It’s probably best to start with an example from ordinary moral life. Consider the kind of promise that I imagine the musician Jay-Z entered into with Beyoncé when they got married. I take it that part of that marriage arrangement was a promise by Jay-Z to be faithful to Beyoncé. We think in our ordinary moral lives that one has a duty to keep the promises that one makes. If Jay-Z makes such a promise, then he has a duty to keep it. He has a duty to be faithful to Beyoncé. If he breaks that duty, then he does wrong. That duty is a directed duty, which means it’s not just the case that he must keep his promise; he owes it to someone in particular. What is more, if he breaks that promise, then he doesn’t just do wrong, but he also wrongs someone in particular. He wrongs Beyoncé. Directed duties are not things that we ordinarily talk about. That’s a term of art. But we do talk about owing it to each other to do certain things, and we do talk about wronging each other. We also talk about rights. Rights and directed duties are importantly connected. If you buy Beyoncé’s latest album, which I can recommend to you because it’s very good, then you have a right to listen to that album. I shouldn’t interfere with that right. I have a duty not to interfere with your right. I don’t just do wrong if I violate that duty, but I wrong you in particular. So, directed duties have this relational aspect to them. The philosophical puzzle is: Why do we think duties have that aspect? www.businessamlive.com ( source )

Tech giant, Google has created a doodle of the late former Nigeria coach, Stephen Keshi, on search engine page on Tuesday to celebrate the football icon who would have been 56 had he not been deceased. 1. Get a side hustle When you spend the bulk of your waking hours working, the last thing you want to do is go back to work at night or on weekends. But if you’re intent on increasing your income this year, taking on a second job is a guaranteed way to do it. And if you play your cards right, you may end up making more than you’d think. Of the 44 million Americans who currently hold down a side hustle, 36% bring home over $500 a month extra as a result. And that can go a long way toward accomplishing goals like building savings, paying down debt, or saving for a home, car, or vacation. If you are going to go the side hustle route, be sure not to push yourself so hard that you burn out or compromise your primary gig. Start by taking on a few shifts at a local restaurant or shop, or by taking on a few freelance assignments, and work your way up over time. And if you find that you’re perpetually frazzled and stressed because you’re just plain working constantly, don’t hesitate to scale back. Taking on a secondary gig is a great income-boosting strategy, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of your health or well-being. 2. Monetize a hobby Maybe you have a knack for knitting or enjoy concocting homemade treats in your kitchen. No matter how you choose to spend your downtime, if you’re looking to boost your income this year, you might consider turning your favorite hobby into an income source. This might require an initial investment, whether it’s obtaining a business license or setting up a marketing website, but if you’re willing to put in the time, you stand to come out way ahead, money-wise. 3. Rent out your home If you live in a cramped studio apartment, then finding a tenant isn’t exactly an avenue you can explore. But if you’re sitting on a larger home or have an unused room in an urban loft, then it pays to become a landlord, even if temporarily, and take in that extra cash. You’re more likely to be successful in renting your space if you live in an appealing or convenient area, such as a city center or college town, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on the idea if you’re deep in suburbia, either. You never know who might be looking for a place to live, and how much one might be willing to pay for it. Don’t like the idea of a full-time tenant? Then try renting out your home seasonally. This works if you live near a ski area, beach, or even a fun city with nightlife. Another option is to rent out your space only when you’re vacating it yourself, such as for periods when you happen to be traveling. And if you limit yourself so you’re only renting out your home for 14 days (or less) within the same year, you can avoid paying taxes on the income you generate. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, minister of state for petroleum, has denied news reports that the Federal Government was planning to jack up the pump price of petrol, at present fixed at N145 per litre. 