juntod: Even if they share, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you have documents to back your claim and that the new passport obtained bears exactly the same name on your old passport.

Scenario: If you have a visa on a passport and misplace it before travelling, they will issue another one on a new passport bearing the same name without any objection. Compared to your case, you have no problem at all. Just like Zeezahbee said, make sure all your visa application documents have the new passport number.
Thanks boss
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by castrotroy80: 6:30am On Aug 09, 2014
zeezahbee: its not a problem, if you havent submited your ds160, just edit the passport number and on the appointment booking page also you do same. affidavit or watever, you still need to edit it, it wont take you anything to fill a new ds160 if you submitted already.
Go with your mom account, going with the company account will make it look more like you spending the whole company money on yourself plus i still remember your question, i doubt if your course is in anyway related to what the company do. so your mom account and yours is berra
Thanks zeezah, but am sorry to ask this. Hope the school does not share information with the embassy, i mean the information i used in applying for admission. Though it was the old passport i used to apply for admission and at the time i was filling the ds160, i used the new passport number.
My question now is does the school one is going share students information with the embassy?

Abeg gurus in the house, urgent advice needed
I lost my old international passport with expired south
african visa and turkish visa on which i already filled on
the ds160 form as my travel history. This was the passport
i used to apply for admission, although the old passport
will expire this month end, which made me applied the
new one which i have with me now. I have an affidavit
and a police report. My interview is nextweek
Do i need to notify the school?
Hope there wont be a problem if i go to the embassy with
the new passport, affidavit and police report?
Another thing is my mum is co-sponsoring me, can i go
with her personal bank statement which reflects the
returns we make on my late Dads property, though the
transaction and balance on the account is very huge
instead of going with the company's account which the
balance is lower. Abeg make una advice me o

juntod: VO: Who is sponsoring?
YOU: Myself and my mum. Actually, a major part of my sponsorship comes from proceeds from my late father's estate which is presently managed by my mum. The estate comprises of haulage and freight services (package the transportation well my broda) for PZ, Cadbury, Wampco and Ewekoro cement as well as proceeds from real estate (landed properties).
Thanks bro, na my mum get the haulage business o no be my father.

can i say this?
As an heir to my late fathers property (like u said earlier),
I will be sponsored by myself and my mum who is into haulage and freight services for ewekoro cement, pz, wampco and cadbury, and the proceeds from the property my late father which is in her trusted care which i have a share and also savings from my salary
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by castrotroy80: 8:23pm On Aug 03, 2014

who is your sponsor?
Myself and my mum
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by castrotroy80: 8:04pm On Aug 03, 2014
juntod: Everything looks good. But personally, I think you should work on the bolded. As a married man, and a worker for that matter, the VO may not be patient enough after you simply say your mum is sponsoring. So, try to include why she's sponsoring when answering that question.

E.g.
VO: Who is sponsoring?
YOU: Well, as an heir to my late father's estate, I will be sponsored by my mum from proceeds from the said estate. The estate is transportation agreement with pz, cadbury, wampco and ewekoro cement and landed properties.
Am sorry the answer should be myself
and my mum

Joenice: Great. I see that you don't want to take chances as regards your interview. Saying according to research sounds a little bit antediluvian grin, make it sound like your work by saying "from my own research." blah blah blah. That's the first one. The second, I'm coming to help you out, while you wait for others to comment too.
Thanks and God bless you. am waiting for ur help

MsNas: As I said already. You have reputable school there. Just sell yourself to the VO. As per the finances aspect, are you absolutely positive you can foot the bills out there? Did you get funding of any kind? Are you working right now in Nigeria? If yes, to the working aspect, then I suggest you take your own statement of account to the embassy along with your mom's. And don't fail to mention to the VO that your wife is also gainfully employed by the Nigerian Police.

