Politics / Open Letter To Adebayo Adelabu, Defeated Oyo State APC Gubernatorial candidate by gbolah1(m): 12:32am On Mar 14, 2019
Dear Mr Adebayo Adelabu,
Firstly let me console you for the loss of the gubernatorial election to your closest rival eng oluseyi makinde, may almighty Alhah give you the ability to bear the loss.
Secondly I will like to Congratulate you for a robust and a good campaign strategies that was roll out in oyo state during the election period.
You fought a good fight, you lost the battle not because you are a bad candidate but for two reason.
Firstly your political leader which is the outgoing governor, Base on his approach and several unguarded statement which turn so many people against him.
Secondly and the main reason why you lost is because of the humanitarian activities your opponent has been doing since he came back to nigeria.
Eng Seyi makinde had impacted directly or indirectly in people life, that's his what build a lot of confident and love people have for him, I believe you will agree with me that it's not the PDP that defeat you, it's the integrity of that man called seyi makinde.
I remember in 2000, when eng seyi makinde just came to the country newly, he build computer classroom for bishop Phillip acedemy as an old study of that school, the classroom was commission by late Lam Adesina then, by that time, I don't think he had started inspire to become the governor of the state.
Now election as come and gone, I see you as a young vibrant man that oyo state will need in future. I can see you holding a big position very soon in oyo state, to achieve this, don't act lick seasonal politician that always comes out few month to the election.
Start impacting in people life from now onward, 2023 isn't far, I hope to see you in high position serving our dear country.
Start building your political structure with LOVE and humanitarian, impact in people life.
Make your self accessible to people if you want to be a force to reckon with in oyo state politics in future.
The only way to achieved your ambition his your ability to build closeness to the grassroot from now.
In case you were been given appointment in abuja, please dnt become abuja Base politician, connect with your people at grassroot.
I wish you best of luck for your future ambition.

Personally I like makinde, his a nice man but I doubt is ability to manage oyo state better than Adelabu.
Adelabu will do better in term of infrastructure development and revenue generation but there will be less money sharing in his government while makinde will be a big donor to many people that will be need of cash in his government but infrastructure will be less.
This are the main different between APC and PDP government. We should choose what we want among the two.

I guess Atiku and PDP are just trying to buy time, they willnt go to court,
If they announce accepting defeat now, it will affect the gubernatorial election that will be coming up in different state by nextweek.
After the election, Atiku and PDP will find one grammar to explain there reason of not continue with there court plan, just like what happen when fayose defeat fayemi in ekiti 2014.
Watch out for the excuse they will give for not continue with there threat again after gubernatorial election next week

Politics / Re: Who Is Next Senate President As Battle Of Wits Begins? by gbolah1(m): 6:25pm On Feb 28, 2019
From the look of things, Hamed lawan is the anointed next senate precedent while femi gbajabiamila is the next speaker.
I doubt if they will want to use omoagege as deputy senate president because of his character but nothing his impossible.
Okorocha n oji uzo kalu can not be senate president because they are first timer, n it's in the senate rule to choose leaders from the person that has experience from the house ruling.

So, why is ur brother bittered that the microfinance banks are doing their job to recover their money? If the economy was good, his brothers could have been able to pay off but due to the inflation and fall of purchasing power which are all as a result of the bad economy brought upon us by this corruption fighting government who could not pave way for economic growth, they were not able to meet up. Why call on CBN and FG? If they were not sure of paying off, why go for a loan the first place?

This is absolutely not the topic hear, moreso I have earlier said and admit that there are some policy of PMB that cause the current economic woe, but this is not enough to throw them away, if you give me a better option, I will surely consider it but not Atiku

It's obvious that your blood is hurt, you are ready for confrontation but I believe am above that, am appealing to my people, my region, we know what is best for us, amnt saying Buhari administration is the best for this country.
To my own understanding and believed, if southwest are to choose in-between the current leading candidate for the progress of the region, Buhari is better option for us and that's why am appealing to my people.
You can as well canvass for your other candidate if you believe in him.
Yoruba dnt think of present situation alone, we are use to compare the past/present/future before we make decision, that's why we are progressing.

valenu:

What has southwest gained so far since the inception of Buhari's government? Has it stopped the microfinance banks from harassing and embarrassing your friends and brothers? I pray for a drop in the number of the unenlightened and tribalistic Yorubas. I'm glad not all the yorubas are like u.

