Music/Radio / Miracle From The Man Called Righteousman by emmalezy(m): 8:33pm On Mar 05
Could it be the demands of being a child prodigy when kids his age are still suckling, buried somewhere under mother’s bosom or maybe the moniker which could well pass these days as a metaphor for talent and consistency? One thing holds true though for the artiste known as Righteousman and that is the fact that long after his contemporaries had become relics, the artiste is still holding up the torch for reggae/dancehall music with a bias for roots reggae.

Soon after overrunning his birth place Benin - city and environs as a teenage star at NTA Benin entertainment flag show, Music Panorama. Righteousman headed for Lagos where as a seventeen year old, he promptly caught the eyes of Felix Liberty, now a pastor and one Nigeria’s pop stars of the 80s.

Several hot singles after, the artiste caught the scene napping with what has been described as one of the most compelling and earthshattering songs reminiscent of Majek Fashek’s ‘’Send Down the Rain’’ of the early 90’s, titled ‘’NO’’. Even the remix version of same song was an even bigger hit attracting the support of about all the biggest stars on the scene at the time, which made the song the only song to accommodate the highest number of featured artistes anywhere in Naija.

To the surprise of all, Righteousman has over time, built an admirable soar-away repertoire in pretty much every online stores worth its salt and still counting. To further swell the ranks is the release of a brand new single titled ‘’Miracle’’ available on all digital platforms. According to the artiste, the song is a true life story intent on encouraging his fans to believe that things can change for the better.

Righteousman packs an intimidating string of accolades and awards of assorted hues under his belt which includes the

Music/Radio / MIGHTY DOW Presents AFRO-SOCA Offering From The Caribbean by emmalezy(m): 10:48am On Feb 26
Something new and invigorating seemed to be in the air, determined to make its mark on its own terms. The excitement is growing steadily, receiving fantastic compliments from well-known musicians and music lovers from Ghana to Nigeria. Presenting the artiste simply known as MIGHTY DOW, who is ready to make a name for himself with his unique Soca/Calypso sound on the rising African soundscape. He hails from a Caribbean Island of St. Martin/St. Maarten

When Mighty Dow and Righteousman, the dominant reggae artiste from Nigeria, met at a concert in Ghana sometime in October 2023, fate intervened. Righteousman extended an invitation to Dow to visit Nigeria right away. Inspired by the thriving music scenes in Ghana and Nigeria, Mighty Dow went back and recorded his song "Come on Everybody," which is his current single. The song was recorded in St. Maarten, Ghana, Nigeria, and was filmed on location in Lagos, and directed by Righteousman.

Born on the lovely Caribbean island of St. Martins, Christened Isidore York, also known as Mighty Dow, got his start as a young steel pan prodigy, entertaining guests at parties and hotels with his father's steel band, the Potts Steelers. His breakout hit "St. Martin Rhumba," a Soca/Calypso tune that topped the charts in multiple Latin American nations, helped him gain international recognition in 1986. He has created a number of songs with collaborations by well-known performers, including Beenie Man of the island Jamaica.

Numerous honors have been bestowed upon him, such as in the field of humanity on his home Caribbean island and as a Hall of Famer of the International Raggae and World Music Awards, where he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. Mighty Dow, the magician behind the steel, says that visiting Africa is a privilege and a dream come true that goes beyond music since he wants to return to the continent of his ancestors.

On March 11, 2024, the new video "Come on Everybody" will make its debut on YouTube and other streaming digital platforms.

From Passion to Personalized Scents: The Entrepreneurial Journey of Fragrance Planet's Founder

What inspired you to start Fragrance Planet, and how did you come up with the idea for the business? I have always been very passionate about fragrances. Each scent tells a story and has a memory attached. I wanted to create a space where others can experience the magic of scent in a personal way. With my little experience with perfumes and scents, I felt obligated to not only share my favorite scents but also create a unique experience for customers.

Can you tell us about your background and how it prepared you for entrepreneurship? My background in the fashion world has been really instrumental in preparing me for entrepreneurship. I started off as an intern in a fashion store where I learnt the ropes of running an online business because I was working closely with the CEO where I gained necessary experience that helped me in starting up my own business. I learnt customer relationships and good advertisement which has helped to improve my own business. Due to my love of smelling really good, I dived into the fragrance world and was able to implement most of the skills I learnt as an intern which has helped me get to where I am as a business owner today.

