adeenzo: Abuja is better but if I were you, I'd send to Accra or Niamey VFS. You can easily make payments via Ecobank. You won't spend more than N20,000 to send it and it'll be worth the investment for your own mental health. If sending it outside the country is impossible, then settle for Abuja but if you don't want to blame your village people, avoid Lagos VFS . 3 Likes |

Chikaima18: VFS circus! Some are getting changes in their IRCC statuses but no update from VFS. Others are getting updates from VFS but no changes in their IRCC status. I really hope that VFS is not mixing things up. |

Lekiboboe: Something unusual happened with all the new counterfoil approvals. The VFS status didn't change to 'being processed'. I don't know why it is so but you shouldn't rely on that VFS status at this point. Do well to call them (call them with a Glo number to eradicate number not allocated message and then continue calling even if you get number busy). Normally, since you've gotten the LOI and counterfoil, your passport should be returned to VFS before the end of today or at most tomorrow. |

Dameelee: What they sent in the email doesn't tally with the tracking response. The email update was definitely sent in error. How VFS manages to send these wrong updates amazes me. 1 Like |

Lekiboboe: That's the LOI. . Congrats. The odds have favoured you. Start planning to confront VFS early. I know you're not in a hurry but it's always better to have your passport at hand. 2 Likes |

Banditry has become the order of the day in the North now. This may seem like a small issue to the government until these bandits begin to form strong networks among themselves. We could have a situation where the groups would be loosely structured and that won't bode well for the nation. I really hope it doesn't get to that point because if it does, Boko Haram would look like a child's play. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Mmesomamichael: Your own is still fresh na. Many of those who have gotten counterfoil submitted around this time last month. However, based on the recent timelines, you should expect your counterfoil between now and next week. If so, then you can get your passport back in the next two or three weeks. Just pray that they return it on time. Nothing is more frustrating than VFS holding your stamped passport till January (especially if you plan to be in Canada before then). |

Mmesomamichael: By the third week of this month, they may move all unfinished business to next year. It all depends but just don't have any unfinished business with them by then except you can't help it. |

kristalfoods: You can arrive Canada 3-4 weeks before the start of program. If you arrive earlier, you may be turned back and that is a problematic thing as TRV may be revoked if care is not taken. If you're lucky (as many have been in the past), you can be allowed in but it's a risk. |

MissMC: Basically, you got your passport back from VFS two weeks after you got the counterfoil. The inefficiency of VFS here is just too annoying. These things shouldn't take that long. |

Eilenora: The Abuja offices of VFS and IRCC seem to be saner. We can't say the same of the Lagos office. This was why I advised people to use the Abuja office. My advice still stands for anyone who gets their PPR. An extra amount for package transmission shouldn't be an issue if you want quick results. For those still waiting on the Lagos IRCC office to stamp their passports, my advice is that you should mail the High Commissioner directly or raise a webform to their central office (at Ottawa). To answer your question, Eilenora, I don't think you'll pay again for return courier but kindly confirm from them. Their rules seem to be changing every minute these days. |

DL: This thread is for student visa/study permits. Maybe you should ask your question on the Express Entry thread or Living in Canada thread for you to get well-informed answers. Most of us here are more familiar with the TRV process than the PR process. 1 Like |

DL: That's rather weird. Most people get their PPRs on their MyCIC account. At any rate, since you now have it, you should send your passport and accompanying docs to any VFS of your choice. |

Haba. It's time for us to say no to corporal punishment in our schools. It's outdated, barbaric, and amounts to child abuse. How can secondary school teachers be flogging little children? A learning environment should be filled with love, warmth and patience. You can't turn a school into a torture zone and expect students to be at their best. The fear of punishment is not a good way to attain excellence. 5 Likes |

So sad. He is one of Nigeria's most cited scholars. His essay, "Colonialism and the Two Publics" has over 1,600 verified citations from across the world. He laboured for the Urhobo cause and was instrumental to putting Urhobo on the global stage with his waado.org website. Peter Ekeh! Akpokedefa o 2 Likes |
