Bro, the thing baffles me o. Everywhere you go in Nigeria and on the Nigerian cyberspace, one is inundated with tales of staph causing UTI and being an STD.

I have a strong feeling that there's another name for the ailment that people in Nigeria term staph infection.

I totally agree with you, it has got to be a different infection; unless the type of staph aureus we have in Nigeria is different from those in America, Europe, etc

Let's wait for doctors, lab technicians, etc to air their view

chukel:
lol at the emboldened. Again I repeat. Staph will not give you penile discharge. The lab you use matters a lot. I have seen labs that churn out results without running tests. There are culture media for culturing samples. The medium for gonorrhea is different from that of chlamydia, different from that of streptococcus different from that of e.coli, different from staph, different from pseudo monas etc. Now most cheap labs only have cheap media that only culture e.coli, staph. So if u go to the lab with a sample of your urethral swab for culture(let's assume me you have penile discharge) and in the actual sense what you have is gonorrhea, they can never give u a result of gonorrhea cos they didn't culture ur sample on a medium that allows growth of gonorrhea. Also note that staph inhabits the nose of almost all individuals. . Now tell me how many of the cheap labs have lab scientists who pit on nose mask while working. Their working environment is not even sterile. What I'm saying in essence is that different organisms have different culture media that support their growth. So if you go to a place that doesn't have a variety of these media, u can't get a reliable result.

This seems similar to the results of my research so far. I think we have a different infection and think its staph.

Can you check the last thread topic i created and see if you have comments.

Thanks

Abstract
One hundred twenty-seven episodes of Staphylococcus aureus bacteriuria were reviewed retrospectively in two hospitals to establish the rate of occurrence, clinical importance, and associated predisposing factors. Staphylococcus aureus was an infrequent urinary isolate, and accounted for only about 1% of all positive urine cultures.

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/article-abstract/588962

The above research paper concluded that Staph Aureus accounted for only 1% of all positive urine cultures.. But in my country, virtually all urine cultures reveal a staph aureus infection.

Health / Staphylococcus Aureus: Are We Really Diagnosing The Correct Bacteria In Nigeria? by braveheart77: 4:43pm On Sep 19, 2020
Are we really diagnosing the correct UTI in Nigeria labs? Why is 90% of infections found in a urine mcs Staphylocoocus?

From my research, staph is rarely a UTI but rather a skin infection and it can be found in the nose and skins of normal healthy individials.

Here's an extract from MayoClinic:

"Staph infections are caused by staphylococcus bacteria, types of germs commonly found on the skin or in the nose of even healthy individuals. Most of the time, these bacteria cause no problems or result in relatively minor skin infections.

But staph infections can turn deadly if the bacteria invade deeper into your body, entering your bloodstream, joints, bones, lungs or heart. A growing number of otherwise healthy people are developing life-threatening staph infections.

Many people carry staph bacteria and never develop staph infections. However, if you develop a staph infection, there's a good chance that it's from bacteria you've been carrying around for some time.

These bacteria can also be transmitted from person to person. Because staph bacteria are so hardy, they can live on objects such as pillowcases or towels long enough to transfer to the next person who touches them.
"

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/staph-infections/symptoms-causes/syc-20356221

Notice how in an entire article by a Mayo Clinic, nothing about it being a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is mentioned.

I have been battling symptoms of prostatitis and have been interacting with many foreigners on a foreign forum and it is surprising that only me has ever mentioned that the urine culture yielded a Staphylocoocus; infact a user once laughed and told me that Staph as a UTI is very unlikely.

So why then does almost all cases of UTI in Nigeria result in Staph? Could it be that foreigners have genitals that are immune to Staph?

I have come to the conclusion that the equipments used for lab testing in Nigeria is probably substandard and detects different bacterias as Staph. If you read 10 articles about staph, 9 out of 10 will not talk about it being a UTI. Foreigners also do not get them as a UTI (except some indians which i noted are a few and could also be because of substandard testing).

In short, could it be that we are being misdiagnosed of a different infection as staph, thus we get the wrong treatments and because it won't work we end up saying Staph is stubbor, Staph is incurable, etc. Maybe we have just been treating the wrong bacteria.

I have seen different bacteria causing UTI in foreign forums but you hardy see any of this from a Nigerian test result.

For example ureplasma which is described by wiki as " a bacteria that is commonly found in people's urinary or genital tract. It is parasitic, which means it needs a host, such as a human or animal, to survive."..

From this description alone it makes sense for infection to be a UTI but Staph is not defined anywhere in studies or articles as a bacteria that is commonly found in urinary tract, yet in Nigeria almost all UTI are Staph and well E-Coli.

See attached 2 of my many conversations with foreigners. None of them mentions Staph as the cause!!