1. Turkey’s Turquiose Coast Sunshine-soaked and with a glittering blue seaboard, Turkey’s glorious “turquoise” coast wouldn’t normally rank as a newly rising star. The 300-mile loop of coastline that unfurls like an iridescent ribbon between Marmaris and Antalya has long been a favourite for holiday-makers, with UK visitors in particular flocking to its picture-perfect fishing villages and chic little bougainvillea-laden resorts. But over the last couple of years, following a wave of terror attacks and political unrest, things have taken a well-documented nosedive. Between 2014 and 2016 Turkey’s visitor numbers slumped from 42 million to 25 million. And now? Maybe we’ve all simply had to accept that no country is guaranteed terror-proof. Maybe people have realised that the Syrian border is hundreds of miles from Turkey’s main tourist areas. Whatever the reason, tourism is back on the up, with the first half of 2017 showing a 28 per cent rise compared to the doldrums of 2016. So there’s never been a better time – particularly with sterling strong against the lira – to steal a march on the returning crowds and enjoy the unique magic of this beautiful region. What’s more, and against all odds, a new Turkey specialist company, Fairlight Jones, has risen Phoenix-like from the ashes of the several much-loved small-scale operators that went bust during the crisis. Formed by members of the team behind former Turkey experts Exclusive Escapes, it offers a portfolio that includes brand-new luxury properties and enticing “Special Tester” offers. How to go Fairlight Jones (020 3875 0351; fairlightjones.com) offers seven nights in one of two new “Lighthouse Loft” seafront villas on the Kas peninsula from £800pp based on four sharing, including return flights with BA from London Gatwick to Dalaman, transfers, and seven days’ car hire. Linda Cookson is a regular contributor to Telegraph Travel and has been writing about her journeys around Europe and North Africa for nearly 20 years. 2. Rwanda Last May, when RwandAir launched direct flights from London Gatwick to Kigali, this small, safe and forward-looking nation in the heart of Africa suddenly became accessible. Slightly larger than Wales, Rwanda has moved on from the genocide of 1994 to become a welcoming English-speaking country that can teach us a lesson or two: the majority of its MPs are women, city buses offer free Wi-Fi, and plastic bags were banned a decade ago. Almost everyone goes, of course, to admire its mountain gorillas, a conservation success story that sees trekkers paying $1,500 (£1,120) a head for an hour-long, close encounter. It’s a well-organised and, at times, strenuous experience, but Rwanda is by no means just about apes. Several enterprising Brits have jumped in, such as Steve Venton, who offers kayaking tours on lake Kivu (kingfisherjourneys.com), and Oli Broom, who organises cycling adventures (theslowcyclist.co.uk). And the quality of accommodation is rising. Next year, luxury hotelier One&Only (oneandonlyresorts.com) launches Nyungwe House, set amid the tea plantations of the mountainous south. While safari first-timers are better off in neighbouring Tanzania, veterans will appreciate the efforts being made to re-establish Akagera National Park. Perhaps the best reason to add Rwanda to your 2018 wishlist is that, with no jet lag, you only need a week or so to see its highlights. This is the year to say hello to a little nation that’s bringing a big smile to the face of Africa. How to go A 10-day Authentic Rwanda and Gorillas tour with Tribes (01473 890499; tribes.co.uk) departing 16 January 2018 costs from £6,555 per person, including flights from London Gatwick, gorilla trekking, visits to Nyungwe, lake Kivu and Akagera plus transfers, private guided activities and most meals. A fire at a Nigerian pipeline interrupted gas supplies to companies generating more than 3,000 megawatts in Africa’s most populous nation, the government said. The fire at the Escravos-Lagos pipeline owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. in the southern Edo state required a shutdown of the pipeline supplying gas to the 1,320-megawatt Egbin power plant, the nation’s biggest, and five others, according to an emailed statement by the Power, Works, and Housing Ministry. The interruption tripped the national transmission grid on Tuesday, it said. Most of Nigeria’s power is from thermal generation. The gas produced by oil and gas companies is delivered to the power stations through pipelines owned and operated by Nigerian Gas Processing and Transportation Company, a unit of state-owned NNPC. Bitcoin flew past the $14,000 mark early this morning less than a full day after it passed $12,000 for the first time. The cryptocurrency, which has staged a stunning rise from near-anonymity at the beginning of the year when its price was below $1,000, was up 3.1 percent at $14,133.93 at the time of writing, according to Coindesk’s aggregate index. The surge in price has led some analysts to label it a bubble, though there are questions around just when it might pop. The cryptocurrency is famed for its volatility: yesterday, it dropped by about $500 in three minutes before jumping back up to where it started again. However, even JP Morgan, whose boss called bitcoin a fraud, changed its tune on the digital currency this week with analysts saying the launch of bitcoin futures contracts by established exchanges could transform cryptocurrencies into an emerging asset class. Cboe Global Markets will launch bitcoin futures contracts next week while CME Group’s will go live on 18 December. Lamborghini