Economic Wise APC get it wrong at the initial but they r caching up now, changing the government is not the solution.
Moreso the major problem of this government is that the free money people are use to, are no more flowing like before, the corruption still exist and you cannt remove it completely.
Given Buhari administration another chance will be a better option than changing the government

Omololu001:
as for me, GEJ administration is not better than PMB administration.
APC has perform better than the PDP in the south west. So they will have majority of the vote.
Forget all this you're typing.

Do you really think deep before you decide on the whom you are voting for, dnt think of the present, think of the future of this country.
Many people believed that am a paid agent of a political perty that's why am advocating for this, but the fact remain, money isn't every thing n we should learn how to put the interest of our nation n region in mind.

I believe the current government as learn is lesson from some costly mistake they made,
PYO his heading the economic team now n there is a brighter rewarding future. Changing them to the old people maynt be the best option, let think deep

SarkinYarki:
Dear Nairalanders there have been various arguments on who was really responsible for the Economic slump witnessed under the Buhari govt with some people saying the slump was as a result of 16 years of bad leadership by the PDP which just happen to tank during Buhari administration and others saying the buck lies squarely with Buhari .. I am of the latter opinion that Buhari indeed is 100 percent responsible for the recession and I have carefully outlined all the poor policies by Buhari that led to the slump please enjoy .

1 : Delay in communicating a policy direction on time:

Ladies and gentlemen this was the first mistake by Buhari as he failed to communicate any economic policy direction immediately he was announced winner leaving all economic stakeholders in the dark , for months no stakeholder knew is the the new govt was going to be favourable to the private sector and at what level and instead of Buhari communicating this he instead went to work straight stoking the embers of tribalism and division with his 97% to 5% gaffe which immediately cast a veil of economic and security uncertainty on the polity and economy .

The outcome
: Investors immediately put a pause on any further investment till the air could be clearer at least on what economic direction the president was towing.

2 : Delay in choosing Ministers

The 2nd mistake Buhari will make was his deliberate delay in choosing Ministers for almost a year meaning he spent his first fiscal year without any form of FEC meeting where new govt tactical and strategic policies
are brain stormed and matched against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) , this delay was like virtually pausing the life support of a patient in Coma while you searched for a medical expert !!

The Outcome: This needless delay would end up putting the Nigerian economy under stress as for months unending every other micro policy from state govts to local govt to private sector where all put on hold as stakeholder waited for ministerial direction as a plimsol to guide their own decision so it was not uncommon for many of us to walk into our clients organization and be told we had to halt projects tool the ministers where inaugurated.

3: Immediate Infighting within the Presidents party :

Buhari has always been known to be a very cunning and divisive man who is very fond of speaking from both side of his mouth all just to protect his secret interest and he will immediately use this character to bring division into his ruling party where once again his inability to firmly set a direction would open the doors for chaos and spoils grabbing as no one knew how Buhari wanted the structure of party leadership to be , this lapse immediately brought about many camps within the party all infighting for the spoils of their latest conquest while the economy was left unattended.

The Outcome
No unity between the party leadership, the executive and legislative right from the onset a problem that will further sacrifice the health of our already struggling economy further.

4: Poor implementation of TSA

It had never been a secret that Nigerian Govt funds housed in many Nigerian banks provided a lot of stability for the financial sector even though it left some loophole for possible corruption but the benefits far outweighed the risks , it was in this light the previous govt agrees that the implementation of the TSA must be staggered in phases so as not to cause financial shock to Nigeria managing Banking industry but Buhari will disregard the advice of expert and go for total implementation over night a costly bad decision that threw the financial sector into sudden confusion as predicted by experts, meaning over night our banks suddenly had less deposits to use to manage the delicate balancing of funds between depositors and lending , ofcourse at such times it's the lending aspect that will suffer as depositors must always have access to their funds as at when they want it because they are in Fact the soul of the banking business . We should note this action was clearly an indirect sabotage to the financial economy similar to a previous Buhari error in the 80s where he changed the Nigerian currency over night in a bid to catch looters cheesy

The outcome : the private sector suddenly had less access to loans and as result many economy growing projects where put on hold at great cost to the the Economic kinetics and potential of the Nigerian economy.