What sets Fragrance Planet apart from other fragrance and beauty retailers? Fragrance planet stands out in several ways. This careful selection process ensures that every product reflects our commitment to provide our customers with the best in the fragrance and beauty industry.

What is your favorite fragrance, and why? My favorite fragrance is Aariz intense by Arabiyat Prestige. I love this particular fragrance because of its lingering scent and the fact that it gives off a confident vibe. Aariz is designed for people that love luxury and for that I love it.

My advice to someone looking to start their own business would be to first understand their passion and purpose, ensure that it is built around something they really care about. Thorough market research is essential. Creating a comprehensive business plan is like having a roadmap for the journey ahead. Embrace failures as opportunities to learn and grow. It’s a journey that requires continuous learning, resilience and genuine passion for what you do.

How have you adapted to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic? During the pandemic, it was really difficult on the business because we could not deliver, customers could not come in to shop and buy. We were able to adapt to working remotely. Also, we tried our best to satisfy our customers even without physical contact which improved as an online store. We had to improve our online presence, although it was hard, my staff and I were able to work under pressure during the pandemic which helped us improve the brand. We also dive into online blogging where we were to teach and explain about perfumes which helped us pick fragrances of interest without having to walk into the store. Our website was also birthed during the pandemic to allow seamless transactions between we and the customers.

Politics / Fashola urges landlords to collect monthly rents by emmalezy(m): 2:23pm On Dec 03, 2023
Former Works and Housing Minister Babatunde Fashola (SAN) has called for the review of tenancy laws in states to compel landlords to collect rents monthly
Fashola urges landlords to collect monthly rents

The former governor of Lagos State spoke at the launch of his book titled: “Nigerian Public Discourse: The Interplay of Empirical Evidence and Hyperbole,” in Lagos.

He also reflected on the burden of housing surplus in rural areas whereby their owners are confronted with deficits in cities, thereby predisposing them to renting houses.

Fashola said payment of rent for up to three years or more by tenants to landlords should be discouraged, adding that it is overwhelming to tenants.
He pointed out that many houses are unoccupied due to the way rents collection are structured and collected.

Fashola said: “If you do not understand how dramatic and painful that three, four or five years rent has become to our nation, we have not consciously done anything to it.

“Can we bring it down from three years to one year? Can we hopefully bring it down to six months? Can we let it coincide with when people get paid; at the end of the month instead of in advance?”

Health / Anaxon Wellness CEO, Victor Ayoola, Sheds Light On Traditional Medicine by emmalezy(m): 12:01am On May 08, 2023
For centuries, traditional medicine has persisted, and there is still much to uncover about this age-old practice. As alternative medicine gains popularity, it's crucial to dispel the myths and misunderstandings surrounding it. In this interview, we sit down with Victor Ayoola, CEO of Anaxon Wellness, to delve into his knowledge of traditional medicine, including his diagnostic and treatment procedures, his integration of traditional and modern healthcare practices, and his effort to address common misconceptions about the field while maintaining the safety and effectiveness of his remedies. Continue reading to gain a deeper understanding of traditional medicine and its potential benefits.

● How did you become interested in traditional medicine?

Traditional Medicine also known as Alternative medicine is something I was born into. Most of the things done there are things I literally grew up knowing from childhood but I later decided to take it into a source of living as time goes on!!

● Can you tell us about your training and education in traditional medicine?

I was trained by my Godmother that is still into this business till now but age made her less active. She is the one that fully groom me at Ebute meta areas of Lagos state.

● What are some of the most common health issues that your clients come to you for?

Common health issues clients come for are infections, menstrual issues and Fibroid.

● Can you walk us through your process of diagnosing and treating a patient?

My process of diagnosing is easy. When a client comes to me, the first thing I request is their test result from the hospital laboratory. The lab result helps in knowing what medication to give out because most time, sickness can relatively share the same symptoms.

● How do you ensure the safety and efficacy of your traditional remedies?

All our remedies are safe because most of our medicines undergo clinical trials. As a matter of fact, some of them are already NAFDAC approved while the rest are presently with as work is still going on. So for efficiency, they are all absolutely good to go. They are top notch.

● What are some misconceptions people have about traditional medicine?