unveiled the all-new Urus SUV on Monday in a presentation that could best be described as shambolic. A technical glitch forced Lamborghini temporarily to shut down the launch presentation and global webstream. While the presentation may have been a bit of a mess, the Urus is anything but. The Lambo looks lean, mean, and ready to take on the world. The striking off-roader is just the second SUV in the company's history and is expected to double its annual sales total to around 7,000 cars globally. Powered by a 650 horsepower, 4.0 litre, twin-turbocharged V8, Lambo claims the Urus can hit 100 kilometres per hour in just 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 305km/h, besting the Bentley Bentayga's 301km/h mark. According to Lamborghini, this makes the Urus the fastest SUV in the world. Infiniti has revealed the new 2019 QX50 SUV, the first vehicle in its lineup that will take advantage of new engine technology that will bring up to a 35% boost in fuel economy over the outgoing version. The unveiling, taking place ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show, was meant to showcase a new SUV that it says is both a styling and technology statement. The QX50 was created for roominess and a high seating position, Infiniti says. And it will include Infiniti’s latest driver-assist technologies. But what makes the new QX50 stand out is its variable-compression engine, a technology that Infiniti says it is first to bring to production. VC-Turbo, as Infiniti calls it, varies the compression in the cylinders based on driving conditions to save gas. As a result, Infiniti says its new 2-liter gas engine will have the same efficiency of a four-cylinder diesel engine. You may not have heard of Tencent, but about 1/7th of the world has. Last week, the Chinese Internet giant behind social media platforms like WeChat that together count more than 1 billion users briefly surpassed $530 billion in market capitalization — making it more valuable than Facebook. That has made its founder, a 46-year-old man named Ma Huateng, who goes by “Pony,” very wealthy. Forbes now puts Ma’s net worth at $47.8 billion — richer than either Google founder (Bloomberg’s billionaire index values Ma slightly lower), and, now, the first Asian to crack Forbes’ global top-10 richest list. Facebook will open a “community hub space” in Nigeria next year to encourage software developers and technology entrepreneurs and become the latest technology giant to pursue a training programme in fast-growing Africa. The U.S. social media company said the centre, according to Reuters, would host an “incubator programme” to help develop technology start-ups, while it will also train 50,000 Nigerians in digital skills. Africa’s rapid population growth, falling data costs and heavy adoption of mobile phones rather than PCs is attracting technology companies looking to attract more users. Honda Motor Co. is recalling about 800,000 of its Odyssey minivans in the U.S. after receiving 46 reports of injuries over faulty passenger seats. The company will repair the seats free of charge for owners of 2011-2017 models, it said in a statement Saturday. “If a second-row seat is not properly latched after adjusting it side-to-side or reinstalling a removed seat, the seat may tip forward during moderate to heavy braking, increasing the risk of injury to an occupant,” the company said in the statement. Honda said it’s looking into how best to repair the seats and will start notifying owners of the fault via mail beginning in late December. The recall comes two months after Honda agreed to pay $484 million to settle economic-loss claims tied to Takata Corp. air-bag recalls. As of mid-September, about 20 million vehicles containing defective Takata air-bag inflators still haven’t been fixed, 64 percent of the 31.5 million vehicles containing the defective parts, according to a progress report. culled from: www.businessamlive.com |

The growing profile of digital currencies such as bitcoin may be met with competition from a new innovative currency, Lumi, which is pegged against Africa’s biggest resource, the sun. The new currency on the block is developed in a tiny village in Western Jamaica, Accompong. Announcing the introduction of the Lumi, Timothy McPherson, Accompong’s minister Timothy McPherson, said the currency would open new pathways in Africa since it is pegged against Africa’s biggest resource, which is renewable energy. “We recognised that given the reality for climate change, the opportunity for Africa and its future economic development, as well as the Caribbean and Latin America, resides within embracing the reality for climate change and taking a leadership role and that should be based on renewable energy,” he said. Explaining the modalities of the innovative currency, he said the most important factor determining the price of the currency is either market forces of demand and supply or pegging it against other currencies performances. In this case, the Lumi draws on the future demand and supply for renewable energy, and in this case, solar energy. http://www.businessamlive.com/lumi-a-new-currency-debuts-its-not-digital-but-solar-uses-sun-as-peg-for-its-value/ |

