EducationJamb 2018: Complete Guide On How I Passed Jamb And Scored 300 by dareal199(op):
I scored 291 (almost 300) the last time i wrote jamb and am definitely positive you can do better. Follow this guide closely and you will be glad you did.

It was as a result of the excruciating stress my younger sister went through the name of searching for a guide on how to pass jamb in 2018 that made me thought it wise to release a comprehensive blog spot that addresses the greatest challenge for all jambites – how to pass jamb in 2018.
If you are reading this post, one thing is sure, that you are interested in how to pass the upcoming jamb exam. No worries! You’ve come to the right place.
This blog post will take a holistic view on how to pass jamb (or any exam as the case may be) and also give fresh approach in understanding the basics of writing and passing jamb.
For every new innovation, come opportunities
I could recall vividly in 2013 when I was about writing my first jamb (yes, I wrote jamb more than once) the reactions of people when CBT was being introduced for the first time.
Uncertainty and fear of the unknown got the most of candidates then that people began to spread rumors about the supposed malfunctioning of the CBT computers and how dangerous using CBT can be.
Despite this, I made a personal conviction that I will take advantage of this new innovation and capitalize on it. Lo and behold, what people thought was a problem ended up being an opportunity in disguise.
For whatever reason, majority of us that opted in for CBT that year performed greatly compared to those that preferred the status quo (PBT).
In short, I strongly suggest you should see opportunity rather than obstacle in this new jamb system.
Without much ado, I will like to go straight to the main purpose of this blog post which is to provide a complete guide on how to write jamb and score at least 300.
Caution: Note that we arranged the guide in order of importance. From your Why (reason), Who (being), and How to (function).

Complete guide on how to pass jamb in 2018
Know Your “Whys”
This is your first assignment in this arduous task of passing your upcoming jamb exam. In fact, 90% of people fail simple because they cannot clearly determine their “whys” for writing jamb in the first place.
Ask yourself, why do I want to write jamb? Or do I even need to write this exam in the first place? What do I intend to achieve by writing this jamb? Why must I score a particular mark in this exam?
If you cannot provide a clear cut answers to all these questions, then you will most certainly fail in this exam. If you cannot clearly outline reasons why you need to write jamb and have a self conviction within you on what you want, then perhaps maybe you are at the wrong place putting a square peg in a round hole.
For instance, while I was about writing my first jamb, I had a clear conviction of what want. I was determined to be an economics graduate and I know within myself that for me to achieve this I must go to a university (course you can’t study economics in a polytechnic). And for me to be in the university living my dream, I must score above the cut off mark stipulated by the school authority.
And definitely, I can’t meet the cut off mark by doing nothing. I got to read! It’s every logical. I knew that for me to live my dream, I got to not only write and pass jamb, but also meet the cut off mark. In short, I had a Big reason why I needed to pass jamb and that drove me throughout those trying period.
So, the first and perhaps the most important task before you are to define your purpose; to define what you want and intend to achieve with jamb. This should be your driving force.
Manage Your “WHO” (Being)
This is more of a mental task than physical task. It requires you to set your mentality right. It requires you to position and manage your mental state of being in a manner that is in tune with what you want (assuming you know what you want, if not, then go back to the first point). It is called emotional intelligence.
Personally, I believe people have two different types of voices in their head: The negative voice and the positive voice. But unfortunately, it is the former that usually dominate our mental state of mind and this is very natural from psychological perspective.
As humans, we are wired to take note of negative thoughts, comments, and experiences. They say longer in our head compared to the positive ones.
So, how do we manage this and how is it important to your goal of passing jamb? To answer your question, if you cannot manage and successfully conquer your being (or those negative thoughts in your head), then you’ve lost the battle before it even started – meaning you might fail jamb even before you write it.
Thoughts like, have failed jamb once and I will always fail; I don’t have what it takes to pass jamb; jamb is too hard for me to pass; what if I fail; I will definitely fail will be running through your mind right now and I want you to know you can manage it and be in control.
Because if you are not in control, expect to see yourself among millions of students that failed jamb only because they lost the mind game. How then can you be in control and manage your “being”? Simple, identify those negative voices inside you and suppress them.
Those voices can be in form of:
• Fear of failure
• Laziness and procrastination
• Bad habits
• Low confidence/self esteem
Know Your “How to…..”
This is what we called ‘function’. It is j everyone teaches. Function is the “how to….”of a goal. It focuses on what you need to do to pass jamb (the action plan). It is important, but it is the least important of what you need to do to pass jamb.
One thing I got to realized is that people tend to ask how to achieve something without taking necessary step to make it work. This made me concluded that it was not the how that matters, but the why I do something that is important.
Having said this, I heard a story about three birds sitting on a fence. The somethingj is, “if two birds decide to fly away, how many birds are left”. Think about the answer for a minute. The answer is, “three birds are left”.
The lesson is, just because you decide to do something does not mean you will do it. The Why and the Who is still required to take action. People don’t do what they decided to do because they do not have strong enough why. Once you have enough why, it is possible to achieve your how.
After so much ado, what do you need to do to pass jamb? How can you score 300 and above in your upcoming jamb exam? Follow the simple steps below:

Education3 Surprising Ways On How Losing Focus Helped Me To Achieve First Class by dareal199(op): 1:19am On Dec 01, 2017
Could you believe it is actually good to lose focus when trying to achieve first class? Here is why.

In real sense, to achieve first class there is a need to be focused and single-minded in your pursuit. But in this case, what if I tell you not to focus really on what you want (which is first class). Will you oblige?

Wait a minute! Hope you are not getting this all wrong? When I say losing focus in this context, it does not necessarily translate to lacking direction or consistency in what you are doing. Losing focus in this context is more paradoxical than logical. It meant not focusing specifically on the objective (first class), but rather paying keen attention to the process and enjoying every bit of it. It meant focusing on acquiring knowledge which is the underlying objective of going to school.
I made first class by focusing on the process as against the end result which is what people ordinarily focus their attention on (the end result in this case is first class). In other words, to achieve first class or any success whatsoever in life, it is important to enjoy the process as much as the end results.
Now, back to the main agenda of this post. What are the long term benefits of paying attention to knowledge acquisition and how has that helped me?

It brings true Happiness

The best thing that can happen to a person in life is to be happy. And happiness can only be found by enjoying what you do. Imagine doing something every day without enjoying it. It will be so frustrating. That’s exactly what happens if you don’t enjoy what you do.
Thus, in your pursuit of bagging first class, it is very important you enjoy the process of acquiring knowledge otherwise your hope of achieving success will be dead on arrival. One thing that helped me in my academic pursuit is my irresistible appetite for knowledge and that helped me greatly. Don’t focus on the end result, pay attention to the process. That’s what brings true happiness.

It breeds knowledge versatility

Paying keen attention on acquiring knowledge will expand your appetite for knowledge and make knowledge a daily meal you can’t afford to miss. That’s what knowledge will turn you to. Trust me I know what I’m saying. At one point, I got so addicted to knowledge so much that there is no day that come by I won’t be thirsty of it. It became my second nature.
And this does not happen overnight. It was as a result of enjoying the process. Now, ask yourself. Why won’t I make first class? In fact, at this point, the objective is no longer about making first class, but about fulfillment and purposefulness.
At this juncture, I will like to strongly advise you to search for knowledge. It’s the hallmark of our very existence. When you have it, you have everything.

It made first class ‘piece of cake’

I wouldn’t expect anything less. I mean with my irresistible appetite for knowledge, having first class is the last thing on my agenda. It came almost automatically. It’s a bonus for hard work. But mind you, I wouldn’t suggest you replace first class as a reward for hard work as against it being just a bonus. It’s not and it can never.
A lot of people make the mistake of labeling first class as a reward. This is so untrue. To me, first class is just what I termed ‘academic glorification’. Nothing more; nothing less. However, it is also important to know that this just an opinion, thus, it is arguable - we must be looking at the same thing but from a different angle. But I will advise you to stick to what you believe.
On a conclusive note, achieve first class is no child’s play. But with a strong appetite for knowledge, you could be on your way to winning the big trophy. More than anything, I will advise you to enjoy the process and sometimes get a break. This is always half time in every game. Yes, you heard me. It’s a game.

Now it’s your Turn
Having made my own contribution, it’s your turn to fulfill your own side of the bargain. No one is an island of knowledge. Your contribution is as important as mine. After all, I might have missed something.

Enjoying this post? You will do yourself a lot of favour by clicking the link below for full details and other related posts.

EducationScared Of Your Upcoming Exams? See These 10 Uncommon Ways That Helped Me by dareal199(op): 2:14am On Nov 29, 2017
Ways on how to study and pass any exams

Have once being in your shoes and believe me, i understand clearly what you are passing through at this moment. The stress of having to live with the phobia of exams can only best be imagined. In effort to relieve your burden, have painstakingly put this short article for you. Thus, take your time to digest every word.