5: Going after Tompolo at a time of low oil Prices

At a time of low oil Prices most good leaders immediately try to drastically increase output and production in other to cover for projected short fall in revenues but shockingly it is at this time that President Buhari will choose to shake the fragile peace in the Niger Delta in a poorly thought out decision to send the military into the oil rich Niger Delta to hunt for oil warlord General Tompolo over a 13 billion Naira (35 million dollars ) payment made to Tompolo by the previous govt for the purchase of some land for some university , it ended up being a total economic disaster which only ended up worsening the Economic outlook of the country.

The Outcome : In attempt to go after 35 million dollars the Nigerian economy ended up losing a projection of about 100 billion dollars and countless lives and the painful part is that Tompolo was never caught neither was the 35 million dollars ever recovered ..Infact it's said the military operation itself cost the govt over 60 million dollars . Talk of a very bad decision .

6: 5 Billion Dollar MTN fine

Early in Buhari govt without even a policy direction in place and heavy economic uncertainty the Buhari govt in its bid to raise cheap funds will make a very bad mistake by fining telecoms success story MTN a mind boggling whooping 5 billion dollars for failing to properly register less than 1% of its subscribers a practice common with all 4 mobile Telcos in the country but surprisingly only MTN was singled out for this quite suspect fine which may industry observers have said is nothing short of a grandiose approach to executive extortion but that's as story for another day , the bottom line is that this poorly thought out fine triggered a megathrust of capital flight out of the country by many private sector players including the same same MTN who feared that same fate could befall them under the knee jerk Buhari govt and in less than 4 weeks over 80 billion dollars was spirited out of the Nigerian Govt under the nose of Buhari in one of the greatest mass capital flight ever recorded in a developing economy.

The Outcome
: The capital flight triggered by the fine would put further strain on the economy once more and slow down any further new investments by such players , MTN will go further and cut it's support for thousands of small Nigerian Businesses and ideas citing lack of funds ( yours faithfully lost a lucrative advertising business my company ran regularly with MTN) MTN will drop many youth ambassadors it sponsored , drop Who wants to be a millionaire and project fame citing lack of funds , the total loss to small businesses that depended on MTN for patronage will run into billions of Naira in reality and tens of billions in projections. It was another economic misfire by the Buhari govt .
The Outcome here was hyper capital flight and many calculated exits by investors from the Nigerian economy e g ETISALAT and heavy loss to Nigerian SMEs that got patronage of such players, this will translate into massive job losses and prospect deeper that can even be measured and the very very painful part is that after all the damage the Buhari govt failed to collect the 5 billion fine but instead reduced it to 650 million dollars to be paid over a long time by the Nigerian subscribers.

7 : Increasing Petrol Price and Electricity Tarriff at the same time:

It's no secret that Nigerian micro business economy is driven by a finicky balance betwen the petrol engine and unstable electricity as the petrol engine is used to produce back up electricity used to power small businesses from fabricators to small offices to small online businesses to cooling to room to salon at times when NEPA electricity has failed and believe me in Nigeria it's almost all the time .. The Buhari govt will again show it's short sightedness in this area and deliver a devastating blow to micro business owners who are the foundation of 80 percent struggling Nigeria family units by increasing petrol price and Electricity Tarriff by a whopping 50 percent and at the same time which immediately increased the operational running cost of micro businesses about 100% , my brothers and sisters this was the death knell to the economy as it triggered wave of unplanned inflation overnight and reduced demand instead of the other way round where increased demand will trigger inflation, once again the Buhari govt had turned economic theories on its head and thrown the economy in to further doldrum. Many micro business who couldn't cope with this loss of demand as result forced inflation had to die throwing millions more into uncertainty and abject poverty.

8: Poor handling of Herdsmen Farmers Clash

When farms and cattles meet there is always bound to be problem and in Nigeria this is no different but under Buhari this took a worse turn as instead of quickly using fairness and equity to resolve such tensions the Buhari govt immediately took sides with herdsmen for reasons best known to it and this immediately emboldened the herdsmen to escalate their attack as the realised there was no repercussion in sight as long as the Buhari govt continued to be one sided , this lack of will by the Buhari govt will end putting devastating blow on the foundational pillar of the Nigeria economy which is actually subsistent farming .