( TechstyleNG ) WhatsApp allows you to recall or delete a sent message. However, this trick will show you the message even after it has been deleted. WhatsApp‘s most popular features in recent times is the message recall or ‘Delete for Everyone’ option that allows you to recall a particular message which has been inadvertently sent. Recently, we discovered that there is no time limit to recalling a sent message. Now, it has been found that the ‘delete for everyone’ feature can be easily surpassed. Here’s how you can still view a deleted message without rooting the device, or tampering with the app. Currently, if you are on the latest version of WhatsApp for Android or iOS, you can delete or recall a message by tapping on the message and choosing the delete option. From here, you can decided to whether delete it for yourself or for everyone. When launched, it was reported that a user could recall or delete a message within 7 minutes of the message being sent. However, in our own tests, we found the limit can be easily surpassed. https://techstyleng.com/2017/11/16/beware-whatsapp-messages-deleted-can-still-read/ |

(BusinessAMLIVE) As a rebel, revolutionary, Machiavellian manipulator, and supreme leader, Robert Mugabe has been the face of Zimbabwe for so long that it’s almost impossible to imagine the country without him. Almost. The impossible finally began to happen on Nov. 14, when tanks rolled into the capital, Harare, and the armed forces took custody of Mugabe and his wife, Grace. Military spokesmen said they were “safe and sound and their security was guaranteed.” Mugabe has ruled for 37 years—the entire existence of Zimbabwe after the downfall of the white minority government of what was then called Rhodesia. In that four-decade period, the economy has deteriorated from resource-rich breadbasket to basket case. Violent repression made Zimbabwe’s leader a pariah to most of the world. Mugabe’s visage became a face loved only by fellow leftist autocrats and the commodity-hungry Chinese government. Indeed, Chinese trade to the southern African nation last year was worth $1.6 billion; Zimbabwe’s military maintains close ties with Beijing’s generals. The globe’s richest one percent own half the world’s wealth, according to a new report highlighting the growing gap between the super-rich and everyone else. According to the eighth edition of Credit Suisse’s Global Wealth Report published Tuesday, the world’s richest people have seen their share of the globe’s total wealth increase from 42.5 percent at the height of the 2008 financial crisis to 50.1 percent in 2017, or $140tn (£106tn). At the other end of the spectrum, the world’s 3.5 billion poorest adults each have assets of less than $10,000 (£7,600). Collectively these people, who account for 70 percent of the world’s working age population, account for just 2.7 percent of global wealth. Africa’s mobile internet connections are set to double in the next five years, a study showed on Monday, thanks to affordable smartphones and the roll-out of high-speed networks. A report by research and consulting firm Ovum in London estimates that mobile broadband connections will rise from 419 million at the end of this year to 1.07 billion by the end of 2022. “Data connectivity is growing strongly in Africa, and there are also good prospects on the continent in areas such as digital media, mobile financial services, and the Internet of Things,” said Matthew Reed, Practice Leader Middle East and Africa at Ovum. “But as Africa’s TMT market becomes more convergent and complex, service providers are under increasing pressure to make the transition from being providers of communications services, and to become providers of digital services.” Mobile phone operators such as MTN Group, Orange and Bharti Airtel are investing heavily in high-speed networks to meet demand from users who are increasingly using phones for everything from paying their bills to streaming videos and surfing the internet. Speed up my phone – Clear the cache data Don’t know what cached data is? Well, it’s a good thing to have it, as it actually speeds up your device. By saving some data locally, the system can reduce loading times and avoid the need to grab the same bits from the Internet every single time you enter a website or app. The issue is that cache can build up and become pretty heavy on your smartphone’s internal storage. Try to clear it from time to time, as it can also get old. The option is available for individual apps through the app manager, or you can look for a cache cleaning application in the Google Play Store. Apart from these, there are still more. I am running late cant put up everything now. Just head to where I got the content from here at Techstyle Media - https://techstyleng.com/2017/11/04/can-speed-phone-get-answers/ |

Nigeria’s Diamond Bank is quitting other West African markets to focus efforts at home and deploy its resources on personal banking business in Africa’s biggest economy, according to a statement Friday, credited to Uzoma Dozie, its Chief Executive Officer.
