Foreign AffairsIndian Man Reportedly Dies After Fasting To Pray For Trump’s COVID-19 Recovery by dermmy(op): 1:49pm On Oct 13, 2020
An Indian man has died after holding a four-day fast to pray for President Trump’s recovery from the coronavirus, according to reports.

Bussa Krishna — who had a life-size statue of Trump and worshiped him as his “god” — was filmed crying when he learned of his idol’s illness and then fell into a depression, according to Indian news agency ANI.

“He spent sleepless nights, starved and prayed for the US president’s recovery for the past three, four days. He died of cardiac arrest [Sunday] around noon,” a friend told the agency.

It was not clear if the 35-year-old farmer was still on his fast, with some reports saying he collapsed while drinking tea in his village in the southern state of Telangana.

Other than “feeling depressed” about Trump and first lady Melania Trump coming down with COVID-19, Krishna was otherwise “healthy and had no prior medical complications,” his cousin, Vivek, told the Hindustan Times.

Bussa Krishna’s obsession with the commander-in-chief started with a dream, he had said, and left him nicknamed “Trump Krishna” after he built a shrine and statue in his house.

Village official Venkat Goud said it was hard to believe that their “Trump Krishna” had passed away without getting to meet his “god,” whom he worshiped daily.

“As much as we are sad that he died without meeting Trump even once, we hope, at least the news of his death, reaches Trump now,” Goud told the Indian Express.

Foreign AffairsRussia Successfully Tests New Hypersonic Tsirkon Missile by dermmy(op): 2:43pm On Oct 07, 2020
Chief of the Russian military’s General Staff told President Vladimir Putin the missile had successfully struck a target at sea for the first time.

Russia says it has successfully tested a new hypersonic anti-ship cruise missile in a move hailed by President Vladimir Putin as a “great event” for the country.

The military said on Wednesday that the Tsirkon missile was fired from the Admiral Gorshkov frigate in the White Sea on Tuesday morning in the Russian Arctic and successfully hit its target.

Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian military’s General Staff, told Putin – who turned 68 on Wednesday – that it was the first time the missile had successfully struck a target at sea.

“The tasks of the launch were carried out. The test-fire was successful,” he told Putin. Gerasimov said the missile hit its target 450 kilometres (280 miles) away in the Barents Sea and reached a speed of Mach 8 – eight times the speed of sound.

Russia has in the last years touted the development of futuristic new weapons it hopes will give it the edge in any arms race with the United States at a time of growing tensions with the West.

Putin said the test-firing of Tsirkon was a “great event not just in the life of our armed forces but for all of Russia”.

He said such weapons, which he claimed are unequalled worldwide, “will without doubt in the long term boost the defence capabilities of our state”.

The defence ministry said that the plan was to equip both warships and submarines with the Tsirkon.

Putin had revealed the development of the new weapon in a state of the nation address in February 2019, saying it could hit targets at sea and on land with a range of 1,000 kilometres (620 miles) and a speed of Mach 9.

Russia boasts of developing a number of “invincible” weapons that surpass existing systems and include Sarmat intercontinental missiles and Burevestnik cruise missiles.

The first Avangard hypersonic missiles were put into service in December last year.

The programme is not without risks and seven people were killed in an explosion at a missile test site in August 2019. Western experts linked the blast to work on the Burevestnik.

Macsjebs, with all due respect, man please take down this post.

I know you are at liberty to post whatever it is that you wish to post but I am getting fed up with the Iranians and their boasts already.

The last time they had an opportunity to atomize US military bases in the Gulf and Middle East, what did they do?

They simply ended up firing into blank spaces and the best result they got was giving a few US servicemen headaches and trauma here and there.

And now, they are showcasing new weapons that can take out US military bases in the Gulf? Jokers. I stopped taking them seriously after seeing their reaction to General Q. Soleimani's death.

Right now, my focus is on where the real action is at the moment- Armenia vs Azerbaijan.

All these display of rockets don't quite do it for me since the people displaying them won't be using them any time soon. sad

I hope you understand me.
From a bored Nairalander.
Well, Iran has repeatedly said it does not want war but would retaliate should the bully/aggressor attack them and i think they gave America a proportionate response in the January 8 attack by hurling missiles at U.S military bases in Iraq.

They passed a clear message letting the U.S know that they won't allow any attack go without a response. If Iran didn't do that America would have done worse after the killing of Soleimani.

Do you know what it means to attack a U.S military base injuring over 100 troops and all president Trump could do was bark and bark on twitter even after he had promised the Iranians hell and brimstone should they retaliate the killing of that General.

If U.S had taken a step further to escalate the incident after Iran retaliated, Iran too would have responded in kind. Confront a bully then that bully would think twice before messing with you next time.

Foreign AffairsJuan Emilio Ameri Suspended After Kissing Woman’s Breast During Virtual Session by dermmy(op): 5:06pm On Sep 25, 2020
A lawmaker in Argentina has been suspended after he was spotted kissing a woman’s breast during a virtual session of congress.

