try 5W-40, you may use with engine metal treatment like MSP, works as anti-knock and reduces friction up to 95% |

Car Talk / Re: Toyota Camry 2003 Fuel Consumption by femicousim: 11:36pm On Oct 12, 2015 |
it could be O² sensors, they're are major feedback component in running open/closed loop(whoever asked you to change catcon), could be your throttle body actuator is always @ WOT(wide open throttle), you might have a problem with the ECT sensor(engine coolant temperature), or maybe you even tampered with the thermostat, run the fan direct, for all you care it might even be the ECU (brain box) a lot of factors may be responsible for high fuel consumption, so run a diagnosis as previously advised |
Car Talk / Re: NEED HELP: Getting A Sweet Fuel Efficient Car. Any Suggestion On The Best? by femicousim: 10:00pm On Aug 25, 2015 |
SUZUKIs generally are very fuel efficient, i remember SUZUKI ALTO was being introduced to the market, Standard org of Nig (SON) tested it to verify its claim as very fuel efficient, and it did 5 litres to ibadan from lagos. 1 Like |

DECOtech: i am afraid i have to disagree with you sir, the EGR is also important in the smooth operation of an engine, 1st it's part of the vaacuum system and helps in fuel economy and emission. with the P0401, you have an exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient which may be caused by EGR valve or clogged EGR ports/passages. the effect of the EGR not opening or flow being restricted is that you have detonation(spark knock or ping ) during acceleration or during cruising.that's excessive combustion chamber pressure which causes severe spark knock, piston damage, or even a blown gasket 2ndly, it increases the NOx (excessive oxides of nitrogen) exhaust emission, causing burning eyes or watery eyes as for partially open or stuck open EGR valve, it makes the vehicle idle roughly or frequent stalling, sagging, stumbling or hesitating it also accounts for low power/poor performance, especially @ low engine speed 1 Like |
Car Talk / Re: Its A Murano A Good Choice Than Honda Element? by femicousim: 7:48pm On Aug 25, 2015 |
i believe you've gotten a lot of advice on why you should not attempt the murano EXCEPT you want to convert the gearbox, the RAV 4 tops it, BUT it depends on the model year because 05 downwards also have ECU problems always masquerading as gear issue.since you like box-like SUVs as i do, you may hazard the element, it has own "small" "small" issues, but which vehicle is free from blame? 1 Like |
Car Talk / Re: Epc On Dash Board by femicousim: 6:59pm On Aug 25, 2015 |
i am afraid the engine wire harness might not be the same, that is the 1.6L might be different to the 2.0,so perhaps some connections might be compromised, also the ECU may not be compatible.above all, have the car diagnosed and take it from there with the DTCs pulled out |
Car Talk / Re: Automatic Gearbox Problems by femicousim: 6:46pm On Aug 25, 2015 |
lele007: well, you might want to scan that vehicle, from your description of the symptoms it might well be an automatic transmission valve control assembly, so you might want to check which solenoid is acting up, so if you replace the fluid and it is still acting up please be sure to pay the vave body some attention |

Car Talk / Re: Engine Revving! by femicousim: 6:04pm On Aug 25, 2015 |
OShepherd: you have a spent engine from the details you have given, blue smoke is a fallout of engine oil escaping pass the piston rings into the combustion chamber, burning with air/fuel mixture. i rather you settle for a tokunbo engine because of inferior engine refurbishing parts, BUT if can get very good replacement parts then you can attempt ringing/sleeving that's an OBD 1, only very few technicians have OBD 1 connectors/adaptors. goodluck 1 Like |
Car Talk / Re: Engine Revving! by femicousim: 5:52pm On Aug 25, 2015 |
have the car scanned, you need to give more details about the car and also be explicit with symptoms, is the revving problem when the car is stationary or when in motion? it might be a clogged exhaust for all i care, a throttle body actuator, TP sensor, in some cases knock sensor or even EGR, even if they claim the engine lacks "pressure", be sure to do an engine compression test 1st. whatever is the business of the "Kickstarter" with engine not revving, anywhere please get it to a competent & honest automotive engineering technician, may call 08055518883 |

