Hello everyone. Please I have a question that needs urgent answers.

So my sister has admission from New Brunswick Community College, her resumption is suppose to be for Sept 4th. Her Visa just came out yésterday(she applied since April/May), and same yesterday while trying to submit her visa to the school as requested, she found out that her school has cancelled her admission, they said the deadline for submission of student visa has passed. She has sent countless emails explaining the situation of things, as the visa delay was not her fault but the embassy, the school insisted and said thats their final decision, that there is nothing they can do, her admission has been cancelled, and they are saying she should either wait till next year september for the next resumption or request for a refund of her tuition fee. She is very sad about this outcome

Please is there anyone that has experienced this kind of thing or can advice on what she can do for the school to change their stance and grant her admission back.

https://nbcc.ca/admissions/international-applicants-with-valid-study-permit

She can check this out.

Hello gurus in the house,

I need help ASAP!!!

I am having issues paying for my study permit application.
Since the fee (for study permit and biometric) is $CAD235 equivalent to $USD178 and I have $USD 185 in my dollar card, I thought I should be able to pay without stress using my GTB dollar card. Yet the transaction was declined. (See screenshot below)

What's the way forward please?

Top up your card to around 200USD.

Any assistance pls! My agent is still saying he can't access my portal since yesterday and there is a message for me. Which was sent since 14th March, a day after I did biometric. I'm suspecting is a medical request.
But the agent is still telling me he can't access it since yesterday afternoon that the server is busy.
Please I don't even know what to do again. I am just tired of everything. Any form of assistance I need please .

Your agent is not being truthful with you. Nothing is wrong with logging in into the portal. What kind of POF deal did your agent arrange for you? It's either a medical request or a procedural fairness letter (a letter that almost always precedes a ban due to misrepresentation.) Your agent is intentionally telling you he can't login for sinister reasons. If you can find a way to extract your login details out of him, the better for you.

Good morning everyone

I need advice plsssss

I'm a graduate of sociology with a CGPA of 3.3/5 in 2021. I've been learning Data analysis for more than a year now.

I wish to go for an IT related course for PGD but I can't seem to find one due to my GPA and my first degree.
I don't know if Research courses can go since it's related to both data and sociology.

I'm only a classroom teacher who earn 30k every month. My brothers and I have decided to sell one of my father's around property which is around 15m to sponsor my education.
My father's younger brother too wants to stand as a sponsor because he has money and bears same surname with me.

I also have a daughter of 16years, who's writing WAEC this year, and I want her to go with me.

I've been seeing documents and documents here and I don't have all that, where do I start from getting those documents?

Thanks

Pick a cheap college. Choose a course that relates to data analysis. Since you'd be selling off a property, get a document that shows that. Your daughter might not be able to go with you now though.

Gigdraft is very correct in the sense that the poster said he has been sending to many supervisor and not even one person replied. The guy tone showed he is even fed up of sending. Gigdraft was only suggesting he have create time to gather knowledge of the supervisors' work. Which I see nothing wrong in that. I didn't get my 3 assistantship by luck. I worked for it and I got response from majority of those I mailed. As I said, one woman even recommended me to another -professor because she loves my work and experience

I understand you now. Taking time to draft a cold mail is more important than sending something close to a generic mail. I've gotten a 40%+ response rate from my mails so far. Not positive ones but admixture of 'I am not taking any trainees' to 'You don't have the skills I need for this project' to a conversation that broke down on funding rate (the PI wanted a PhD student while I'm going for Msc). I'm sure you didn't get responses from everyone you mailed too. I'm assuming you sent loads of mail before you got your breakthrough moments. Persistence, learning, work, timing, LUCK, and other things come to play.

This is the issue I have noticed here

Mr A: The car is color red

Mr B says: You are giving false information.

Mr C: Mr B is right. The car is a vehicle that has engine

Mr A: But I didn't say the car doesn't have engine kiss

You people should stop attacking each other. Instead, provide your own view

LOL. Apologies if it felt like an attack from my end but honestly, it's not. In fact, I started following the conversation because I was looking for salient points that can help me improve my mail. Everybody can present their points without making it look/sound like they're trying to bin the other person's idea or opinion.

Let me ask, where did I say it is dependent on only the quality of your email? If you cannot show me this and quote that part, then I am done with you

I think it's implied from your original message backing Gidigraft that something could be wrong with the mails the person has been sending. I'm not here to argue what's right or wrong as I'm currently sending mails out myself. In the end, enlightenment is key.

If the original poster can ask people to review his/her mail, that'd be nice. I've had people review most of the mails I've sent and I've gotten green light from PhD students and postdoc to hit the send button but I don't get responses from the PI I send those mails to. Like I said, I feel it's implied meaning based on your response supporting Gidigraft and Quinex tried to give a contrasting yet plausible explanation as to what could be happening.

Better go back and read my reply before saying what I didn't say. You people are just countering yourselves up and down. It's like you are all battling for who knows better than the other. Mr A will counter Mr B. Mr B will attack another person. Is this thread a marketplace or where we lift each other up? You didn't even read my comment before quoting me. What's all this? Lol

I told the woman that supervisors will not always ignore your email because they don't need students. And they'll most likely not respond if you don't have knowledge of their current research as Gigdraft said. And I used my case as an example. I am saying it again. If you know nothing about a supervisor's work, they will most likely not reply because you will sound so annoying . And I don't think you are qualified to argue with me if you are not doing a PhD program here. Not bragging. Just saying I can't be arguing what I am certain of

Nobody should quote me again because I am not ready for this negativity. I am too busy for that

It's possible to have a strong grasp of a PI's work, have relevant experience and skills, mention their interesting papers, attach a research proposal and still not get a response from the person. That's why people have to send lots and lots of mails before making headway. Silence to a cold mail is not dependent on the quality of the mail alone. There's the PI factor too. Some don't even get to see your mail until you send a reminder as the mail might be buried in the tons of mail in their mailbox. Many factors contribute to the silence or rejections and it's not entirely on the quality of the mail like you've opined.