Health / Re: Is STD Untreatable? by braveheart77: 4:11pm On Sep 19, 2020
ChybuzzDD:
STD for 3yrs? The problem with Nigerians is that they make their diagnosis at home, or at the roadside laboratories and then go to the hospitals with their lab results and pressurize the doctor to treat them based on the results they presented.

An STD cannot be going on actively for 3yrs consecutively, unless you're immunocompromised. What manner of STD is that? If you contracted an STD 3yrs ago, by now you would be talking about the complications(chronic pain, infertility, painful intercourse, etc) arising from the infection, and not the active infection itself.

What are the symptoms you're having? That a lab culture shows some growth of bacteria doesn't mean you have the infection. Bacteria can be present as contaminants or colonisers.
If you don't have symptoms, you don't have any infection. Did the hospitals you visited take history from you, examined you, investigated you, and concluded you have an STD, or you just believe you have an STD based solely on lab results?

Lab tests keep coming out with staph.

After completing augmentin for 10days i did a test at a lab near me and it yielded no significant bacteria growth after 36 hrs. The next day (after the day i did the first) i did another test in another lab to compare results and this one came with scanty growth of staph aureus. I seem to be having prostatitis symptom tho.

I have been to hell, and still not back. Do NOT ever take ciprotab. WHO has other drugs and dosage that would cure typhoid. Its poison and efforts are being to ban it, but big pharmaceuticals keep lobbying to frustrate the ban.

There are horror stories online. The side effect occurs most of the time, not worth trying

It got to an extent that I preferred the pain of typhoid than the pain from ciprotab. Its like times 10!

The typhoid will go,then you have headaches all day long, nerve pain, locked fingers, breathing problems, regular night fever. All these damage permanently for years.
I can't exercise, jog, etc. I was an athlete.

Avoid ciprotab if u can.

So sorry abt your ordeal.

My doctor prescribed cipro as the sensitive drug for a staph infection but i have read abt the dangers of this drug and still skeptical abt taking it

His blood tests shows very high prolactin and low testosterone, apparently it is what has been messing with his sperm count, morphology and motility.

We plan to visit the reproductive endocrinologist our gynecologist recommended but I would like to know if anyone has successfully normalized prolactin and testosterone levels.

Thanks

What kind of Semen test is this? Is it the regular culture? And how long did results take to come out.

Is there anyone that has experienced prostatitis whether bacterial or non bacterial?

How have you been coping and what eases your symptoms?

I had non bacterial for abt a year and this graduated to a bacteria (probably) due to a UTI i got. Urine culture showed a moderate growth of staph spp.

My symptoms are pain in testicles, tip of penis, anus, perenium, lower abdomen and sometimes flanks. I can hardly sit for 5 minutes without pain. Sometimes the symptoms are bearable tho.

Has anyone experienced this?

Ps: This thread is for real sufferers, not marketers of herbs or pills. Thank you.

People do not learn. Google all the different types of stds to know whether staphylococcus is one of them.

Staphylococcus is not std. A five year old child is capable of contracting staph. Heberlists are just making money. It is very hard to see an adult who doesn't have staph. It is just like malaria. All you need is to control it once a while.

Do not destroy yourself with antibiotics.

Make a research.

But many doctors say it can affect fertility. Does that mean every adult has fertility problem?

Same thing happened to me,my girlfriend infected me.After one month i was diagnosed with Staph app, i took treatment that was sensitive to the bacteria ie iv of cipro and Apiclox orally+ other anti biotics. After two weeks it came back and i went an took another injection, which will only reduce the pains in my scrotum and will come back again.I had to continue with the ampiclox till it became resistance to my body system.I took a lot of herbal i knew then but it didn't work out, which also drain me financially.Ran confirmatory test every month yet nothing was seen, probably because i was on drugs till one faithfully day i was diagnosed to have a heavy growth staph. To cut it short i went for treatment in another place and there gave me a shot of gentac+clorophenicol and levo(Iv) ,after the treatment i became fine.My own started last year around early February 2019 and ended in march 2020..No more chukuchuku oooo,e dey fear me when i reason wetin i been pass through.

what was the basis of the gentac drugs? Is it an antibiotic?

I have once be in your situation...

I used more of harbs.

After some days, I still believe I have Staphylococcus because of the pain I still went through and the test still showing staph.

So I visit a professional doctor.

After checking through all the series and version of test I did. The doctor concluded there is nothing wrong with me.

But I am going through pain as I am seated in your office, I told the doctor, I almost want to slap him. He makes me look like a fool.

He told me that it is my mindset and educate me on Staphylococcus. He encouraged me not to take anything drug again and just relex myself.

I still feel pain for some days, I change all my boxers and now i am completely heal.

So relex and also work on your mind.