@OP, it seems you have done your homework, you have elucidiated the concerns with hybrid already.except you're buying a new car, although sometimes you might be lucky if it's a used vehicle. besides most american airlines do not accept to put hybrid batteries on board to Nigeria claiming contraband, only emirates accepted to ship and did ship. on the 700k bill, i think is over priced, trust me you can fix with less, say 200k, worse case scenario 300-400k |

raises itself would mean it has adaptive automatic dampers but if you meant revs by itself, then it might be your IACV -idle air control valve solenoid TBA - throttle body actuator (esp if it's stuck) TPPS - throttle pedal position sensor or sometimes EGR valve just scan the vehicle, also observe the data stream of the above components and other fuel and air induction components' sensors & actuators |

there a lot of things responsible for high fuel consumption, and it might be a mere coincidence that it was after an exhaust job, it's 99, so i'm hopeful it can be scanned with any 16-pin, i rather you scan first 2ndly, do you notice black smoke from exhaust? have you removed thermostat and running fan directly? what's the condition of air filter? have you done general tune up - serviced nozzles, change plugs etc? it might be a map sensor or even throttle body issue or an A/F sensor plus or minus catalyst 1 Like |

Car Talk / Re: Why Do Nigerians Dislike Nissan Cars? by femicousim: 12:21am On Oct 22, 2014 |
tpia5: I disagree with you and the OP has made a very valid observation of the big three(honda, nissan & toyota) of mass market cars in Nigeria, the nissan is less favoured, it has more complex electronics mimicking the germans, hence, the local repair technician avoid them, and discourage car owners as well, as for cost of maintenance, I believe it is just a case of demand & supply, i.e if there's a higher demand of toyota parts, more importers, more dealers, more competition, more taiwans. so the less common cars or brands usually have parts that are more expensive 2 Likes |
Car Talk / Re: My 1999 Camry Consumes Lots Of Fuel And Rpm Fluctuates by femicousim: 12:02am On Oct 22, 2014 |
the A/F sensor can also be responsible for the fuel guzzling, you will do well to pay attention to the sensor too. remember, the ECU needs its feedback to meter fuel, so you might be having rich mixture due to A/F sensor malfunction. |
Car Talk / Re: Car Diagnostic Results . . Please Help !!! by femicousim: 10:48pm On Mar 05, 2013 |
chinero121: Good day ,pls I scanned and got the following codes..p1135 A\F sensor..heater circuit.bank 1 sensor 1.... P1155 A F sensor heater circuit bank 2 sensor 1...toyota camry 04..Big dady @ chinero i guess you are referring to P0135 & P0155, it has to do with your A/F sensor(oxygen sensor),it is located on your exhaust manifold or silencer before the catalytic converter and it is responsible for sending input signals to the ECU(brain box) as regards quality of exhaust gas (oxygen really) which the ECU uses to determine air/fuel (A/F) mixture,do a data stream of the sensors and then check for continuity, also check your wire harness,if no resolution replace sensors.besides there are no such codes as P1135 & P1155 listed under toyota camry 04 manufacturer's trouble codes as they are not generic trouble codes. |
Car Talk / Re: Car Diagnostic Results . . Please Help !!! by femicousim: 4:06pm On Feb 26, 2013 |
data stream refers to the checking of values of components in the vehicle via a scan tool, this way you are able to establish whether a particular sensor/actuator is working well or not. on the thermostat function DTC it might be the engine coolant temp sensor or the thermostat valve itself is stuck open

Car Talk / Re: Car Diagnostic Results . . Please Help !!! by femicousim: 11:36pm On Feb 21, 2013 |
as for fuel level sensor,it might be an indication that your fuel pump module may be on its way out on oxygen sensors,I think you should check whether your catalytic converter is still present in the silencer port.then a data stream of the O2 sensors wouldn't be a bad idea a well perhaps the thermostat has been removed!do you have your fan running directly i.e fan start to work as soon as you turn the ignition-KOEO(key on,engine off)?or if its viscous fan have you welded the fan? you might need to revert to factory arrangement if you have altered the operation of the cooling system. |

really, there are lot places to run a diagnostic scan, BUT you need to run a scan where the diagnostic trouble codes can be deciphered and exegesis done and right repair advisory can be gotten. if you oblige the area in lagos where you live or work, I might be able to recommend someone close to your workplace or house |

Islam for Muslims / Re: A 3-year-old Nigerian Girl Memorizes The Quran by femicousim: 11:12am On Feb 14, 2013 |
it might well be. the parents of a person would be given crown of light on the day of resurrection as for the advantage,if we were to rely on printed texts alone we risk overt or covert editing.so its a tradition in islam to preserve the scriptures off by heart as well. any person that memorises the qur'an has a relative better retentive memory hence would rub off on such person in academic pursuit.bearing in mind that the brain itself is made of cells and just like muscle cells,it can be developed based on the task you subject it too. I learnt Shaykh Yusuf Qaradawee said he didn't know when he memorised the qur'an,he just realised he had memorised it,a lot of the notable scholars also memorised qur'an at tender ages. in the end there should be no "BEEF",nor reciprocating "BEEF" 1 Like |