The Visa Officer might want to ask you why your mom is co-sponsor. Just tell him/her that the bills are a bit high and that the landed property left by your late Dad(in which you have a share of) is being held in trust by your mom. So, technically, its still your money. I doubt if you're gonna be having too much problems at the embassy though. You have almost everything pat down.

PS: PRAY really hard. God is the Ultimate decider in any visa case.
Thanks Nas, i did not get any funding assistance from the school, hope that wont be a problem.

Thanks, although sponsorship left to me alone, i cnt foot the bill, maybe accomodation and living expenses . But with the help of my mum coming in as the sole sponpsor, then i wont have a problem.
As regards to funding, do you mean from the school? No i didnt get any funding from the school.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by castrotroy80: 3:43pm On Aug 02, 2014
Joenice: There's no need telling the VO whole lots of stories. You may not have the time for that. Just say "she's
an assistant superintendent of police and earn good salary". Sorry, how much does she earn? VO might ask you this in the process.
Ok thanks, you mean i dont need to tell the vo about her getting money from the returns of the property.
She earns a little lower than 200k, does that proof to the VO she will be able to take care of the family in my absence?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by castrotroy80: 3:21pm On Aug 02, 2014
Joenice: Yes but co-sponsor makes a lot of sense in your case. Remember, you're married and you're playing a role of father. Do you have money in your account? At least, the one that would take care of other expenses like housing and vice verse.
Yes i do have money, thats why am asking like how much i need to have personally and also my mum in our account.
And in case the vo asks
how i intend to take care of my family while studying in
US, can i say this?
I and my wife have been discussing this for a while now,
and we have both concluded that my percentage from the
returns of the property my late father left behind will be
given to her for the family upkeep, and aside that she is
fully employed by the nigerian federal government. She is
an assistant suprintendent of police and earn good salary
so my family does not have a problem while am studying
in US
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by castrotroy80: 2:55pm On Aug 02, 2014
Joenice: Cool. That's above 1,000 dollars and multiplied by 30, is 30,000 USD. Why don't you go for self-sponsor? What are you waiting for?
Thanks, the school is very very expensive, the tuition alone is 40,000USD not to talk of other living expenses. Am married with 2kids and my mum is also sponsoring me, can i tell the VO myself and my mum are the sponsor although my mum is the sole sponsore, she is into transportation and in transportion agreement with ewekoro cement, cadbury plc,pz and wampco and she is the one in charge of my late dads property a shopping complex in Ajah where we get a returns of a little bit over 18m annually, and the big house where she stays, so how much balance does my mum and i need to have on our statement of account?

MsNas: Try get a waiver letter at all costs. It costs them next to nothing to give it out. They just need to type it out address it to the embassy. You still have time (like a week) to get it. Just let the International Office know that the waiver letter can affect your chances of getting a visa or not and they should cooperate.

For you to get GRE and TOEFL waiver at Boston University and still get admitted into the program is a good thing; BU is one of the highly ranked colleges out there. You're obviously really smart and I don't think you should have any problem convincing the VO that you're a genuine student. Just get the waiver letter to be on a safe mode.
Thanks my person, i just sent a mail to the school now. Its a good school but very very expensive the tuition is almost 40k so Please i have question to ask, am a married man with two kids, and my mum is the one sponsoring me, though shes got a good business and her account is well loaded and also she is the one in charge of my late Dads property in Ajah a shopping complex. juntod: Then you have no problem. All they want to know is whether she is a full time housewife since that will push you into going extra miles to violate their laws in order to be able to send her money for upkeep back home. Just present her as a fed govt worker who is capable of running your family financially while away. That solves it.

I think you shouldn't be reciting like these undergraduates do. These long stories are not needed for someone like you who is already working and going for masters degree (abi nor be masters again?). Just simply tell them how the degree will elevate you in your place of work upon return. have a written proof that they will renew your employment and even promote you after your degree. Forget about the story of irregularities engulfing the country. Leave that battle for the government to handle. Na your own concern you. Just be confident. Remind me of where you work and the course you are going for. I will try to construct a response.
