greatiyk4u: You are saying rubbish. You cannot even generalize the results conducted in a single LGA to the population of the state, not to mention to a tribe that cuts across six states. In research, there is something we call representative sample. It is a sample that is representative of the population of interest. You want to check the average weight of babies in Ondo state, you now check records of babies' weight in hospitals in just one LGA in Ondo state, and you think you can generalize that result to the population of babies in Ondo state. |

greatiyk4u: Just one LGA, and it changed your narrative about Yorubas being more educated. Your alma mater needs to publicly deny you o. Haba. You use one LGA to form an impression about the Yoruba people. |

goodnessme1: He is studying for a PhD in Islamic history. That is why he is studying the role Islamic teaching played in preventing the spread of Christianity in Northern Nigeria between 1900-1960. It is like someone studying church history working on a dissertation titled "How Christianity in Medieval Europe was inimical to the spread of Islam in Northern Ireland" or something like that. I have read almost all the comments on this thread and I am so disappointed. Many of you claim to be graduates, but when you open your mouth or make a post, you create doubts. |

Konjiboii: First of all, no betting site in Nigeria has a payout as huge as 280 million naira. I believe the maximum payout of any betting site in Nigeria is 50 million naira. Secondly, if he claimed that he threw the slip away, the police can ask for records of a huge win from the betting site. Lying to the police is a criminal offense. So, he would be worsening his case the more. |

OneTemplate: It is not a Nigerian thing. Anyone would face some levels of temptation if they found such huge amount of money on a platter of gold. One woman in UK got 10 years after going on a spending spree when 17000 pounds was paid into her account in error. |
Business / Re: Kwara POS Operator Lavishes N280m Received In Error by BluntTheApostle(m): 1:57pm On Apr 19, 2023 |
Konjiboii: 280 million through which betting site in Nigeria? Moreover, the judge would ask him to provide the bet slip or the lotto ticket. There was a case I followed concerning this matter. It happened in the UK. A woman received double her salary. She honestly didn't know that it was paid in error. She started spending it. The police arrested her using the theft act. The woman said her employer had told her to expect a pay increase, and so she thought that was the pay increase. She won the case because she had proof that she did not know that money was paid in error into her account. They actually allowed her to keep the money as her own. The loss was the bank's. So, don't think any lie will fly. Your lie must be credible to win you the case. Otherwise, it is a prison sentence. |

9jaBloke: You people are messing up the concept of dating. Even if the OP had ulterior motives, you could deduce from the chat that he came across as wanting something more than sex. At the tail end of the chat, he told the girl to at least let them get to know each other before she starts demanding. There is nothing wrong with giving anyone (boy or girl) tfare. But the idea that some girls have about "coming over" is a red flag. It is either you really truly want to come or you want to come because you believe you are doing the guy a favour by coming. The girl in this OP believes that her coming over means she is doing the guy a favour that is why she requested money for "thank you for coming". I can never roll with such a girl even if I am richer than Dangote. It is a red flag, and not even if she has a big ass (I am an ass man) would get myself entangled with it. No! The concept of dating is for two people to spend time together to get to know each other better. No one is doing the other a favour. If you don't have money to come, say so. " I would really like to come, but I am broke". Or let the guy make the offer. "Thank you for coming" money is a red flag for me. 10 Likes 1 Share |

AssCraver: Neither your Adichie or her family would get to the point in Literature where Wole Soyinka got to. That is the point. Soyinka has honorary doctorates from Harvard and Oxford, the two best universities in the world. In fact, he taught in both universities. Your Adichie does not even have an intern role in UNN, not to mention lecturing in a university. Your Achebe could only lecture in a college, Bard College. Yet, you all open your stinky mouths to abuse Soyinka. 1 Like 1 Share |

Politics / Re: Benjamin Mayor: Biden To Respond To Chimamanda Letter After Easter Break. by BluntTheApostle(m): 9:12am On Apr 10, 2023 |
Nwaetche: The United States is battling job losses, over 50% inflation rate and a weakening Dollar. They also have something close to a cold war with Russia and China at the moment. So, you think they would even want to mess with their biggest trading partner in Africa because of one Adichie? First of all, this subject of Adichie's grievance is not even new to Biden, having had to endure accusations of electoral manipulations from Trump and his loudmouthed followers, including Biafrans who supported Trump both home and abroad. Biden understands what it means to be a bitter loser. He might of course, as a matter of politeness, pretend to be interested, but don't even expect Congress to debate on our election when they have nuclear war threats to deal with. The US, right now, wants as much ally as is possible, which is why they have been warming up to Iran. Their worsening relations with Saudi Arabia and India is already enough headache. To add Nigeria (Africa's largest economy and a major oil producing nation) to their list of potential enemies would never auger well with them. They know it would be in the American best interest never to worsen relations with Nigeria by appearing to dabble into our internal affairs. |

I am not going to pass any judgement. The only fact available right now is that the man she was with is INNOCENT until proven otherwise. The only problem is that his move was suspicious. First of all, it must be considered that he booked the room. He was the renter. He was responsible for that room. Why did he check out while his guest was still inside the room? Why did the hotel let him check out that way? I want to believe that the hotel management also has a case to answer. 1 Like |

PDJT: I would gladly educate you for free concerning the cultism area. Soyinka co-founded a confraternity. So, what is a confraternity, you might ask. A confraternity, according to definitions from Oxford Languages is a brotherhood, especially with a religious or charitable purpose. Examples of confraternities with religious purposes are churches such as the Roman Catholic Church, RCCG, and others; and branches of Islam such as Sunni and Shias. What Soyinka cofounded was a brotherhood with a charitable cause. You would find confraternities in different universities of the world. A popular confraternity in the United States is the Pi Kappa Alpha created in 1868. Another famous confraternity in the United States is the Phi Kappa Psi founded in 1852 in Jefferson College. Former American president, Woodrow Wilson was a member. I guess you would call him a cultist. Anyway, now to more education for you. How did confraternities in Nigeria become violent? Like I mentioned earlier, Soyinka cofounded a confraternity. Like every confraternity in the world, it was driven by some ideologies. In the case of the Pyrates, it was driven by a political ideology. The Buccaneers split from the Pyrates. Then we had the New Black Movement and some others. All these confraternities were driven by political ideologies. The Mafia style which governs cultism today did not exist then. Then, the military came and began to fund some members of these confraternities to fight off political opponents. That is why you have violent cults till today. And if you must know, the Pyrates is still in existence with powerful and notable members, including the Nobel Prize winner, Wole Soyinka, just as American confraternities have powerful members across every spheres of life. Wole Soyinka cofounded a confraternity. A brotherhood for charitable causes just like Oyedepo founded Winners Chapel for religious causes. Wole Soyinka is not to blame for cultism in Nigeria. |

Ofunaofu: You mentioned handouts, and I said handouts don't undermine sovereignty. The concept of sovereignty is the same for individuals, unions, and states. In fact, there is consumer sovereignty. Getting handouts from the United States does not mean Biden or Congress can impose any form of government on Nigeria. |

PDJT: First of all, you can't compare the Nobel Peace Prize to the Nobel Prize in Literature. The process for determining the winner is different for both Prizes. For the Peace Prize, intellectual effort is not needed. That is why it is the most controversial of the awards. As for the Economics prize, which winners caused an economic crash? Give us their names and tell us how they caused the economic crash of 2008. I am waiting patiently. 1 Like |