The Outcome : The Outcome here was hunger hunger and more hunger as many subsistent farmers fled their traditional farmlands leaving in its wake reduced agro production and inflation as agro supplies dwindled , it also led to an increase in crimes as both herders and farmers took to kidnappings and robberies in other to survive .

9 Poorly thought out Import Tarriff increases

The Buhari govt made two tax policies that I think were a really bad mistake and they are

A : Increasing tariffs on anti malarial

B: Increasing tariffs on Vehicles .

Usually govt increased import Tarriff for two reasons either to protect it's own local industries or trying to discourage the use of such . The Buhari govt will shock all by increasing the Tarriff of antimalarials citing reasons that it wanted to encourage their production at home forgetting that Nigeria was a malaria endemic zone with little or no real infrastructure to support production especially under Buhari who had recently demobilized the lending sector with his poor implementation of TSA and increase cost of all production in Nigeria, this policy was another ok advised one as I would have expected the govt to first make the economy conducive to attract investment in those sectors before thinking of increasing Tarriff.

The Outcome
: The policy only succeeded in increasing the cost of healthcare and cost of vehicle in Nigeria which means a reduction in saving and disposable income for the average family unit , we didn't see the indigenous car plants or anti Malarial factories get built in Fact the policy was so bad that the Customs boss had to recently beg the Buhari govt to reduce it as it's is only encouraging smuggling and infiltration of substandard products .

I hope with these 9 points we can all agree that Buhari was 100 percent behind the slump contrary to arguments the slump was caused by other govts and Buhari only inherited it . I am in no way trying to absolve past govts of poor leadership but only trying to show the role Buhari played in expediting the slump.

Many thanks for the read and please feel free to share whether you support or not .

Dear fellow omoluabi, I will appeal to everyone to think deep before we allow the current economic meltdown and campaign of hatred forget the benefit and the future of our region.
I will agree with all the aggrieved citizen that the current economy in our nation is not the best, but changing government is absolutely not the better option.
I believe buhari as learn is lesson from the first administration while we hope for better rewarding future in the incoming administration.
Southwest is better equip and position in term of development under buhari/osinbajo administration.
If we allow the selfish interest of some people do the wrong thing come nextweek Saturday by voting out the current administration, we will all regret the action.
Amnt a member of any political party but am talking as an individual that want his nation and region to develop.
The Nigeria economy have been drive by the corruption since and changing stile will surely affect many citizen.
Example of it is the below story I will like to post for better explaination.

1. A young man works for one of the state ministries. His salary is 120K. He makes 15,000 everyday on this desk (N75k a week) engaging in corrupt practices. As a result, he spends the daily cash as he cares. Living large and far above his legitimate income.

2. He visits the local joint every evening and buys drinks for friends, and area boys. They hail him. He is married, but has two girlfriends. His "income" is enough to take care of them. The Asun seller at his favorite joint is happy, the joint owner is happy.

3. Everyone was benefiting from his "income". Friends, family, area boys, joint owner, Asun seller, girlfriends, wife and his church. Life was good.

4. Then suddenly the ministry implemented the Treasury Single Account (TSA) at the beginning of PMB administration. His extra "income" disappeared and he had to adjust to the reality of event and live within his real income. That wasn't easy.

5. Initially he reduced his daily visit to the joint to 3 days a week and stopped buying drinks for everyone. He reduced he plates of Asun. The Asun seller started to find it hard to sell a full goat each day and resorted to buy half.

6. The young man's girlfriends started to feel the heat too. No more iPhone 10. The joint owner noticed a drop in sales. The young man finally stopped visiting the joint after a month. The area boys started feeling his absence. The effect cascaded down.

7. The young man started spending more time at home with his wife and kids. The family had to readjust to the reality of the new normal. His hair stylist noticed the young man suddenly stopped tipping. He will even wait for his N200 change after haircut.

8. Things are different. Times are hard, they all cry. The young man is blaming Buhari, his wife is blaming Buhari, the area boys are blaming Buhari, the girlfriends are saying Buhari must go, the joint owner is saying Buhari killed the "economy"

9. The Asun seller is cursing Buhari, the hair stylist is insisting Buhari is too old to rule. This is the story of our nation where corruption fuels the "economy". Those who are not engaging in it are benefiting from it.