Unfortunately, passing an exam has been a tough challenge for most students and as a result students have been seeking out ways to study and pass any exam. In fact, it will interest you to know that a lot of articles have been written to address this challenge, but no success has been recorded as people are still failing their exams. The question then is what has gone wrong?
I don’t believe you have to get your hands dirty to pass an exam. I’m a firm advocate of seeking out creative means to pass an exam.

So, how can you study and pass an exam? How can you as a student make A’s in your exams? What are the study tips you can apply to pass any exam? These are the questions we will attempt to answer in the course of this blog post. While we understand that there are different types of exams at various levels, we will not fail to give you a one-fix practical study tips to pass that dream exam.

Let’s hit the ground running!

5Ps- LET IT BE YOUR WATCHWORD

I bet you can hardly pass any exam without this 5Ps – Proper Preparation Prevent Poor Performance. With proper preparation in place in your exam, there is no limit to the amount of score you can make in your exam…..sky is your limit.

I’m a living witness of this principle. It worked for me and it will definitely work for you. For instance, have started reading for my part 2 first semester exam as early as semester begins (at least 1 hour,30 minutes per day) and I was rewarded with 4.77 GPA in that same semester. That feat alone pushed me to first class Division. So, believe me, it works.

RIGHT ATTITUDE

It is important to note that passing an exam could be likened to attempting to climb a very tall mountain. Hence, having a positive attitude is essential to pass any exam. Positive attitude is about exhibiting positive disposition to what you are doing. And more than anything, positive disposition will assist you in maintaining high momentum in what you are doing. And with high momentum, passing any exam becomes easy.

Be sure that challenges will come and at some point you will get discouraged. But with the right attitude and disposition, you will see the challenges becoming a stepping stone to another greater height.

DON’T SKIP LECTURES

You can’t expect to pass any exam without attending lectures. In fact, if you miraculously pass, the lecturer as the moral right to question the authenticity of that result. So, attending lectures is what you cannot but do.

Apart from the obligation you have to attend lectures, it will also expose you to the rudiments of the course in question. Attending lectures will also help you to jot down key points and likely questions arising from the lecturer’s explanations.

ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS

I discovered that a lots of students shy away from this. You should understand that a lot of things will be unclear and completely vague in the process of studying and the best way to quench your doubt is to ask questions. After all, you are not a robot that accepts without questioning everything given to it.

In addition, I believe true education can only be achieved by asking questions. I can’t just imagine education without the right questions being asked.

It is only by asking the right questions you can best understand what looks unclear. Thus, when the right questions are asked, passing an exam becomes easy.

DON’T PLAY ‘TOO KNOWS’

A lot of students play too knows believing they understand everything they are being thought. You can’t be said to be knowledgeable and believe you know everything. It is only a fool that believes he is an island of knowledge.

You can easily spot a knowledgeable person as they are mostly humble and hardly talk- empty barrel makes the loudest noise they say.

So, for you to pass any exam outstandingly, you can’t afford to play too know. You have to be willing to humble yourself and seek help from people you think are better than you.

READ AND STUDY HARD

I know you must have heard this over and over again. That should tell you how important it is. Read voraciously and study relentlessly. This should be your motto everyday and every moment. You can’t pass even the simplest exam without reading and studying hard. It is just inevitable.

Furthermore, you cannot expect to pass an exam by simply reading only a day before the exam. In contrast, I will advise you start reading from day one. This is your only alternative except you want to cut corners.

BE SYSTEMATIC IN ANSWERING QUESTIONS

It is unfortunate to see undergraduates answering questions like a high school student. You cannot expect to pass an exam by answering questions like an amateur. You need to be methodical and strategic in approaching exam questions.

For instance, as an undergraduate you are not expected to answer questions directly. You should be able to deviate a bit and try to link up different concepts and see how they relate with one another. Basically, you should learn how to approach questions maturely and knowledgeably.

EVERY MARK COUNTS

A lot of students don’t pay attention to little marks like test score. People focus majorly on the exam score – 70%. Whereas, you can do yourself a lot of favour by accumulating significant marks from your test score. This will reduce the burden of having to score higher marks in the exam.

Therefore, it is imperative to understand that every mark counts when it comes to passing any exam.

PARTICIPATE IN GROUP DISCUSSION

There is no doubt that the best way to learn is through interaction and group discussion. You can gain considerably by engaging in group discussion. In fact, research as revealed that people tend to remember 70% of what is discussed in a group discussion and forget 90% of what they read in a book after 2 weeks.

