My application for research/visitors visa for postdoc in SA was recently declined because i also did not include a SA police clearance report. I know 2 other postdocs who also were denied because of that. I strongly advise that you get this SA police clearance especially if you are not presently in SA.
This has been sorted out.

You can't start a postdoc when you have not finished your PhD. I think you need to show evidence to the embassy that you have completed your PhD. Either a PhD certificate or a letter stating that you have completed the PhD. You need to wait till May before you apply ( I stand to be corrected )
Okay. I am not starting until August. I am only applying for a visa and evidence showing that my thesis has been submitted and that my PhD viva voice has been scheduled will be submitted alongside other documents.

Extremely tough! Extremely! In fact if I had known I would not have applied. Why will someone wait for 6 months for visa & get refused. USA would never, China would never! It’s now africa to Africa, it would never make sense to me. Very abnormal & Absurd.
It makes no sense at all. I have applied for Police Clearance Certificate in my current country and I interviewed for it two days ago. Just a few minutes ago, someone told me that I need to get it from Nigeria!! Is that correct? He said that if I don't they will deny me a visa! I have been living here for 3 yrs and 8 months. I have not even submitted my application and I am already exhausted.

Yes! This is the only logical reason for holding people's passports and ultimately rejecting the applications. In January 2022, I submitted an application for a research/visitor visa, but it was denied in June 2022 because my South African police report was not included. I quickly obtained the police report and resubmitted the application in July 2022. My visa came out in February with validity running from February to December 2023. This is how my two-year postdoctoral fellowship was reduced from 24 to 10 months. If not for the fact that my university started paying my stipends in January 2022 and that I published three articles and wrote one book chapter working remotely from Nigeria, the postdoc would have been terminated in 2022. A number of my friends' postdoc fellowships at other schools were terminated due to delay from the embassy.
We should not also forget that the country belongs to them and they have every right to allow/disallow other nationals from entry their country.

It appears that this South African Visa is tougher than I thought. With this experience of yours, I am beginning to be confused.

I recently got a postdoc at Wits. You said because "my South African police report was not included." Is this required from someone living outside SA? Please clarify that.

Among all the requirements, I saw "the applicant needs to provide all educational qualification certificates with the notary. All my certificates were attested by the Ministry of Education and Foreign Affairs of Nigeria. Do I still need to notarize them? In addition, my PhD defence will be held in May 2023 (thesis submitted on 31st Jan 2023). Do you think a letter indicating that my thesis had been submitted is enough proof at the embassy?

Thank you in anticipation of your reply.

Six months statement of account for residency permit - while in India or Nigeria? Predatory journals after @Wip7 admonitions! Nah, that would definitely be an issue. If I may ask, why would someone (a supervisor, in this case) want to publish in such a journal? Yea, their NITs and IIT are dam good, that's my target fa.

I may just have to let go and check-out somewhere else. By-the-way, Sharda University, is the school.
Thanks, for the enlightenment.
I said 6 month SOA while renewing your papers. That means while in India. You are welcome.

Yea, this thread helped my especially @Prof Wip journals during my seminar. Downloaded and studied not less than 115 journals. Was so rigorous but at least I made an A. And my grades significantly improved from probation I passed. Thanks all for you contributions. Currently on thesis. So stressful coupled with Nigerian factors - strike, etc.

Now, to my question. How 'good' is Indian educational sector. Got an offer for a PhD, but the visa laws (best to my findings online), students are not allowed to work. And it seems the unemployment rates is similar to Nigeria. The school offers 50% scholarship (amounting to $2500 p.a) and a teaching assistantship (about $200/m). By my calculations, also I might need about $4000 for feeding and housing.
How, feasible is it to work in India and pay for studies even if I managed to pay for the first academic year. Also I asked the Admission Officer, she said no other cost. I kept wondering if the research project is also covered in their tuition.

You are not allowed to work in India. It is illegal to do so. As a matter of fact, you will need to be submitting your Statement of Account (6 months) each time you are renewing your Research Visa or Residence Permit. The sole aim of this is to track the inflow of money into your account. Your sure bet is to find a fully funded scholarship that covers all your expenses (monthly stipend inclusive). One of such scholarships (ICCR Scholarship) closed in March or so. And some Nigerians are already getting offers.

The school offers 50% scholarship (amounting to $2500 p.a) and a teaching assistantship (about $200/m)- You can avail this opportunity only, since it is a part of your admission package. Outside this, you cannot work elsewhere without running into trouble.

Food is very cheap in India, however, accommodation is somehow on the high side. If you are willing to cook your own food by yourself, 8-10k rupees is more than enough monthly. For the accommodation, you might be paying between 5 to 8k rupees (for university's hostel) depending on your location.

In general, the educational sector in India is slightly above that of Nigeria. This still depends on you university involved and your Research Supervisor. Some supervisors will make you to publish your work in predatory journals! (check where your potential supervisor is publishing for a better choice). Their NITs and IITs are generally good. However, getting an offer there for Indians is even difficult let alone foreigners. Although some Nigerians/Africans are there but there number is insignificant.

I advise you all to sell now in losses,
BTCee is going to $28k, by that time most of your altcoins you're diamond holding will die completely.

If you're want to Diamond hand,
Hold Only BTC and ETH, because these 2 will stand the test of time.
Use ×50 leverage to short it untill that 28k, if you are confident about what you are saying.

Africans and their religion that hasn't solved any real world problem. Sleep paralysis has nothing to do with spirituality or whatever you wanna ascribe it to. It remains a kind of sleep whereby you are conscious but cannot move your body. If sleep paralysis is spiritual then your normal sleep is spiritual too. I had the experience when a Med Dr recommended one sleeping pill for me and it ceased to occur the moment I stopped taking the medicine. Sleep paralysis has to do with how you manage your body before sleeping or during your sleep (your posture).

This Moroccans that I'm seeing are a more complete them than the Egyptians. Egypt has Salah and that's it. unless Salah s given too much space and respect...he's unlikely to score more than a goal from open play... it the Moroccans can hurt them from any angle
You could see what is happening now. The Egyptians are pressuring them immensely.

In Indian culture as well as others, the reverse is the case. Many of you always think that your religion is superior to others. In the real sense, men invented religion same way science was invented. Your books were written by men same way other books were written. Nothing is divine about them.

This is why Aunty temmy was still single in her father's house till 37.

Luckily, she got married at 38 to a rich dude. They got married, husband had financial challenges and all they had went off in 3 years. She is back to square one, bittered and planning to port to another marriage. She is still looking for another rich guy at 41.

When I start making children, I will train my girls to work hard and make their own money so that they won't see man's money as heaven ticket
You are very correct. Everyone should be trained on how to make money regardless of gender. A woman who brings something to table commands more respect than the one who offers nothing aside child bearing and house chores. Reasonable men will always support such women.

Gender equality, we accept. Women rights and education, we accept. Women first only and other privileges, we accept. But it must still be a man that will provide for all the woman's needs, what is wrong with this gender really? Men should wake up in this country, i know it is a thing of Nigerian men to want to rope in on anything concerning women, but never helped each other. The world is finally realizing the pitfall of making everything about women and giving them little in terms of responsibilities. Even in the Western world, oyinbo na dey take sh*t with their women anymore. I am not saying that a man that is not finally buoyant should be thinking of marriage, but this also applies to a woman too. But it seems Nigerian women want all the rights given to women in this world without emphasizing the roles of women in a society

Wake up, real men of this world
The writer of this post is a frustrated individual with no wisdom. This radiates throughout the entire write up.