Misconception about traditional medicine is that it affects the liver after using it also due to the fact that most alternative medicine practitioners are not really educated so people do not trust them. But trust me I am up to the task as lots of calculations have gone down before giving out an herb to use. Most times we even go to an extent of going to hospitals to test run our herbs on patients. So we do not give excess of it that could damage the liver and we are learned so we know the dos and don'ts.

● How do you balance the traditional and modern approaches to healthcare?

Regarding modern approach to healthcare. I make people understand that we are coming to take over sooner than they imagine because the truth is that we do give permanent solutions to what orthodox medicine cannot do. We do not just give you herbs and let you go like that, rather we monitor you for another three months to ascertain the fact that you are really okay and good before we let go. People have to understand that times are changing and as such our herbs are now being encapsulated. We also filter out the bitterness in it for the GenZ as they call themselves.

● How do you keep up with the latest developments and research in traditional medicine?

The highest researchers are the Alternative medicine practitioners. Everyday we hear of new sickness diseases and so we keep researching on which leaf is best to use for such ailment thereby testing varieties of them to know the most potent one and all these are done in the laboratory!!

● Can you tell us about a particularly challenging case you've dealt with and how you approached it?

My most challenging case is infertility. It takes a lot to solve cases like that as most clients would not always comply with whatever we tell them. To treat infertility we tell clients to come with lots of test results which they always claim that they are fine, especially the MEN. They would insist nothing is wrong with them so it makes it extremely difficult to achieve results in that aspect. But we keep pleading with them till they finally agree but trust me it is not an easy task!!

● What is your advice for someone who wants to pursue a career in traditional medicine?

My advice is for the person to be real. No matter how good you are, be truthful as lots of practitioners are now liars. Just to make money out of a client they will say what is not and also treat what is beyond them. You cannot treat all ailments and that is the truth so I do tell them what you cannot handle, let it go or rather refer them to those that specialise in it. We all have our speciality unlike me. I major in female health, sexuality and wellness.

● What sets ANAXON WELLNESS apart from other traditional medicine practitioners?

What actually sets us apart is that we stand on truth. Go through my page and all I will not hide information from you and I ensure people see how things are done making me transparent. Most practitioners believe in hiding things to make money but I believe in letting you know things and sometimes I tell them simple home remedies they can practise and not come to me.

● Can you tell us about some of the success stories of your clients?

I have lots of success stories of clients ranging from clients that suffer recurrent infections which are now free after using both orthodox and traditional medicine from all angles but getting to me they are now totally okay. Those with Pcos have testified also as people do say it can only be managed and can’t be cured. Client with hepatitis B Fibroids Hormonal issues etc. I have a particular client that has not seen her period for the past ten years and now she is okay. Lots of infertility issues from clients and now they have their own children. I cannot name it all. I also remember a client that is 24 yrs and never had her period for once etc.

● How has your business grown and evolved over the years?

Business has grown beyond imagination. I have clients all over the world reaching out to me over one ailment or the other. Countries that I have never thought they would hear my name, especially IRAQ. I never knew Nigerians are there and they have been reaching out to me not to talk of the likes of the UK, CANADA, USA etc.

● How do you handle scepticism or criticism of traditional medicine?

As human criticism is part of our life no matter what you do either good or good people will always talk. So as for me I see it as a normal thing and move on. Bad publicity has helped me grow so I love when being criticized because people rather channel much energy on hatred than to applaud you and I just convert the criticism to my own source of strength and energy to enable me to become a better version daily.

● Can you tell us about any collaborations or partnerships you have with other healthcare providers?

For collaborations presently NO as I have tried reaching out to many but they rather love to be alone. They wish to stand alone so I let go except for a brand called KING AFFAIRS. The lady in charge is a good friend so we do discuss and share ideas.

● How do you incorporate modern technology into your traditional medicine practice?

Technology has taken over everything so I have no choice than to revolve with it. Incorporating technology into alternative medicine is not an issue, it has been quite easy. Using laboratory equipment to detect issues. Having business on all social media platforms is another one and so on. If I refuse to move into the new space of technology then we would remain beneath.

● Can you tell us about any upcoming projects or initiatives for ANAXON WELLNESS?

We have lots of projects at hand this year like visiting secondary schools precisely for the senior students and enlightening the girls there about the puberty stage and how to handle things regarding preventing infection as we discovered that many do not know of these things. We have a whole lot of projects. Stay glued to us, you will see them all.

