Sports / Roberto Di Matteo: Schalke 04 Hires Former Chelsea Boss by Charliesasa: 1:03pm On Oct 07, 2014
Roberto Di Matteo: Schalke 04 hires former Chelsea boss
Former Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed as the new manager of German club Schalke.
The Italian, 44, succeeds Jens Keller following the Bundesliga club’s inconsistent start to the season.
Schalke are 11th in the league with eight points from seven games, having won just twice.
They are third in their Champions League group after two draws, including holding Chelsea 1-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Di Matteo is set to face his former club when the two teams play the reverse fixture in Germany on 25 November.
Roberto Di Matteo’s managerial record
Milton Keynes Dons 2008-09
52 games – 27 wins, 11 draws and 14 defeats
West Brom 2009-11
83 games – 40 wins, 19 draws and 24 defeats
Chelsea 2012
42 games – 24 wins, 9 draws and 9 defeats

Keller had been in charge of Schalke since December 2012, and after being knocked out of the German Cup by third tier SG Dynamo Dresden earlier this season, his last game was a 2-1 defeat by Hoffenheim last Saturday.
“With the change in coach we want to give a new impulse,” said Schalke sports director Horst Heldt in a statement.

“We are absolutely convinced that Roberto Di Matteo can stabilise the team so as to reach its Bundesliga and Champions League goals.
“We are missing the necessary consistency to meet our targets. This is why we took this step.
“The performance of the team in the past few weeks has fluctuated.”
This is Di Matteo’s first job since being dismissed by Chelsea in November 2012.
He had taken over as caretaker Chelsea manager from Andre Villas-Boas in March 2012 and led the Blues to the Champions League title and FA Cup trophy that season.
His success earned him a permanent deal but when he struggled in the following campaign his reign was brought to an end.

Education / ALUU 4 Remembrance:2 Yrs After by Charliesasa: 2:39pm On Oct 05, 2014
Today is exactly 2 years after the Death of Our Heros.
The Death of these young men, exposed the cruelity & hostility Nigerian University Students experience within most of the University Host Communities.
As we Honour these Heros on the 2nd year remembrance. It suprising to note that the Culprits responsible for this gruesome murder have not been brought to book.
We are optimistic that much sooner than later, the cool blooded murderers would be brought to book as Justice can only be delayed but never denied!.
ALUU 4 Remembrance has come to be a landmark in the Struggle of the emancipation of not only the Nigerian Students but also the Nigerian Youths in general.
The event of the early hours of Friday October 5th 2012 still remains fresh in our memories but very optimisitic that Justice MUST come someday as you Continue to Rest in Peace.

Nairaland / General / [job In Germany] The Most Needed Workers In Germany by Charliesasa: 11:16pm On Sep 22, 2014
Germany’s Federal Employment Agency has identified the job sectors the country is most short of workers for. Nija Eye looks at where the vacancies lie.
According to a bi-annual study of skilled worker shortages released on Tuesday, Germany is currently lacking employees in 19 sectors. These include both jobs requiring university degrees and those which do not need an academic qualification.

The report totalled the number of days a position remained vacant for beyond the expected period of hire.

It focused on two fields currently lacking skilled workers: technical occupations, which include positions for software developers and mechanical engineers; and the healthcare sector, which is experiencing a need for geriatric care specialists, doctors and therapists.

“Employers have a very difficult time finding suitable employees in these professions” said the agency’s chairman Frank-Jürgen Weise.

Calling all technical workers

Statistics cite a shortage of workers in technical sectors, ranging from employees at the expert level to non-academically trained tradesmen.

The agency’s recent report of top job vacancies by industry indicated a particular need for workers in metal construction, which had the second highest number of available positions, falling just behind the retail industry.

Approximately 32,400 job vacancies in metal processing and construction were reported to the Employment Agency, a 15.1 percent increase from the previous year.

Germany is also in need of workers in mechanical, energy and electronics occupations. For this group, 30,600 positions were reported in June, up just under one percent from last year.

Where are the vacancies?

Experts in mechatronics, automation and electrical engineering are in particular demand in the regions of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Bremen and Lower Saxony where “vacancy time in these positions is considerably higher than the national average”, the report stated.

The need for specialists and non-academically trained workers in these fields remains high in the west of the country.

Those aiming for jobs in Germany’s start-up hot spot of Berlin may be interested to learn that the region is currently experience a deficiency in the IT sector in the areas of systems analysis and sales.

Health shortages

The study also cites a need for professionals in healthcare and reported the highest number of vacancies, 28,800, for those in the field of medical health. The category includes doctors, nurses and therapists who now have 6.1 percent more jobs available to them than last year.

Non-medical health professionals, including dental technicians, and specialist orthopaedic and rehabilitation equipment technologists are also in demand – 24,600 jobs are currently available in this area.

New to the growing list of professions in demand are geriatric healthcare specialists, of which there is a shortage in all German states. The situation has “changed very little over the past year”, the agency said.

It identified a need for specialist positions in the areas of geriatric rehabilitation, palliative care and oncology.

Jobseekers outside of the health and technical sectors also have increased opportunity to land positions.

According to the study of recent vacancies, retail positions comprise the highest number of vacancies at 34,700.

The tourism industry also has room for over 23,400 additional employees.