Juan Emilio Ameri, who represents the northern province of Salta, was seen by both colleagues and members of the public committing the lewd act as the chamber of deputies held a special meeting broadcast on Zoom.

Footage of the incident quickly went viral on social media, sparking outrage and quickly leading to a vote in which the 47-year-old was suspended pending an investigation.

In the footage, Mr Ameri, who is in the ruling Frene de Todos coalition, can be seen sitting down in front of a web cam with a woman on his lap.

As another politician addresses his colleagues, Mr Ameri puts his face to the woman’s chest, before pulling down her top and appearing to kiss her breast.

Following his suspension, Mr Ameri said the woman was his partner and that he believed at the time he was not connected to the meeting.

“I’m very ashamed, [I feel] very bad,” Mr Ameri said, according to the Buenos Aires Times. “Here, throughout the interior of the country, the [internet] connection is very bad.”

Mr Ameri added he gave his partner “a kiss” because 10 days ago she underwent breast implant surgery.

The deputies meeting was immediately interrupted, with speaker Sergio Massa telling colleagues he needed to report a “serious offence” against the “normal decorum and operation” of the lower house.

Ms Massa’s proposal to create a commission weighing up Mr Ameri’s expulsion from the chamber was endorsed, and the father-of-three now faces a wait of up for five days for the decision.

It is not the first time a virtual meeting has tripped up a politician since their use became widespread with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

In April, a California state official was forced to resign after he was seen in a Zoom meeting throwing his cat and making derogatory comments about “little b******”.

Weeks later, Irish MEP Luke Flanagan was unwittingly caught trouser-less discussing agriculture policy during a virtual European parliament committee meeting.

We need a world Leader that will knit the world together, we humans must naturally look up to someone for leadership and US is the best option...
We can't have a Chinese-Led world simple...
I am a big follower of what's going on in China and i know what I mean regarding human rights....
Lets not debate on what is obvious biko...
USA is not a perfect country.. We all know how they operate but its best we leave leadership to them...
Yes Blacks face racism and all that but racism and all that cannot be totally erased... Please lets not talk further on this issue.. Every country get their fault
America is not a leader but an evil bully take it or leave it. That's not how a leader behaves, a leading country sets good example for other nations to follow please can you tell us the good example America has set? Can you tell us the positive roles America has played in the last hundred years? The only thing we know America for is invasion, regime change, sponsoring insurgency and causing trouble around the world.

You said we need a world leader that would knit the world together. Has America done that? They have turned our world upside down and disorganised it with their evil policies so what are you saying.

We know China operates a system which is not compatible with the hypocritical western democracy but China is not hypocritical they have laws that forbids protest, uprising and unlawful gathering they don't hide it and they are ok with that. But the western world that claims to be a democracy have denied it in practice with their destruction of democratic regimes around the world what China has never done so what are you saying?

And you know what? China does not even need to crash regimes around the world for their company to have free access unlike America and its allies have done in the past. You can see how China is winning countries economically look at the belt and road initiative. China does not even need to spread Communism cause China is already a free market economy it is only a Communist country politically with the one-party system and capital does not rise above the politburo. America had been forcing countries to open their economies since mid 19th century and they will continue their evil policy of regime change till another super power emerges.

Iran don't know the implementation of what they are doing. They are starting a war that's they can't scale through. They think thier gadget can override that of USA. They should better stop before they can't control it.
Iran was performing a reconaissance over a hostile enemy. wink You don't expect them to fold their arms while an enemy transit their backyard. They are passing a message telling the enemy you are within our range, you can see the drone targeting those aircrafts and flight deck. It's one of their Saegheh stealth drones even U.S declined to comment because they didn't know when the drone took that shot.

Revolutionary Guard force flew drone over the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier which last week transited through the Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard force has managed to fly a surveillance drone over the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier which last week transited through the Strait of Hormuz, an Iranian news agency has reported.

The semi-official Tasnim news agency, which is considered close to the paramilitary Guard, published images of the Nimitz, saying they were taken by Iranian-made drones, and showing fighter planes parked on the carrier’s deck.

The Nimitz, and several other warships, passed last Friday through the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s most important chokepoint for oil shipments, the US Navy had said, in what was described as a “scheduled maneuver”.

The US Navy’s Bahrain-based 5th Fleet, which oversees patrols across Mideast waters, declined to comment the Iranian report on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the Guard took over a delivery of surveillance drones from Iran’s defense industries. At a ceremony marking the event, Gen Hossein Salami said the power of the Guard’s navy stems from its combination use of drones, helicopters, aircraft and its vessels.

Over the past decade, the Guard has occasionally published images on the US vessels in the Persian Gulf, where the force has been in charge of protecting Iran’s interests since 2007. In 2019, similar images were published, reportedly from a Guard drone that flew over the USS Dwight D Eisenhower and another American warship in the Persian Gulf.

Tensions between Iran and the US continue to simmer. The US withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and major world powers and imposed new, tougher sanctions on Iran that sent the country’s economy into free fall.

“We are in war, we are in an economic war,” said Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s president, in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, citing the US sanctions as the cause of the economic warfare.
