then let him be charged for the offence he actually committed - not get charged for something he knows nothing about. it's irresponsible for the nigerian police or the state prosecution service to wrongfully charge the pharmacist!

a good lawyer? i have never been in a law class but my common sense tells me there's no reason for nonso to be charged with conspiracy to murder or torture cynthia! he's been held wrongfully......saying he needs a good lawyer makes it sound like the lawyer needs to display some skills to get nonso out - its a no brainer - nonso shouldn't be defending murder and torture! he sold the drugs wrongfully to the police because the undercover said he needed it to ease pains - he did not sell it because the undercover said he wanted to use the drug to sedate women.....he should be charged with felony not murder!

if what the police did qualifies as a sting operation then God help nigeria! going to a random pharmacy store that had no link to where the murder suspects bought their drugs is a police sting? i laugh in cantonese! while they are holding an innocent pharmacist, the real culprit that sold the drug that sedated cynthia has been allowed to escape!

I understand the law my brother, the court works with prosecution's evidence in a criminal prosecution. the wicked prosecutor will tender incriminating evidence before the court, it is now left for the defense lawyer to convince the court that nonso be cleared of murder charges and a lighter charge for selling banned substances be meted instead. This is not the job of a baby lawyer. miscarriage of justice is synonymous to Nigeria justice system, remember in Nigeria no forensic science to save your a55, the court believes in HARD evidence. The seized controlled substances might be used against him in the court of law. He needs a GOOD LAWYER. Remember he was handcuffed with the other accused pharmacist, while the accused murderers were not handcuffed. Reasons which we do not know.

Yes a VERY GOOD lawyer. The capital letter connotes seriousness. My friend this is Nigeria. No one is accusing Nonso of murder, the Nigeria police has already condemned him, many innocent souls are languishing in Nigeria prisons, no thanks to Nigeria police FORCE. You will be surprise at the amount of evidence the wicked prosecutor will tender in court against Nonso, it will be too overwhelming for a baby lawyer to handle. Let me quickly remind you that in Nigeria, only the renowned lawyers win criminal cases of this magnitude.

Circumstances, the pharmacy Nonso was doing his internship was in the same jurisdiction where the crime took place. Same reason why he needs a GOOD LAWYER, incompetency in the Nigeria police force has killed so many Nigerians. In Nigeria if you are arrested in a crime scene, automatically you are a criminal, no cctv, no forensic science to bail you out. This is not America, not Europe where every police stations have their own forensic department.

When the son of a prominent politician is arrested for driving against traffic, then i'll believe in the new Lagos traffic law. Assuming Bola Tinubu's son/son in-law drives against traffic in Lagos state, what will happen?

No sentiment in law. Your friend did not commit murder, but Felony drug charges which can cause a lifetime changes in his record. The punishment can be anything from fines to jail term or more. It can brand him to have criminal background and prevent him from EVER getting a paid job. These crimes can be punished by long term imprisonment.

A good criminal lawyer could evaluate the situation and make your friend eligible for alternate sentencing rather than facing murder charge which could keep him behind bars for ever.

The sting operation carried out is permitted by law. It was done in an attempt to catch your friend "nonso" in the act of selling controlled substances, police set up "sting" operations where undercover police contact an alleged seller to schedule sale. It sounds unfair, but stings are legal in Nigeria as long as the police have reason to believe that the suspect is dealing with controlled substances. Get a sound criminal LAWYER, not just a lawyer.

@OP
According to inside gist, MayD NEVER signed an official contract with Square Records. They only had a verbal agreement. So, when it was time to sign the contract, MayD made some demands that Square Records were not willing to meet. For this reason, their relationship dissolved.
Religion / Fraudsters Impersonate TB Joshua On Facebook by elimokhai(m): 10:02am On Aug 28, 2012
Temitope Joshua, popularly known as Prophet TB Joshua, the General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), has raised the alarm over the activities of fraudsters who operate with Facebook accounts created with his name.

According to him, fraudsters have created several blogs and Facebook accounts to swindle unsuspecting members of the church and other donors worldwide.

Joshua said he does not have a personal account on the social internet site, adding that the only official account of his church on Facebook is 'TB Joshua Ministries'.

"Although the fraudulent Facebook pages are too numerous to mention, our attention has been especially drawn to the following account: 'TB Joshua Ministry Can Change The World'," he said. "We were shocked to see the account has well over 40,000 followers and the writer of the site is even receiving prayer requests from people in the name of TB. Joshua. What appalling deceit! It is time to put an end to this.

We are saddened to discover that people are still being deceived by individuals on Facebook claiming to be representing Prophet TB. Joshua, the SCOAN or Emmanuel TV. As we have stated several times before, TB Joshua, the SCOAN and Emmanuel TV has only one official Facebook page, which is: TB Joshua Ministries. Any account claiming to represent TB Joshua, the SCOAN of Emmanuel TV is fraudulent. There is no official account on Facebook for TB Joshua, the Wise Men or any individual connected with the ministry."

He urged members of the public to disregard the fraudsters, stop 'liking' them on Facebook and report them to Facebook so that they could be blocked.

"Once again, beware of any imposters claiming to be Prophet TB, Joshua or claiming to represent The Synagogue Church Of All Nations, demanding for money in the name of either of the above in the promise of providing anointing water or other materials from the ministry," he said.

Business / Do You Frown At Street Hawking? by elimokhai(m): 4:18pm On Aug 24, 2012
Did you ever hawk to help your mother? I hawked plantain for 8years to help my poor mother. I think child abuse is one thing, street hawking is another. Our forefathers helped their parents in the farm. From my own perspective, child abuse is not the same thing as helping your parent to feed you and the younger ones. One is a crime, the other is life. Child abuse and street hawking are two different things. I don't ever mix them up, we shouldn't out of ignorance and sentiments. Hawking is not an excuse for not getting proper education, it didn't stop me from graduating from the university with good grades.