10. This tread is not about Buhari's achievement or failure, but rather about the "multiplier" effect of corruption and how we have built a system largely driven by corruption. It's about policy implication (good or bad). It's about the choices we have made.

Finally, the young man had to withdraw his kids from what he called expensive primary school his kids attend. He added:"what are they teaching them there sef " Obasanjo didn't go to a private school. I just laughed

My Take:
Most of the so called rich men and women in Nigeria before now were feeding fat on the populace, imaging a level 15 officer in a state ministry sponsoring two of his/her children's education in Europe but when TSA came to effect, free money dried up but Buhari was blamed for the inability to fund children in Europe! Awon ole jati -jati, ofan a je l'oju onile.

You need to understand my point, Buhari government is not the best for this country but it's far better than Atiku and PDP.
Presently we are inbetween APC and PDP to form the next government, are you saying we should choose the one that has a record of impunity and embezzlement?
The truth of the matter is Buhari was seek for almost 2years in his administration and he was not fully incharge, it's now that God has bring him back to life which all his opponent wasn't expected.
One of the costly mistake he made was not putting his own men in the elms of affairs of national assembly from day one.
All this are something that can be corrected. The most dangerous thing someone can do for him or herself is constant change of officers managing the affairs of your company.
To some extend APC show some level of understanding to the running of the government of building infrastructure that will make the country grate than government of sharing money that was suppose to build infrastructure.

If we pay 220 and fix the inefficiency, Nigerians won't even feel it. Because health, educatioyn and other areas will receive better attention.

AS a patriotic Nigerian, you should look at the figures of today and tell what tomorrow will look like.

I'm sure if Nigeria was your personal business, and you get these negative figures for 4 years, you would have fired your manager.

Firing manager might have been an option that's if you realised the manager didn't do anything to sustain the business or correct the mistake,
Go and check many successful company in the word, they don't throw away there manager at will, especially if there is room for improvement, if not your new manager may start at fresh and may not get it right as expected.
I know what am talking about and I can sighted some company that as made similar mistake of changing manager and they regreting there action till today.
My point is if there are credible alternative, way may have considered changing the government but the people that are standing as messiah are the one that put us in the mess.
Let us think deep as a citizen and give this government another term.

Politics / Re: Senator Dino Melaye Speaks From His Hideout. Nigerians React (Video, Photos) by gbolah1(m): 9:53pm On Jan 01, 2019
It's obvious that Dino is inside his abuja residence has alleged by the police, that's why he choose a corner within his house premises that he used for recording the video he posted. Unlike flamboyant Dino we all know.
So that he willnt be notice or heard by the police surround his house for possible arrest.
This are the kind of people Atiku are associating with and he want reasonable Nigeria to vote for him.
Because of lack of preparations by the opposition, Buhari will be reelect unopposed come February 2019.

APC was borrowing and giving Nigerians deadline when they will stop importing fuel. Only for us to find out at the end of the tenure that a dime was not spent on the refineries, neither did they attract any investor to take over the repairs. So where did all the money go? Why did they lie about the refineries like they did about subsidy? You will keep exposing APC for their lies. So if they knew PDP failed, why then did they keep giving Nigerians false hope about ending importation and working refineries?

Isn't it evident that the APC enjoys the subsidy more than they want to end fuel importation?

APC rely on dangote refinery. Once dangote refinery start working, issue of subsidy will disappear.
If they remove it now, common man will feel the consequence. That's why you can see that first time in history of Nigeria in recent time, there is no fuel scarcity in December 2018.
For me I will rather give APC another chance to rule Nigeria, truly they made some costly mistake in which they also admit and they are working to adjust there mistake.
what we citizen are use to before is: covering up of government mistake.
I will personally appeal to independent voters like me to let us think deep before we rush in changing the current government.
Am personally affected businesswise during this regime, but that doesn't make me think negatively about my country.
A patriotic Nigerian must think of the prospect of the country in future not about the sweatness that man nt stand the test of time.

Do you think president and his vice willnt have one or two appointment they must have been plan ahead?
For the president to have gone there the next day show utmost respect for the family of the man.
There are protocol in president movement.
Don't forget that some road must be close for his free movement if his to visit a particular place, this are fact, it also happen in US n other develop country. President dnt just move without proper coordination moreso it's a Muslim burial that must take place within 24hrs.
