IMO, Chinwoke Mbadinuju should lead the pack. During his tenure as the governor of Anambra; the state regressed in all indices of development.

1. Primary and secondary schools were closed down for a year

2. Workers salary were not paid for more than 2yrs.

3. Pensioners were not spared of the lousy man's fury

4. He invited his private security outfit called 'Bakassi Boys'. Those touts were implicated in numerous atrocities in Anambra. They chopped off people's limbs and neck in their murderous frenzy in broad daylight at the market squares.

Dis Guy:

Set up a lesson or exam crash courses for less confident students, like 1 on 1 or 1: 4 voila!!

Thanks for your nice suggestion. wink I must tell that most of the Nigerian students don't want to learn. It's an attitudinal problem. Though not unexpected in a country where mediocrity is celebrated. I set up a lesson centre 12yrs ago with the aim of brushing up students in sciences and to make money to support myself. Alas! the centre closed down within months. Part of my failure is due to my refusal to incorporate exam mercenary as part of my activities. That's the first time I realized that most of the students are not ready to learn. All they want the shortcut to pass exams. sad

One was born into average family but attained greatness, one was born by a wealthy family (using his village standard) but bought his way;
One could be General or field Marshal but remained a Colonel, one wanted to bully his way but could only be a Colonel;
One became King of kings of Africa, the other was made an Owelle in one corner of African jungle;
One made life easy for his people, one made life a living hell for his own;
One could speak Arabic, English, Italian among many languages while the other barely speak passable English and ramble in another one;
One instill fear in enemies, the other piss in his pants when enemies surface;
One has IQ of 136, the other has IQ of 72

Your ignorance is so glaring that I don't know where to start. Bash Igbos, insult Igbos smiley I blame Lord Lugard for forcing us into this mess.
I will only respond to the bolded. What's the exchange rate of N/$ in the 60s. undecided Having taken the exchange rate of N to $ into consideration; can you now say that Ojukwu's father is wealthy "using his village standard"
You will find the wikipedia article below to be of some help to you in fighting your stupendous ignorance of Ojukwu's wealthy father.

Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, KBE, (1909-1966) was an extremely successful Nigerian businessman from Nnewi. Ojukwu was the first and founding President of The Nigerian Stock Exchange as well as President of The African Continental Bank. He was also on the board of directors of some of Nigeria's most powerful and most prestigious companies such as Shell Oil Nigeria Limited. He won a parliamentary seat during the nation's first republic. He attended a primary school in Asaba and the Hope Waddell Institute.
Life and career

Ojukwu started his professional career at the Agricultural department before leaving to join John Holt as a tyre sales clerk. He also incorporated a textile company in Onitsha to supplement his income during this period, already exhibiting a little bit of his entrepreneurial spirit. While at John Holt, he noticed the severe strain a lack of adequate transportation had on Eastern textile traders. He later left John Holt to create a transport company to improve the trading environment for Nigerian traders. As a transporter, he was a tireless worker and meticulous to detail; he was usually the first to inspect his transport vehicles for oil and leakages. Apart from his work ethic, his success was also oiled by the economic boom after World War II, working with the West African Railway Company and the newly inaugurated produce boards, he provided his fleet for commodity transportation and for other traders use. During the 1950s, he diversified his interest, bought some industries, invested heavily in the real estate sector and became a director in numerous major corporations including the state-owned Nigerian National Shipping Line. He was a member of the board of Nigerian Coal Corporation, Shell Oil, D'Archy, and African Continental Bank.
Ojukwu died in 1966, just a year before the Nigerian civil war. His son Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was the leader of the secessionist state of Biafra.

I don't blame the faceless you for spewing so much hatred against the Igbo tribe. Ojukwu is revered amongst the Igbos. By insulting him, you are insulting the sensibility of the Igbos. I blame the ethnic bias of the NL moderators. I saw similar topic comparing Diya and Gadhaffi. If this silly thread could make it to the front page, why wont it's look-alike?

maasoap:

Is it justifiable for brilliant students to go into examination malpractices popularly known as "exam machinery"

It's justifiable. Are you okay with that?

maasoap:

just because of lack of financial support from the family members?

That makes it more justified. In don't know how I would have survived from 1999 to 2007, if not for exam runs. Nigeria is a failed state with failed educational system. Don't point your accusing finger @ me because 4 of them are pointing back at you. There is nothing else that I can do back then to support myself, so I used what I have to get what I want. The blame should be on government. The education sector should be reformed and well-funded inorder to improve the quality of teachers. The effect of the above will trickle down to the students.

maasoap:

This is because the rate at which brilliant  embarassed students are being involved in exam malpractices in Nigeria is very alarming.