Politics / Re-development Of N29B Ketu-Ikorodu Road Underway by elimokhai(m): 10:39am On Aug 20, 2012
The state’s Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, revealed this at a town hall meeting with people of Ikorodu on the presentation of 100days of the Governor in office.

According to the Commissioner, the re-development will cost N29billon with the road having 6 lanes and an integrated median demarcation for the BRT buses to ply.

Other features that will be developed include; pedestrian bridges designed to allow ease of access for commuters while preventing access by non-users and barriers that ensure unhindered movement for the buses.

The contractor, Chinese Construction Company, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, (CCECC) has already moved to site and buildings that would be demolished for the demarcation are already being marked for the road expansion.

He revealed plans by the state government to create alternative road for Ikorodu given the traffic count and increase in the number of residents.

He added that the project, based on the initial survey will see the road cross from Ojodu/Berger to Isawo.

Linking Ogun

Dr Hamzat also stated that the state government has concluded plans to partner with neigbouring Ogun State to redevelop three roads that are linking of their border communities.

The roads are the Ikorodu – Sagamu Road, the Akute-Ojodu/ Berger road and Epe –Ijebu Ode road.

According to him, there had been fruitful discussion between the two State Governments to facilitate the quick delivery of the projects.

He added that in the face of nil response from the Federal Government which has responsibilities for the road, it has become expedient for the States to act in the interest of the people.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Muamba Retires From Football by elimokhai(m): 9:22pm On Aug 15, 2012
Muamba, 24, collapsed on the pitch during a televised encounter between Bolton and Tottenham at White Hart Lane in March and the game was abandoned as medics fought to save his life.
The midfielder's heart stopped for 78 minutes before finally starting up again after prolonged resuscitation and following his arrival at the London Chest Hospital.
His plight shocked football but Muamba was discharged from hospital on April 16 after what was described as an "incredible" recovery.
He said he hoped to return to professional football, but following further surgery in Belgium last week doctors have informed the former England Under-21 international that he should not play again.
Muamba said: “Since suffering my heart attack and being discharged from hospital, I have remained utterly positive in the belief I could one day resume my playing career and play for Bolton Wanderers once again.
“As part of my on-going recovery, last week I travelled to Belgium to seek further medical advice from a leading cardiologist. But the news I received was obviously not what I had hoped it would be and it means I am now announcing my retirement from professional football.
“Football has been my life since I was a teenage boy and it has given me so many opportunities. Above all else, I love the game and count myself very lucky to have been able to play at the highest level.
“While the news is devastating, I have much to be thankful for. I thank God that I am alive and I pay tribute once again to the members of the medical team who never gave up on me. I would also like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my career, and the Bolton fans who have been incredible. I am blessed to have the support of my family and friends at this time.”
Muamba arrived in England as a refugee from DR Congo at the age of 11 and joined Arsenal's youth academy in 2002. He made two appearances for the Gunners before joining Birmingham, initially on loan, in the summer of 2006.
A permanent move followed the next year when Muamba joined the Blues for £4 million but Bolton moved in the summer of 2008 and brought him to the Reebok Stadium for a fee of £5m.
Muamba made 148 appearances for Bolton, scoring four times.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle said: “We have spoken with Fab and he knows we will always support him in whatever he wants to do and that we will always be here for him.
“He is obviously massively disappointed that he won’t be able to carry on his career, but everyone has seen what a fighter and strong person he is in mind and body.
“We know that he will go on to achieve great things and within all this disappointment, the most important thing is that he is here, alive, today.”
Muamba represented England at several different youth levels, and earned 33 caps for the under-21 side.
FA chairman David Bermstein said: "On behalf of everybody at The FA I'd like to say how sorry we are to learn that Fabrice Muamba has had to end his professional football career.
"His recovery has been miraculous and a great tribute to all who have been involved.
"I would like to wish him the very best for the future and I know that the thoughts of the entire football family will be with him.

The moral of the story. Always make use of your camera if you have one available especially in accident scene regardless of the horror, when you're wrongfully accused, even when you violate the law, just make use of your cameras. It has helped a lot in fighting criminal cases and will never stop helping in getting justice. Remember Nigeria justice system is based on Hard evidence, forensic doesn't work o! Thank God for video evidence, her life would have been traumatized for ever.

Car Talk / Re: My Engine Rings Are Failing: Is It Better To Work On It Or Change The Engine? by elimokhai(m): 4:32am On Aug 15, 2012
From my experience which you don’t want to hear, because the car finally parked up on the highway (ORE) without any helper, I strongly object to “ringing of engines” not even my generator. NEVER will I ring a car engine, not in Nigeria. Presently my Nissan Altima is having similar problem, ringing is estimated at 20k, while a tokunbo engine is estimated at 60k. I rather buy a tokunbo engine that will take me for another four years. Same thing with the transmission, I was told the pump is faulty, and it will take about 25k for fixing which I am sure will not be perfectly repaired. The transmission is so sensitive, tampering with it could disrupt the whole structure and speed of the car,so i'll rather buy a tokunbo directly from engine 40k. if I go for fixing the engine and transmission pump at 20+25+service charge, the engine capacity goes low which affects the wiring and air-condition system. It will never be the same, in few months you will think of replacing the complete engine. What happened to 45k+service charge? “Penny wise pounds foolish” No mechanic will EVER tell you the impending problems of ringing an engine. if your mechanic tells you "ring engines" will take you for 6months when he actually knows that tokunbo engine will take you for four years, please have him replaced. because you will turn out to be his best customer. you know what that means.
My brother, I will advise that you keep using the car, while you save enough to change the full engine.
