof. Piwuna criticised the government’s "lackadaisical attitude" towards university lecturers, who he said are already struggling with inadequate pay. He blamed the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation for the salary delays and said despite previous meetings with top officials including the Minister of Education, no action has been taken to address the issue.

Since the migration from IPPIS to GIFMIS, ASUU says its members have faced persistent delays, although the payment platform itself has posed no technical problems.

“We are tired of talking about this,” Piwuna said. “We want to work, but they have not allowed us to.”

He also warned of fresh agitation if the remaining ₦10 billion from the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) is not paid. The government had pledged ₦50 billion but only disbursed ₦40 billion.

ASUU maintains that the strike will continue at any university where salaries remain unpaid.

The United States Mission in Nigeria has announced that all applicants for F, M, and J nonimmigrant visas must now adjust their social media account’s privacy settings to “public.”

F, M, and J visas are nonimmigrant visa categories issued by the US government for individuals coming to the country for educational and exchange purposes.

The mission stated that applicants in those categories must now set their personal social media profiles to public, as part of a new visa requirement.

The development was announced via the United States Diplomatic Mission Nigeria’s official X page on Monday, noting the update was effective immediately.

“Effective immediately, all individuals applying for an F, M, or J nonimmigrant visa are requested to adjust the privacy settings on all of their personal social media accounts to ‘public,’” the post read.

According to the post, the change is meant to complement vetting efforts aimed at determining applicants’ identities and their admissibility to the United States.

“We use all available information in our visa screening and vetting to identify visa applicants who are inadmissible to the United States, including those who pose a threat to US national security,” the post said.

The US, while earlier announcing the plan for the update in June, maintained that its visa “is a privilege, not a right.”

On June 18, 2025, the US Department of State published on its website that under the new guidance, “we will conduct a comprehensive and thorough vetting, including online presence, of all student and exchange visitor applicants in the F, M, and J nonimmigrant classifications.”

“To facilitate this vetting, all applicants for F, M, and J nonimmigrant visas will be instructed to adjust the privacy settings on all of their social media profiles to ‘public.’”

The statement added, “Every visa adjudication is a national security decision.

“The United States must be vigilant during the visa-issuance process to ensure that those applying for admission into the United States do not intend to harm Americans and our national interests and that all applicants credibly establish their eligibility for the visa sought, including that they intend to engage in activities consistent with the terms for their admission.”
https://punchng.com/us-embassy-begins-screening-nigerian-students-social-media-accounts/

To the terrorist sympathizers online; Winter came for you early. The US says for you to get student visa or visa to visit on exchange programs u must provide details of your social media account which will be thoroughly vetted before you visa is considered for approval.

If u like continue dey celebrate Houthis, Hamas, Hezbollah and their likes via your social media handle. Some of u, na when una climb career ladder where ur employers send u abroad for a course una go cry blood.

Their loans are not cheap at all; they only lure unsuspecting people into those loans making them believe they offer the best non-collaterized loan.