I can't describe myself with that word. I leave that to my clients

maasoap:

excuse that there is no other ways or means to make money being a student in Nigeria.

OP can you suggest other means to make money in Nigeria as a student? Your opinion will be valued. Thank you wink

Augusto Pinochet
Political Leader / President of Chile

Born: 25 November 1915
Died: 10 December 2006 (heart attack)
Birthplace: Valparaiso, Chile
Best known as: Dictator, then president of Chile, 1973-1990
Name at birth: Augusto Pinochet Ugarte

Augusto Pinochet is alleged to have caused the kidnapping, death or "disappearance" of more than 3,000 political opponents after he rose to power in Chile in a 1973 coup. A career military man, he overthrew a democratically elected socialist president, Salvador Allende, only months after Allende had named him commander-in-chief. Pinochet is then said to have ruthlessly eliminated Allende's remaining supporters, in some cases by giving orders to a squad of assassins known as the "Caravan of Death." Pinochet appointed himself President in 1974, and with the approval of a new constitution (a 1980 plebiscite) he secured an 8-year elected term. Voters called for an election in 1988 to choose a new president. Patricio Aylwin took office in 1990, but Pinochet continued as army commander until 1998. While recovering from back surgery in London that year, he was arrested on an international warrant calling for extradition to face charges for the deaths of Spanish nationals under his regime. Through a combination of diplomatic maneuvering and ill health, Pinochet was never tried for those or other charges brought against him. He suffered a heart attack on 3 December 2006 and died a week later. Though thought to be one of the more infamous of modern dictators, he still has his supporters.

Julius Caesar - Idus Martes, 710 AUC
Gaius Julius Caesar died on the Ides of March. Despite the overwhelming public favor of our great leader, he was assassinated by men who were thought to be his allies. It is estimated that the conspirators numbered around 60, but only 16 were known.

Caesar's Life

Caesar was born on the 13th day of Quintilis, 654 AUC to Julius Caesar Sr. and his wife Aurelia. His family claimed descent from Julus (or Ascanius), the son of Aeneas who founded the great city of Rome. In the year 669 AUC, Julius Caesar Sr. died suddenly due to a heart atack. One year later Gaius was nominated Priest of Jupiter and he married Cornelia. The very next year she bore him a daughter named Julia. Sulla became master of Rome on the 1st of Novembres, 672 AUC and attempted to punish Caesar for being his political enemy. A year later, however, Sulla pardoned Julius. Caesar then left as aide-de-camp to Marcus Minucius Thermus. In 676 AUC he transferred to the staff of Isauricus and returned to Rome after the death of Sulla. He decided to leave Rome again, however, in 679 AUC, to study rhetoric in Rhodes. A year later he raised troops to the Province of Asia for the renewal of the war between Rome and King Mithridates VI of Pontus. In 681 AUC he returned to Rome to find himself elected to the College of Pontiffs. The next year he was elected military tribune. His wife died in 685 AUC. He was elected High Priest in the year 691 AUC. Two years later he left Rome to be Propraetor in western Spain. That year he captured Brigantium and conquered Lusitania. He then returned to Rome and gave up a triumph to be a candidate for the consulship, forming an alliance with Pompey and Crassus. In 695 AUC he was given proconsulship and married Calpurnia. Caesar fought in many battles and won many wars, such as the Gallic war. He fought against Pompey and Ptolemy XIII. He published Commentaries on the Gallic War in Ianuarias, 703 AUC. After the defeat of Curio in Africa, Caesar was appointed Dictator in 705 AUC. In the year 708 AUC he was appointed dictator for ten years and inaugurated various reforms, including the calandar. On the 1st of October, 707 AUC he was proclaimed dictator for life.

Untimely Death
Julius Caesar had many men conspiring against him, among these 60 men were 16 senators, including Cassius, Casca, Cimber and Brutus. Thei'r motives were obvious -- personal gain; they masked it as a nobly patriotic cause. On the 15th of Martiae, 710 AUC, the Senate held a meeting in the hall adjoining the theater Pompey had built 11 years previously. A man named Cimber knelt at Caesar's feet to plead for his brother's recall from banishment. When Caesar irritably refused him, Cimber yanked Julius' toga down from his neck and the other conspirators began to stab Caesar. When they were finished, Caesar lay dead with 23 wounds.