● How do you ensure that your business operates ethically and with integrity?

I am a man of integrity so I do not have issues on that as I am equally not religious biassed or tribalistic. Medicine is a religion and has its own language. So no matter your tribe religion or beliefs when you come to me we are one. Oneness is something I hold high.

● Can you share any plans for expanding your business beyond Nigeria?

Yes, there are plans for expansion but you know how they say it when we get to that bridge we shall cross it. When it is time you will see it for yourself.

● What is your long-term vision for ANAXON WELLNESS?

Long term vision is for everyone to not only accept ANAZON WELLNESS but to accept Alternative medicine as the best form of healing. I want people to get to know that we are here to stay permanently if not taking over in the nearest future.

Politics / Timi Frank Accuses APC Of Fueling Crises To Force Election Postponement by emmalezy(m): 1:19pm On Feb 16, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, accused the APC of fueling agitations and riots over the scarcity of new Naira notes to heat up the polity, make the country insecure and cause election postponement.

Frank who made this assertion in a statement in Abuja, however called on President Muhammadu Buhari, not to bow to APC’s pressure and blackmail through ongoing sponsorship of riots to trigger election shift.

He insisted that the ruling party is fueling the crisis to enable them perfect their vote buying and rigging strategies ahead of the elections.

He said: “It is unfortunate that the APC has chosen a dangerous route to retain power by instigating killings and destruction of property by paid irate mob protesting scarcity of new Naira notes.

“I dare say that the country is bigger than any political party or party candidates. Instigating crisis to provoke a postponement of the elections is least expected of the APC.”

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, called on President Buhari and INEC to be resolute in their commitment to conduct the elections notwithstanding the evil machinations of the APC to get the polls shifted.

He called on the international community especially election observers already deployed by statutory bodies to monitor the elections to put pressure on the nation’s election management body to hold the election as scheduled.

He insisted that if elections are being held in countries in worse security situations or experiencing full blown war, there is no justification to postpone the forthcoming elections on the basis of protests over scarcity of new Naira notes.

He added: “Even though the riots seem localized in the southern parts of the country, we have information that very soon APC will cause it to spread to states in the North.

“This to enable them sustain their blackmail and pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Buhari to postpone the elections under the guise of widespread violence.

“We condemn this resort to violence being masterminded by the APC and we call on all well meaning Nigerians and international development partners not only to condemn this shenanigans by the ruling party but to hold it responsible for all deaths and properties being destroyed at this time as well as any postponement of the election.”

END

In his application for the final forfeiture order, Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rotimi Oyedepo had told the judge that the expensive jewellries comprising wristwatches, necklaces, bracelets, bangles, earrings, a customized gold phone and more were reasonably suspected to have being acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities of the former Minister.

An investigator with the Commission, Rufai Zaki, in an affidavit put before the court insisted that the jewellries were beyond the former Minister’s “known and provable lawful income.”

The investigator further said that findings by the EFCC showed that she started acquiring the jewellery in 2012, two years after she was appointed Minister.

The investigator also said that the EFCC was in possession of the details of the bank account through which Mrs Alison-Madueke received her salary as a minister.

“The respondent did not utilise her salary or any part of her legitimate income to acquire the assets sought to be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria,” Zaki said.

He said a “damning intelligence report” received by the Commission led to the search of former minister’s house at No. 10 Fredrick Chiluba Close, Asokoro, Abuja.

The Former Minister on her part had challenged the seizure of the jewellries from her premises by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

In an affidavit filed on her behalf by her counsel, Prof Awa Kalu (SAN), Diezani, who is currently in the United Kingdom, alleged that the EFCC violated her fundamental “right to own property and to appropriate them at her discretion,” under sections 43 and 44 of the constitution.

She also accused the anti-graft agency of entering her apartment illegally and taking the items without any court order.

On July 5, 2019, The Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC had secured an order of the court temporarily forfeiting the expensive jewelleries to the Federal Government.

According to the schedule attached to the application, the jewellery, categorised into 33 sets, include “419 expensive bangles; 315 expensive rings; 304 expensive earrings; 267 expensive necklaces; 189 expensive wristwatches; 174 expensive necklaces and earrings; 78 expensive bracelets; 77 expensive brooches; and 74 expensive pendants.”