The bolded shows you no nothing about what you're talking about. You got one but I got 3, so guess who knows better. And I doubt you are here. Are you even in Canada?

I don't think she's entirely wrong. Some people I've written to didn't bother to get back to me while some were nice enough to acknowledge my interests and academic achievements but mentioned that there's no space in their research group. A PI mentioned on Twitter that she doesn't pay attention to graduate inquiries from students when her lab is full as she cannot reply everyone that asks for an Msc/PhD position in her lab.

It's very hard to get even a 50% response rate from all the mails you send these days. Grad school is becoming more competitive (as it's becoming the cheapest alternative for relocation purposes.) Irrespective of how good your mail is, if a PI is not looking for a new student, the best he can do is get back to you that he's not looking for new trainees. Majority of them will just ignore and move on.

You can start now if you want to, but let there be an emphasis of FALL 2023 in your Cold Mail contents and in your mail subject.

And if a Prof. respond , it's your duty to have at least a monthly communication with that Prof. against Fall 2023 so he/she won't forget you, cos you are not the only person that will be cold mailing him/her.

You can also wait till July, August, September , October 2022 before you start your cold mailing journey.

The choice is yours...

Note
Always send your cold mail, 2pm Nigerian time, that's their 9am in Canada

Good luck!!!

Thank you very much! I guess I'll just chill till July/August then.

Good morning all, for those who are planning ahead for Fall 2023, you may want to put schools in Quebec in your plan... Here is why:

Quèbec government to reduce international tuition fees from CAD20k to 3k/yr (domestic rate) starting Sept 2023

Eligible fields:

IT
Engineering
Health & social services
Education(early childhood edu)

Gonna be a game changer for int’l students.

This is a developing story, but I'm sure they are not like Naija government, they always do what they say....

It has started already in some schools. It's a form of entrance scholarship. I think someone here got it but was denied visa probably due to how she explained it in her SOP. I noticed it on Concordia's website.

I totally agree, no hype no pump, these use case shit are bullshit, at least for stocks the company fundamentals comes into play for Crypto na either semi gambling or Big Ponzi, you get in early then you're lucky( only if you take profit) you get in late then you'll be slaughtered.

A man I know invested over $100k in Luna at $86 Baba dey hospital like this o, he worked so hard for his money he only was looking for 10-20%

For real. Most of the coins in top 10 now will not be there in the next couple of years when their hype is over. A newer coin will come offering "supreme tokenomics" to get the attention and trust of people. Same cycle. Buy, gain, take profit and move on.

Dead coins.

FTM.
LUNA.
ICP.

In the end, Crypto is built on hype and nothing more. Forget all that use case and technology behind it talk. It's all hype. If your coin is the talk, it pumps. When the talk is over, that's all.

The interesting thing is that LUNA might never make it past $30 again. After this dump and there's a pump in the crypto space, it'll be hard for people to "trust" LUNA enough to invest money in it.

Hi guys! Guess who's in Canada!! grin

LANDING GIST!!!! BRACE YOURSELF tongue

So my trip was Lagos - Vancouver via Ethiopian Airline by 1:40pm wasn't a smooth one, but I thank God..

Arrived the airport very early, but the queue at the airport no be here! Airport was crowded, scattered, nothing was orderly at the Airport. After waiting for almost 1hour on the queue, one devilish immigration officer eventually told me to join a wrong line, and I lost my spot, and had to go back to the queue again! I almost comot my boxer swear for this guy! angry

He just kept apologising, that's what calmed me down sha.
Got to Ethiopian Airline/Naija Immigration checks, was sha asked for my Passport, Acceptance Letter, Arrive Can, Vaccination Card, Covid-19 TEST PCR (which I eventually did, cause I just didn't want any issue and problems.) they told a Chinese lady there to go get a Covid-19 Test and I'm sure she missed the flight, and that was all.

Going through checks to board my flight, begging and taxing everywhere at Naija Immigration, I no give anyone 10kobo, cause no be their papa gimme money I use apply for Visa or pay any of my expenses, my check-in bags were searched and unfortunately, those wicked Naija Immigration seized my body lotion, body and anti persperants deodorants was 3, like 5 hair cream, everything seized was worth almost 15K. (I eventually found out, I wasn't meant to check in those kinda stuffs) Guys please learn from me. Don't check in with those sorta stuffs, they should be included inside your boxes. Begged and begged this woman, she no gree, gave me the option of taking it back to my fam outside, family wey don begin dey go house, or trashing it there( which kine mumu trash? Na them go use am, BASTARDDDSSS) I eventually found out na money she dey find, but unfortunately, I didn't have cash with me. Gave out all my naira. Dem no born me well give am $100 notes cause na only wetin I carry be that.

Eventually I was the 2nd to the last person to board on the plane. Almost missed the flight. Was running like a FOOL! Immediately I boarded, wasn't up to 8mins, we took off . ENROUTE >>>>>>>ADDIS ABABA (5hours 20mins)

Congrats, Chief! I've been anticipating this.