This shows obviously that group discussion is an effective learning tool that can aid our desire to pass any exam.

EXPLORE BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

In this information driven age where you can have access to millions of materials and contents within a speed of light, there is no better tool for you to learn anything than the internet – Google.

Learning as gone beyond sitting in the classroom in front of your teacher, you can literally sit in the corner of your room and receive lecture from a Harvard-based professor. This is a huge resource you can use to your advantage and help you achieve your desire to pass your long awaited exams.

Lastly, having given you a 10-in-1 ways to study and pass any exam, it is important you understand that your success lies in your hands. So does your failure. Wish you success in your upcoming exam!

Yes, i made 4.77 GPA and you too can make it and even surpass this feat. It is not a rocket science. It is possible to achieve, but the question you should ask yourself is, are you desperate enough? Follow me closely and take your time to digest every single word:

Unlike in the past, first class students are beginning to struggle even to keep up with their average students counterpart and the reason for this unfortunate incidence is not far-fetched.

Some people believe it is due to shady examination malpractices being perpetuated by this same supposed first class students. Some other people also believe it is as a result of declining education standard in which cramming and other unproductive academic exercises are being encouraged. Whatever the reasons are, the fact still remains that education standard is declining globally and unless a proactive step is taken, we should not be surprise if true education goes into oblivion.

So, back to the main agenda, what does it take to be a first class student? Or better still, how can i be an outstanding student? Ho! I’m sorry. If you are expecting me to roll out some principles like focus, determination, Big dream among others as tips for making first class. Sorry to disappoint you. I’m not going to be going that. But mind you, am not totally discarding those principles. They sometimes work, but not in all circumstance. Rather than bore you with 14 principles for achieving outstanding success in your academics, I will rather suggest we work out some practicable tips for making first class because experience has shown that these principles lack empirical backing – not practicable.

At one point in our lifetime we’ve all tried to be focused and unwavering in our pursuit for academic excellence. But at the end, what achievement have we made? On this note, these are some practicable proven tips that worked for me and will definitely work for you in your pursuit for academic success:
Let’s kick the ball rolling!

The God Factor

Yes! You need God to achieve first class and virtually everything in life. You should however understand that am not here to preach to you as a Christian, or Muslim, or any religion whatsoever. But what am basically saying is that, we all need a supreme being to look up to; someone to trust in completely especially in critical moment of our life. There are some things you can’t just achieve with your physical strength, therefore, the need for a spiritual backup. Trust in God and he will make your first class a reality.

Build a System around You

This is exactly what you need. To achieve this seemingly impossible academic feat (first class), there is a need for you to build a formidable system around you that will propel you to match action with words and make success an habit for you.

What then do I means by a system? “A system in this context is a daily activity engaged in by people over time in order to produce a sort of cultural feelings around it. A system is what you do over and over again until it becomes a part and parcel of you. To achieve first class, you need to engage in perpetual activity of reading on a daily basis until it becomes your second nature so much that when you did not read for a day, you feel like something is missing inside you- like you’ve not brush for a day.

Building a system around you is about contributing to your success bit by bit on a daily basis. Just like the popular saying goes, “success is not a day job. It’s a daily job. It takes a formidable system to achieve first class. Have tried it and it worked.

Crave Knowledge, Not First Class

Don’t get it twisted. I’m not suggesting you shouldn’t pursue first class with vigor and tenacity. My point is that, if only you can give knowledge priority, first class will come automatically. And besides, you lose nothing if you did not eventually hit your target. After all, you’ve gained more knowledge in the process which in itself priceless. Simply put, knowledge should be your watchword, not first class.

Know Thyself

Knowing yourself is about conducting some sort of SWOT analysis on yourself to give room for self evaluation and self assessment. Ask yourself questions like, what are my strengths and weaknesses? How can I maximize opportunities and minimize threats? All these questions will help you in knowing yourself better and how best to position yourself for outstanding success. For instance, I know myself to be a procrastinator and I minimize this weakness by giving myself a deadline. With a deadline, I know I have to deliver within the stipulated time. Setting a deadline also makes me more accountable to myself. So, when you know yourself, you will discover that making first class is as easy as drinking a cup of tea.

Teach, Teach, and Teach

This is the bottom line of all academic excellence. Research has shown that teaching is perhaps the best way of learning. Teaching is a way of imparting knowledge into people. By imparting knowledge, you are consciously giving more knowledge in the process. So, teaching is the best tool you can use to aid your understanding and by extension, your potential of being a first class.
I’m passionate about teaching. Are you? You can share your view by simply commenting.