Two Busia county women, 28-year-old Lilian Weta said to be a mother of three and 29-year-old Millicent Auma, a mother of two swapped their husbands in a bid to find happiness.

Millicent Auma was living with her husband Christopher Bwire in Siroba village, Matayos constituency. Suddenly, she walked out of the tumultuous marriage and moved in with one Kevin Barasa, a married man with three children.

Barasa and Lilian Weta, 28, have lived together as husband and wife for more than 10 years in Namwitsula, Butula constituency and have three children, but were experiencing constant quarrels.

Weta told Standard Digital that her husband came back home one day with Auma, telling her he had a new wife.

“They came in at around 1am with my husband and she (Auma) told me that night she was officially the wife,” said Weta.

When Weta confronted her husband, he told her to go look for Auma’s husband and marry him. Weta thought of their constant quarrels and said enough is enough. She summouned courage and for left Matayos in search of Bwire.

“My husband told me to go look for Auma’s husband and marry him. I asked him if he would be comfortable with me finding a new husband. He said yes.”

Weta called her brother and sister to tell them what had happened and they told her if that would bring peace in her life, then she should go for it.

“They told me to do as my husband had said. In the morning I went to Bwire and told him what happened.”

When she eventually located Bwire, she shared with him what had happened in Butula.

Weta told Bwire that Auma had moved in with her husband and they told her to look for him (Bwire).

It was then that Bwire asked her to go pick up her children and come with them to Matayos.

Bwire confirmed that they were staying together as man and wife after his former wife left him without a trace.

“I called Auma several times but she was not picking my calls so I gave up,” he said.

He added that between him and Barasa, one person may regret the decision.

“It is either me or him who will regret afterwards but for now I am happy with my new catch,” Bwire added.

When contacted, Barasa stated that he is no longer interested in Weta because he is happy in his new marriage.

“If she has accepted to stay with Bwire, so be it.”

Politics / Arsenal Legend Nwankwo Kanu Attacks Former Side For Selling Alex Iwobi by emmalezy(m): 1:31pm On Sep 10, 2019
Arsenal and Nigerian football legend, Nwankwo Kanu has attacked his former club for selling Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi to Everton for £30million.

The 23-year-old winger was sold to the rival club in a shock move on transfer deadline day. He has since scored twice in three games for his new club since leaving his boyhood team after 149 games.

Speaking on Iwobi's move to Everton , Kanu said: 'I would say they made a mistake, 100 per cent. Why they let him go, I don't know.

'He's a boy who, in and out, is Arsenal. He always wanted to do his best for the club. He loves the club, but not only that he can play football. What he brings week in, week out, the fans need to appreciate that.

'I think he is still young and those are the type of people you want in the team, people who grew up here, who knows everything about the club and wants to die for the club.

'He was one of them, so for us to lose him and to let him go, was a shock. I couldn't really believe we did it, but that's football.'

Kanu also said if he had knew about the move on time, he would have advised Iwobi to remain in north London.

'It was a surprise to everybody because it happened right at the end of the window,' said Kanu. 'If I knew earlier, I could have said to him not to go and that it was better for him to stay.

'I would have said that there was no need for him to go because at Arsenal he will still play. He's that good and he needs to know that.

'I think Arsenal would have been the best place for him because it's a big club and you want to play in a big club and in Europe. Those are the games you want to play.'

Officers of the Nigerian Army shot one of the four daredevil armed robbers who dispossessed a bank customer of about N1.5 million in Bayelsa on Monday.

The robbers who wore masks accosted the victim as he was driving into the office complex, broke the back glass of his car and removed a small Ghana Must Go bag containing about N1.5m.

However, soldiers passing by in a military van opened fire on the fleeing robbers. A bullet hit one of them on his stomach and he fell to the ground. The other three managed to get away with the money and varying degrees of bullet wounds.

All exit routes around the area have been blocked by policemen and the soldiers to prevent them from escaping.

Crime / Four People Beheaded As Renewed Hostility Between Ebonyi And Benue States Begins by emmalezy(m): 1:02pm On Sep 09, 2019
At least eight people have been confirmed dead as armed men raided a community in Ebonyi State this weekend.

The armed men stormed Ukwagba, Mgbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state leaving four people beheaded as the residents noted that they were attacked by villagers from Agila in neighbouring Benue State.

Loveth Odah, the police spokesperson in the state said, “the state Commissioner of Police, Awosola Awotinde, top police officers and the Chairman of Ohaukwu LGA, rushed to the scene on receiving information on the incident. We were informed by the people that the attackers came from neighbouring Agila community of Benue as they also burnt six houses and killed 20 goats”.

According to the police, the beheaded victims are James Aleke, 55, Innocent Agbo, 65, Chukwu Enwe, 46, and Livinus Idoko, 70. Other residents killed include Ngozi Idenyi, 32, Jonathan Onwe, 10, Ify Aleke, 51, and Susanna Ogba, 54, while one Okeh Nwankwo, 53, is currently hospitalized.

The police commissioner urged the people to remain calm and avoid undertaking reprisals as the command will ensure that peace is restored in the area. However, the state governor, David Umahi, during a visit to the area on Sunday criticized stakeholders in the area for allowing the killings to continue.

Umahi, who was represented by his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, said, “you should know the people causing trouble in your domains as the traditional rulers should be able to identify those fomenting trouble in the area.

We are tired of the sentiments coming from this council but seek action because some people wrote an undertaking to the state government, to ensure peace.”

Politics / I Am Politically Smarter Than Bukola Saraki- Oshiomole by emmalezy(m): 12:41pm On Jul 30, 2019

Adams Oshiomole, the APC National Chairman, says Bukola Saraki's loss in the last general election, has proven that he, Oshiomole, is politically smarter, than Saraki.

Oshiomhole said this while fielding questions from state house correspondents after a meeting with President Buhari yesterday July 29th. The former Edo state governor said under his leadership as APC chairman, he successfully uprooted the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his cronies, politically, in Kwara.

Noting that Saraki is equally a smart political player, Oshiomole said

”Remember I was saying that Saraki must be removed, people would say how would I do it? I said okay if he resists removal then we would uproot. We went to Kwara, we did OTOGE(Enough is Enough), we uprooted Saraki. You know who Saraki is? If you are talking of the smartest political player, seasoned smart guy, he is. But for every smartness he has, I have a superior smartness. At the end of the day who won?
“As a senate president, we uprooted him as senator, we uprooted his nominee for governor and senators, we put our own. Today, he doesn’t have one senator in Kwara, he doesn’t have one House of Representatives in Kwara. Everything in Kwara is APC and you can’t commend me for that?
“If you don’t, then I will be like lizard, I will praise myself if you State House correspondents don’t praise me''.

Recall that Oshiomole vowed to ensure the removal of Saraki as Senate President after the controversial election that saw him emerge as the leader of the senate was conducted in June 2015. Saraki who was not the APC's favored candidate for the position of Senate President, later defected from the party to the PDP in August 2018.

Celebrities / It Was Hard For My Parents To Accept I’m A Lesbian – Dewy, Charly Boy’s Daughter by emmalezy(m): 11:17am On Jul 22, 2018

Nigerians were so shocked just in the previous week when Charly Boy’s daughter, Dewy Oputa, came out on social media to reveal to the world that she is a lesbian.

She made this known on Instagram by sharing photos and a video of herself and her girlfriend.

While speaking with Sunday Scoop, Dewy said she shared the post because she got tired of hiding and decided it was time to live in her truth.

She said,

“My mission for creating a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer platform is to provide a safe place for youths in the African community. I strive to create an accepting and welcoming community where everyone is free to express themselves and be loved for who they are. I want a place where individuals such as myself can create authentic friendships and thrive as the person they were born to be.”

Charly Boy’s Daughter, Dewy, however, admitted that it was not easy for her parents when she revealed her sexuality to them:

“I can’t pinpoint the exact age I found out about my sexuality, but I was much younger. When I came out to my parents, it took them a while to adjust but my happiness comes first. I don’t feel bad about the negative comments my sexuality post has generated. I knew Nigerians would always have negative things to say and I was mentally prepared for it. I’m not here to sway anybody’s point of view; I’m here to bring awareness,” she said.

On whether she nurses any fear about coming to Nigeria considering that there is an anti-gay law in place in the country, the stylist and property management practitioner said:

“To be honest, I do not have any fears. I think there are far more critical issues that are yet to be resolved. So, why should my sexual orientation affect the next man? Nigerians that have a problem with the LGBTQ community need to mind their business and focus on the critical life and death situation at hand. Love has never killed the next man.”

Meanwhile, Charly Boy has come out to support his daughter, Dewy Oputa, after she shared a cozy photo of herself and her lesbian partner on social media.

He told Sunday Scoop that he would always support his daughter irrespective of her choice of a sexual partner.

He said:

“She is my daughter, why won’t I support her even if she is whatever she is? My father supported me too. We can argue on moral grounds but we all have our rights to life. I fought for the gay community; so, if my daughter turns out to be this way, I should walk my talk.”

Admitting that he might not like her sexuality personally, he said there was nothing he could do about it since she is an adult.

The Area Father stated:

“I have daughters who are married and have children, but she is the only one who has decided to be different. As long as she finds happiness or moves on with her life, I don’t have any problem with it. My father wanted me to be a lawyer and I told him I didn’t want to be a lawyer; I did what made me happy.

“People can be talking based on moral grounds, but we are not in the position to judge. Nigeria is like this because of evil people and we should concentrate on those people; not my daughter’s sexuality.”

Similarly, Charly Boy rubbished the anti-gay law in Nigeria, which imposed a 14-year jail term on any individual found guilty.

“How many people have the law caught? Don’t we have a lot of homosexuals in the Senate or government? We know all these things. They should start with themselves. They shouldn’t be bothered about my child who is enjoying her life. I don’t have problems with anyone’s sexuality as long as they are good human beings. I am not in the same level with most Nigerians; so, my thinking is different,” he said.

His renewed vigor to fight for the rights of the LGBT is coming against the backdrop of his daughter, Dewy Oputa, who recently came out as a Lesbian and also showed off her lesbian partner.

In a post shared on his IG page this morning, CharlyBoy said he has in time past fought for Okada riders, Musicians and many others and that now is the time for him to fight for the LGBT community in Nigeria. Read what he wrote below

All that I have done for over 50yrs of my life is to root for the underdogs.
I turned my back on my goldplated pedigree and wondered into the unknown.

I discovered that victory is a million times sweeter as an underdog. Oh!!!!! Yes.

My life has been one Big fight, against bad habits, poverty, hopelessness and principalities.
But I never backed down.

I battled for the rights of the Okada’s to make a living.I battled for the rights, respect and the
big money for the Nigerian Musician, spent weeks in the police cell, as a pman president.
Today, thank God they have a better life. Now am the President of Frustrated Nigerians.
I am battling with my comrades to stop the senseless killings of Nigerians.
The oppression of Inocent Nigerians and the weaponisation of hunger.

Many battles too many to mention. I have been beaten black and blue by
the military, police, security agents, been teargassed, shot at, stoned and most time misunderstood even by the people I fight for.

No big deal because I never back down. Now I reactivate my fight in defence of the LGBT community.? You know something? Openness may not completely disarm prejudice
but is a good place to start. I am hoping that my support will be a show of strength to the Nigerian LGBT ?community. Because seriously speaking

To each his own.

Politics / ”buhari Was Trusted With So Much And Has Failed So Greatly” – Chude Jideonwo by emmalezy(m): 9:46am On Jun 28, 2018

Chude who campaigned for President Buhari in 2015, said this in a post he shared this evening while commending former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, for leading a solo march to the state house Abuja yesterday to protest the wanton killings in Plateau and other parts in the country. Chude wrote

”Just like Babangida, like Shagari, like Shonekan, history will cast aside a man like Buhari who was trusted with so much and failed so greatly. So disgracefully”.

My goodness. My goodness.
I just heard about this now, and I knew I had to break my silence and say something. This is too important.
All the things we ever heard, ever read about one person’s capacity to make a difference, about going on no matter what anybody says. About putting one’s life, one’s relationships, one’s reputation on the line for what one believes in. About caring only for doing what is right, not what is understood or popular. About courage. About character. About ferocious integrity. This woman has become a living, breathing totem for all of it. For everything.
Yes. Just like Babangida, like Shagari, like Shonekan, history will cast aside a man like Buhari who was trusted with so much and failed so greatly. So disgracefully.
But there is this one silver lining.
That I lived in a time like this, in the same country with a woman like this.
We don’t know how much we owe you, Obiageli Kathryn Ezekwesili.
But those who know, know that we do greatly.
LEGEND.
